Simply the best…

Having used DXO PureRAW since version one, through the current (and best) version six, my view is it is the best RAW pre-processor, bringing out the very best in the basic image, so it can be worked on to process a pleasing, noise-free and sharp final image.
I use Lightroom Classic as my DAM and have tried Topaz; but in my view PureRAW is rather better than either at reducing noise and correcting lens issues.

Simply the best noise removal and…

Simply the best noise removal and optical correction software there is. I don't give a 5 star because it works very slow and the cooperation with CaptureOne could be more seamingless.

I am walking away from DXO and NIK as…

LET ME PUT THIS AT THE TOP - NIK 7 AND 8 WERE ON MY MACHINE. I HAD PAID SEPARATELY FOR BOTH VERSIONS - ONE WAS AN UPGRADE AND THE OTHER WAS A FULL VERSION PRICE. I BOUGHT A NEW MACHINE AND THEY DID NOT WORK. I TRIED MANAGING MY LICENSES THROUGH THE WEBSITE AND GOT THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES. I TOOK SCREENSHOTS AND SENT THEM TO DXO. THEY WERE KIND AND UNDERSTANDING, BUT THEY COULD NOT HELP. THEY SENT IT TO ANOTHER SUPPORT TECH. THIS PERSON WAS REALLY RUDE, DISMISSIVE AND UNSUPPORTIVE. THEY DID NOT READ THE ORIGINAL TICKET AND WERE CONDESCENDING. THAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS REVIEW.

I am walking away from DXO and NIK as of today - after many, many years. I bought and paid for NIK from the original company. I paid every time they had a new version and I paid for multiple machines. Google eventually bought it and actually made it free for a while. Eventually, DXO bought it and began to charge. I dutifully paid, then I'd upgrade for one cycle, then I'd pay again. This went on for years - again, with me paying for at least two licenses at a time to use on 4 machines total.

The last few times I migrated machines, it would lock me out and I'd have to do a lengthy back and forth with their support people to free up activations. No easy way I ever found to do that. Well, it happened again today. I wrote to them, wasting time out of my life to do it, and got back a few polite, perfunctory replies. Eventually, someone sent me on to a person  who could allegedly help. What I got back from this person was a disgustingly facile response. They had not read the thread. They ignored my history of purchases, and they could not help me with even one activation. 

I was amazed at how rude and arrogant they were for a support person, so I wrote back with a partial list of my serial numbers back 7 or 8 years, then told them I was never going to use them again, which I intend to do. It's not worth it. First off, it's just not worth it for a cost/value benefit. Second, it's not worth the time, to be abused by some dweeb who did not even read my initial support ticket. I rarely get so pissed off, but I'm very brand loyal and this was a real slap in the face. 

I don't even use plugins often. I'll either poke around for something new or just use Photoshop, which I have used for over 30 years now. To hell with DXO.

We’re sorry to read this and understand your frustration, especially after so many years with Nik Collection.

Some older versions were purchased from companies other than DxO, and this can sometimes create legacy activation issues that we may not be able to resolve fully. Google did not continue developing Nik Collection, made it free for a time, and then sold it. When DxO acquired it, our goal was to bring this iconic suite back to life. For the past 8 years, we have continued to modernize it, add new features, and restore compatibility with recent operating systems and third-party software.

Since Nik Collection 7, users can also manage their activations themselves directly from their customer account or from within the software, making this process much easier for recent versions.

We have asked Trustpilot for permission to identify your case so we can review what happened with our support team and confirm which version of Nik Collection is concerned. If you receive this request, we would greatly appreciate your favorable reply.

Ich bin vor 1 Jahr von Adobe zu DXO gewechselt. Photolab 9 und Filmpack 8 decken alle meine Bedürfnisse mehr als gut ab. Zudem ist der Support sehr effizient und zeitnah.

Activation Issues with a New Computer - SOLVED!

I have been a DxO customer for several years and own multiple products including PhotoLab 7, PureRAW version 1, and Nik Collection 5 and have been happy with the DxO products.
Recently I replaced two computers that previously had my DxO software activated. Because those machines no longer exist, I opened support ticket #634695 to request a reset of the activation count so I can activate the software on my new computer. PhotoLab 7 did activate successfully.
My DxO account clearly shows the products I purchased along with the license keys and download links. I have also provided screenshots and detailed explanations in the support emails.
Over the past week there have been numerous email exchanges with support, but the issue has not yet been resolved and the responses seem to repeat questions that were already answered.
The request itself is straightforward: I simply need the activation counts reset for software I already own - PureRaw version 1 and Nik Collection version 5..
I like DxO products and have enjoyed using them for my photography. I am hopeful someone from DxO can review ticket #634695 and help resolve this activation reset so I can continue using the software.

UPDATE: DxO reviewed my ticket and reset the activations for my licenses. PureRAW and Nik Collection are now activated on my new computer. Thank you for resolving the issue.

We noticed your Trustpilot review and would like to clarify the situation.

In your initial message (support ticket #634695), you referred to DxO PureRAW 5, which led our team to investigate that version first. However, the activation key you later provided corresponds to DxO PureRAW 1, which is the product actually registered under your account. This misunderstanding unfortunately caused unnecessary back-and-forth during the support exchange.

Please also note that reinstalling older software on a new computer, particularly with a newer operating system, should always be subject to a compatibility check beforehand.

In any case, we have now granted an additional activation for both DxO PureRAW 1 and Nik Collection 5, so you should be able to reactivate them on your new computer without issue.

If everything is now working as expected, please feel free to update your Trustpilot review to reflect the resolution.

The greatest software…

Apart from being the greatest software in the photographic universe, the support team behind DxO is also the best I have ever experienced. There is no doubt I could go on for hours about what the software has done for my photography and how when stuck with a problem, they have emailed solutions.
I have recommended their software to everyone I know on Flickr and will continue to do so, adding just how revolutionary the software is and some how evolves every year or so, to be even better, giving amateur and professional alike the ability to have a freedom to use our cameras and creative minds to their utmost potential.

The noise reduction capability is…

The noise reduction capability is excellent, but the fact that you can't see the result until saving is a big negative to the workflow.

Regarding previewing the result, the corrections can be evaluated directly in the image when zoomed to around 75% or higher, where the processing becomes visible. You can also use the loupe tool to inspect the effect of the corrections more precisely.

It’s also worth noting that the preview performance can depend on the capabilities of your GPU, which may influence how quickly and smoothly the result appears during editing.

I’ve been a professional portrait and…

I’ve been a professional portrait and wedding photographer 39 years now, and now had DxO software for the past 15+/- years…. My most recent primary editing computer finally decided to take its last breath after many many dedicated years. I’m making my new purchases I had to also upgrade my antiquated software and the assistance I received from DxO in getting everything current and up and running went far more smoothly than I was expecting… Thx for the help!
