I bought a Cub Cadet Ultima ZT1-54 in April of 2024 (Model Number: 17AREACM010). Mower cuts great, is a bit loud and eats the gas pretty quickly. My biggest complaint is the tiny battery in there, it did not even last a full summer season. By August of 2024, I was jumping the mower to start it. This year, the battery will not even take a charge. Just beware that they put junk batteries in these machines.

Purchase the cub cadet sit down dual handle mower. When it works it works well. The problem is getting it to work.
Had for less than a month. Wouldn't start. Had to fight with the company about warrenty. 4 months later got it
fixed. Seat sensor. Have used it twice e since again not working.
The company customers service sucks so does their equipment. If you
purchase one after reading this your an idiot. Have used it less than 4 times. Expensive piece of junk!!

Company says it either has to run on a half choke or under a load.

But it does not work properly.

Widespread defective engines.

We bought a snow blower two years ago. $1500.00 !!!
This is the third winter. The cord that engages the blade breaks all the time. We have replaced about 8 of them so far. Very unreliable. We wish we never bought it and will not replace it with another cub cadet machine.

Purchased a Cub Cadet lawn tractor from Tractor Supply. Refused to start when testing in the store, so they installed a battery from another tractor sitting on the lot. Engine still did not turn over well, but it started. First six months of usage the tractor barely started and most times wouldn't. Called Cub on four separate occasions and they wanted me to take it to a service center 95 miles away. Decided to replace battery on my own and wallah, the tractor started great. Talked to Cub about picking up the tab for the new battery, but they refused. Said I didn't following proper protocol. Kept explaining it would cost more to rent a trailer, haul the tractor 180 miles round trip. Told them to just write a check and I would be satisfied. They calculated the value of the battery at $20 since it had been eight months from when the tractor was purchased. Still want me to drive 180 miles round trip to have "their certified service center" declare it is a bad battery. I had the battery checked out by Batteries + and offered a signed affidavit in leu of traveling almost 200 miles for $20. Cub again refused. So instead of just sending a check for $20, they now have an angry customer who will never purchase a Cub Cadet product again. Absurd!! Furthermore, their customer service reps are very rude and constantly interrupt. I was promised on four separate occasions that a supervisor/manager would call me in 24-48 hours, but it never happened. Cub Cadet did everything they could to not honor the warranty. I can't believe how petty they are over $20. I really wanted to be compensated for the bad battery that came with the tractor and I would have been a very, very, satisfied customer. What a pity they lost a customer forever. Next time honor your warranty and own it.

I bought a Cub Cadet XT1 thinking it was made a company with a good reputation. First the tractor itself seems well designed. It operates smoothly, turns easily and has a tight turning radius. The Briggs & Stratton engine is basically just okay as sometimes it is harder to start and a lot of times it backfires when turned off. I would rate the tractor part 4.3 stars.

The worst part is the mower deck. It is not designed to have a a vacuuming effect on the grass, as I see long blades laid over on area I just cut. I bought the bagger kit and it is a disappointment. It only has 2 bins where my Husqvarna had 3, hence only two thirds the capacity. It provides no means of knowing when the bags are full. They think a translucent chute is adequate to let you look at to see if there is thruput. Wrong, as it gets dirty and impossible to see any material passing through it. It is not easy in removing the chute to clear clogs. The design of the chute attachment made it almost impossible to get into my shed with a 5 foot wide door opening.

Now back to the mower deck with the rear bagger in place: When cutting an area with leaves for fall pick up (the reason I bought the bagger) the mower deck blows lots of leaves forward and to the right. This makes me have to go over areas I had already cut and never really collecting all of the leaves as it perpetually blows leaves forward to the right. So I rate the mower deck 1 star (zero if allowed) and the bagger 2 stars.

This is my 4th riding mower in 50 years, all with 39 to 42 inch cutting decks I had my Husqvarna for 20 years and unfortunately its transaxle died. If a new one was available I would have just repaired it.

Whereto start, Stephanie not a good customer service person, Kyle,as well as Mandy. Hung up, would not hang up so I can leave a review. 4 days over purchase date Home Depot would not allow a return. Sterring pulls to.the right, bagger insufficient collection, blow back.

Poorly engineered. Absolutely no helpful information available online to fix any of it's many issues yourself. Zero thought put into making it operator friendly. Worst $8k I have ever spent.

Bought a Cub Cadet whipper snipper, brand new, which was talked up from the sales rep. "These are great", "You will never have a problem with this"
"Its worth the money" "These are a new model" etc etc etc.
Paid full price, totally thinking we had bought a great unit that would last a decent while. It worked really well, at first. We had it less than 2 years when the carby crapped out, no revs, no engine power, no high powered spinning blade to decimate the triffids growing on the hill. No problem, will just get the carby fixed & good to go, BUT NO!! Upon enquiries, I discovered that Cub Cadet no longer makes these OR sells spare parts. Try to get 2nd hand part - its an issue, as all mower dealers are now aware of said problem. This seems to be a running theme for Cub Cadet. Make a crappy product, push it in sales, then cease making it when the customer complaints get too high.
If you see these on "Sale", don't buy it, instead, take your money, take your lighter & set said money on fire. Trust me, you will get more enjoyment.
The moral of the story is - DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO BUYING A CUB CADET HEDGE TRIMMER, OR WHIPPER SNIPPER !!
YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF!!
All mower stores / repairers will have to flog off all their "old stock", fully knowing that its a POS & you wont be able to repair it. EVER.
We basically paid $700 for a useless piece of machinery that is only good for landfill, & cannot be repaired.
I am beyond pissed. BEWARE! Cub Cadet is a crappy company that is only out for your money. Will NEVER buy anything from that brand again. Spread the word!

I have an older model 2005 LT 1046 46 inch deck I received about 2 1/2 months ago had to rebuild most of it. It has 950 hours. Welding had to be done because of cracks in weak points between the parts manual and owners manual. A lot of things are left out to figure out on your own, as far as I’m concerned, cub cadet engineers at least in this year are the worst they should be executed for the stupidity that I’ve gone through very bad design in a lot of areas also cheaply design I have a GT 235 John Deere unfortunately while cutting up a tree In a storm, another tree came down and crushed, it story of my life. I love my John Deere. The best of the best is now at rest good luck with your cub cadets although mine is running well it’s still doesn’t take away from the stupidity I’ve dealt with.

Long story short, we received two lawn mowers when we purchased our home from the previous owners. A rider XT1 with a "Cub Cadet" engine and a pushmower. The push mower, less than 5 years old, has a deck that is nearly rusted through *on top* of the deck.
The design of the steering linkage on the XT1 shows it makes contact with the OEM oil filter, crushing it and rubbing through. We ended up finding a newer (2022) XT1 which had a blown engine and it appears it suffers the same oil filter damage as ours. So, this leads me to conclude this is not a "one off" rider that we have.
For a 2022 mower, there are NO engines available from the manufacturer or elsewhere. Not only does it appear that Cub Cadet/MTD doesn't care about their customers, they don't care about helping us or dealers when catastrophic damage happens.

What an absolutely useless company. Because of this experience, we'll never buy a Cub Cadet or any of the MTD owned brands.

I had an old Cub Cadet and it was a wonderful machine, after 20 years we needed a replacement and bought a very cub cadet expensive zero turn to replace it. BIGGEST mistake I have ever made. We have had the spindles break, deck crack, and have sunk more money into it than our vehicles and we have owned it for 2 years. Warranty claims is was due to "impact" which we have nothing to hit in our yard... then they blamed it on sandy soil... that the sand causes it to shake which causes the spindles to wear out the holes and it gets loose... we bought the "heavy" duty blades and we bought the machine in sand country. They also put the blades on backwards once. Customer service will take HOURS to reach and then they'll tell you that they will call you back, they wont. STAY AWAY. If we hadnt spent almost $10,000 on it, we would just junk it.

my lithium ion cub cadet riding mower battery died ..after 1 year and has been in the repair shop for over 10 months waiting for a new one under warranty.their customer is horrible and after waiting on the line for over an hour every time they only tell you what you want to hear not remedy the issue.having buyers remorse in the worst way.even if i ever get it back i would never sell it to my worst enemy.

Working for a lawn company I've seen plenty of these zero turns in use. Every time I've seen one bought brand new right off the lot, no more than two months later they are getting motor problems, things start falling apart amongst other things. They are not worth more than $100 just to use for parts. Maybe.

CUB CADET XT2 QR106 106cm / 42″ 726cc Petrol Lawn Tractor. Purchased 6 months
15 mins after using it for the first time the grass collector stopped collecting grass. Then it stopped cutting altogether. Turned out the belt had broken and the colletion shute was blocked with grass. went back to seller they replaced belt and charged me for collection and return. Within minutes of its return it stopped collecting grass again. I was told I would have to take of the grass holder unscrew some sort of plate and remove the grass trapped in the shute. I realised this was going to happen every five mins. Gave up and carried on cutting without collecting the grass. It stopped cutting again - presumably the belt has broken again. In fact it only cuts short dry grass. Totally uselss mower. Told supplier I wanted to send it back becasue it was useless. They wanted to check it out. I told them I would NOT be paying for further repair of an usless badly designed machine. They did not turn up to collect it so I am now considering my next option.

The dealer lied to us. When we talked to customer service they did not give us any solutions. They were very rude.

Very LOUD. Cub Cadet has perfected the art of making maintenance (taking then deck off and replacing blades) next to impossible. I didn't like the time and effort it took to change my John Deere's blades so I figured I would try Cub Cadet. Cub Cadet amazed me by the engineering it took to make changing blades so difficult.

The worst company I've had the pleasure of dealing with. They can't even get their financial act together. I bought a new riding mower and had it set up for monthly payments, and when they didn't take the 1st payment I phoned the dealer. The second month I was told and was Reay for the double payment. It did not come out of the account, and they decided to send me.late payment charges of $80. I'm still trying to have this resolved, and if if doesn't happen soon I will get my down payment back and buy another brand of lawnmower
