This charge is a complete rip off, 2 minutes and it costs £10. How is this right? Why isn't the government doing something about it. How much money does this generate for gatwick for driving over a 300 metre piece of tar-mac. You cant always use the train or a different airport. There is no competition and it should be regulated.

Ridiculous price of £10/- for a five minute dropoff! Pure ripoff. The airport looks a mess and looks like a third world airport. All the profits seem to go to the wrong people and nothing put into the airport! Great Britain now becoming Poor Britain. Something needs to be done to stop these stupid increases

went to drop baby seats off in Avis car rental and then left - checked the website on my reg that night and next day to see if i needed to pay - and it said nothing was registered under my car. few days later got a £60 fine rather than the £100 or £10 - such a rip off @ Gatwick - very poor service and poor reliability on technology

I payed £10 drop of on the 1 July then got a fine for not paying it has any one had a problem like this I paid 60 pound without relying I all ready payed it

Dropped off 04:14 left 04:16 (I have a tracker in my car shows all journey times both start and finish)
Tried several times today to pay online, (just enter vehicle Reg)
System message "unable to identify vehicle".
So I clicked the "Register Drop Off" button to Pay.
System asks Vehicle Reg and you select time from a drop-down list.
I choose 04:15 (nearest to actual entry time)
Then asks for email address.
Next page to enter credit card number showed
Entry time 04:15 Exit Time 04:40
They have added 25 minutes to the selected entry time.
I didn't pay as they would take £10 now and then bill me for the extra time.
What an absolute joke.

I phoned customer service and they found my car and time of 04:16. but she admitted they don't know is that the entry time or exit time. Only have one time. How convenient.
Ill try again tomorrow online.

Unbelievable rip off. You pay £10 for 2 min drop off plus they charged on dropoff.gatwickairport.com a service charge of £16 in addition!!!

Drop off parking is a scam

Rip off merchants.
Added my son's car to my auto pay account the day before my wife used his car to drop him and his wife off at Gatwick South terminal drop off.
Then get a penalty charge through the post.
Challenged the penalty sending them screen shots of the confirmation email they sent to me confirming the car had been added to my account the day before and time of the transaction and that the payment card was logged...
and still they say we did not conform to the terms and conditions.
Absolute joke

Wow - so now it’s £10 drop off, probably be £12 by August. Gatwick owners ramping up the drop off about 4x inflation. Even better, no staff on to help guide or ask people to park up briefly - so what does this money pay for exactly? As other customers say below, there is a complete contempt for passengers trying to not have to park at the expensive car parks - well done Gatwick Airport, no morals, no ethical values!
Go on Gatwick, actually respond to these comments!!?

**Unfair Policy That Needs Changing**

I accidentally took a wrong turn while heading to the short-stay car park and briefly drove through the drop-off zone. I did not stop, drop off a passenger, or use the facility in any way, yet I was charged £10.

The issue is not the charge itself, but the policy behind it. A system that charges drivers the full fee even when they have not stopped or used the drop-off area is clearly unfair.

This raises an important question: is the purpose of the scheme, operated with NCP, to prevent vehicles from lingering in the drop-off zone, or is it primarily to generate revenue from travellers who have few practical alternatives?

If the objective is traffic management, a simple solution would be to introduce a short grace period or make the first 5 minutes free before charges apply. This would deter extended stays while avoiding penalties for drivers who make a genuine mistake.

Charging £10 simply for passing through due to a wrong turn feels disproportionate and unreasonable. Gatwick Airport and NCP should review this policy and introduce a fairer approach that distinguishes between actual use of the facility and genuine driver error.

This is whats wrong with this country. Scummers like NPC company pocketing millions from people and the government allows it. Their excuse? Will raise it to double just for passing by to keep congestion down. No where else this happens only in UK. Should be proud of yourselves

I love Gatwick and have been using it for decades . But £10 for a drop of or collection charge is insane & pure greed ! It was always free till a few years ago. £5 , now £10 ! They just see people as money ! Not customers ! It's a cost of living crisis & everything is already super expensive !
Just shows pure contempt for people and utterly Sickening !

Left short stay car park and due to poor lighting and poor signage did a loop through the south terminal drop off zone. Didn’t stop, why would I ? , having just left the short stay car park. Paid the £10 fine ( it’s not a fee, since I never stopped) because no guarantee that waiting for a fine and appealing would succeed. In this day and age the technology should differentiate between those stopping and those making an error. They should use some of the ill gotten gains to put up decent signs and lighting. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth and likelihood to advise people to use other locations.

after paying the £10 fee online j was somehow signed up to a complete savings buying group charging me £18 /month. When I enquired where this buying group had got my card details it was from the gatwick drop off charge payment. This is something I would never have wittingly signed up to. beware of these rip off merchants.

What a scam charging someone to pick up family to the tune of £10 for 47 seconds......what is this charge for and yet another way to screw more money out of people

Gatwick Drop Off Zone SCAM
Awful signage directs you from the long stay carpark into a road that ends in the drop off zone, and results in a £60 charge because you do not know that as you were not dropping someone off you will still be charged. In the zone for about 46 seconds - clearly not driopping ooff - but the robbing bastards charge anyway.

Scammers.
Tried to pay same day but their webpage was not working. Sent an email to which I got an automated reply. Went again the following day and paid with no problem.
Some time later I received a letter saying that I could pay a reduced fine of £15 for not paying on the day!
I replied to say that I had tried to pay but the problem was their webpage and that I was prepared to pay the £6 charge. They ignored that and today I have received a letter from a debt recovery company who have said that if I don't pay the now £170 They will take me to court and I will probably receive a CCJ.
This company is run by a group of criminals who are getting money by extortion.
