Antes de abandonar as nossas instalações, o cliente deve proceder à inspecção da viatura e comparar os danos assinalados na respectiva ficha com os verificados presencialmente.
Em caso de discrepâncias, o cliente deve comunicá-las imediatamente a um dos nossos representantes para actualização do documento.

A CRC coloca ao dispor dos seus clientes serviços de protecção, para os casos em que os mesmos não pretendam ficar responsáveis por danos provocados à viatura durante o seu período de aluguer.

Uma vez que não foi possível identificar o seu contrato de aluguer, solicitamos que nos envie esta informação para o email customerservice@crcrental.pt para que a situação possa ser devidamente analisada e acompanhada.

2 Dangerous cars & unfair damage charges - AVOID!

In the last few months CRC have given me 2 dangerous unroadworthy cars. The first (last Sept & Oct) had its exhaust hanging off (we found this out on returning the car having reported a strange noise underneath). Fortunately our photos proved the damage was clealy there at collection. Just recently we were given a car with a badly damage windscreen (hard to see from distance). This time our multiple photos provide the damage was again on the car at collection but the staff & manager REFUSED to closely study our very clear photographic evidence & charged me nearly 1000 Euros on the spot. After a distressful few days and emails to customer services, my insurance & credit card company CRC did eventually refund me but this is holiday stress you can avoid by using another more professional company. In our experience this company does NOT check its cars carefully before release & then forces the customer to prove their innocence after being charged for damage they hadn't originally caused. AVOID!

It is important to note that, under our terms and conditions, any damage to the vehicle at the end of the rental is charged accordingly. However, we also have a refund policy if it is determined that the driver was not at fault (e.g. accidents) or if the actual repair costs are less than originally invoiced.

Regarding the damage found on your most recent rental, your first email was received on Feb. 1st, and it was promptly replied to on the day after, Feb. 2nd.
Having confirmed that the damage was pre-existing, the full amount was refunded immediately, together with an upgrade voucher for your next rental with CRC/Wheego Portugal Lisbon.

Our goal is customer satisfaction, and our services are focused on providing prompt responses based on the information shared by the customer and on our internal records.
As demonstrated in this case, the matter was concluded within 24 hours of your email and within 48 hours of the vehicle’s return (31/01/2026).

We regret that this situation caused inconvenience during your stay.
However, after reviewing the case, we did not find any reason to support the complaint regarding the services provided.
This case shows our commitment to carefully reviewing all concerns raised and resolving them promptly and fairly. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us continue to improve our service.

unclear and overcharged insurnace

Had a confirmed booking for €93.63.
On arrival late at night, I was told my reservation was cancelled and charged €409.82 to get a car.

The company later stated that the extra cost was due to added insurance, which I did not request but it was added, resulting in a significant overcharge. A refund was provided after a lenghty email conversation.

Overall, an unclear and disappointing experience.

Wir wurden um viel Geld betrogen. Wie und warum würde hier den Rahmen sprengen. Eine Anzeige ist erstattet und das Gerichtverfahren gegen diese Firma eingeleitet. Ich gebe ihnen den Rat bei dieser Firma auf keinen Fall ein Fahrzeug zu leihen.

1.5 hour wait at desk

I hired a car from them at Lisbon Airport on the 23rd December. I was very disappointed that it took almost 1.5 hours from I arrived at their counter until I was able to collect the car. How it can take some car hire companies so long to dish out a car is difficult to understand especially when it has been booked and paid for weeks in advance! Many hire companies can do it in less than 10 minutes!

Attention: this car rental company only has positive reviews because, most likely, they create fake accounts to boost their ratings.

I’ll share my experience. On the day I picked up the car, everything already felt strange. The employee kept insisting on whether I had insurance and made a suspicious expression when he found out I was fully covered.

When the vehicle was handed over, no inspection was done with me, and I was not given any inspection report. I asked about this document, and the employee said I would receive it later by email. Regarding the initial inspection, he claimed it had already been done.

I rented the car for one week. On the day of return, despite advertising themselves as a 24-hour airport rental company, the office was closed. I parked the car in front of the rental office and dropped the key in the drop-off box as instructed.

The car was apparently in perfect condition, as I had personally inspected and cleaned it the day before.

While standing in line at the airport to board my flight home, I received a €600 charge on my card from this rental company.

I immediately called to ask what had happened, and they claimed the car had damage. I requested a photo to see the alleged issue.

They sent me a picture of a ridiculous “damage” near the wheel cover. From the photo, it looks like something around 3 centimeters.

What’s most interesting is that the area already appears to have paint removed, giving the impression that this is something they do frequently — removing paint and repainting later.

Even if it were proven that I caused this damage, it would never cost €600 to repair.

I filed a claim with my insurance company for reimbursement. Rightfully, the insurer requested the repair invoice. That invoice was never provided, because the repair was never done — and even if it had been, it would not justify that amount.

❌ Do not rent from this company. Ever.

UPDATED: Dear Jack Sowell, Following up on the four negative reviews posted on several platforms, we believe to be only fair to reply to your claims, first by email and then online.

In reference to your statements, we choose to clarify each point, one by one:

-- No, we don't. All our reviews, good and bad, are created by real customers who decide how to rate us.
-- It's the CRC representative's duty to inform about all the services available at the desk. Customers can choose from personal accident insurance up to full coverage, which removes damage charges at the end of the rental and reduces the excess from €1,600 to €500. It is a similar option to the cover purchased through the online partner, but it requires that any damage must be paid at the counter, and any reimbursement is only considered after the damage is assessed once the rental agreement is closed, and the decision rests with the insurer.
-- As CRC operates as a paperless company, customers should not leave our premises without first confirming that they have received the rental agreement in their email inbox. This confirmation can only be carried out by the customer. In situations where the digital documents are not available, the customer must request the physical (paper) copies so that they can review the rental conditions and any recorded damages. These documents include the car condition form that allows the customer to confirm if all the existing damages are registered, and also serve as proof that the vehicle is rented in the customer’s name, should this be required by the competent authorities.
-- No car rental company is open 24/7. We are at our customers' disposal from 7 am till 11 pm, and whenever an out-of-hours service is required and confirmed.
-- The Key-box service requires confirmation. The service should have been requested prior to the car return date.
-- The debit was registered at 07:34, so just after opening hours, when the car was collected from the outside parking area, and damage to the right-hand edge of the mudguard was identified.
-- It's not a "ridiculous damage", it is deep and affected the entire corner of this vehicle part, as shown in the pictures sent to you, included in a formal damage report with all the information required by the insurance companies.
-- The repair invoice was sent to you by December 12th, and you wrote all these claims in all our online channels, exactly one month after it was sent. We believe that the subscribed coverage didn't include damages, as our reports are accepted by all insurance companies.

We therefore regret the opinion expressed regarding the services provided and the decision to share information that does not reflect the actual circumstances of your rental or the service delivered by CRC.

Customer satisfaction remains a priority for us. We take all feedback seriously, as it helps us identify areas for improvement and continue to enhance the quality and transparency of our service.
Each situation is reviewed carefully and fairly to ensure a professional and consistent customer experience.

PESSIMA ESPERIENZA

Abbiamo noleggiato un'auto ad agosto 2025 presso CRC car rental lisbona. Al momento Di consegnare l'auto mi hanno detto che sul cerchione anteriore destro c'era un graffietto praticamente invisibile. Non so se sono stato io o meno a causare il graffietto praticamente invisibile ma loro mi hanno detto che non avevo un video che dimostrasse che il graffietto non c'era alla consegna dell'auto e che quindi dovevo pagare. Mi hanno addebitato quasi 400 euro!! Mi sono lamentato per l'importo eccessivo ( secondo me poteva essere sistemato con una passata di pasta abrasiva) ma loro mi hanno detto che mi prendevano 400 euro perché dovevano verificare che non vi fossero anche danni alla sospensione o al braccetto dietro la ruota e che dovevo stare tranquillo perché, se dopo la loro verifica risultava solo il graffietto mi avrebbero ridato la differenza tra l'importo addebitato ed il danno effettivo entro 20 giorni. La compagnia non mi ha mai restituito la differenza e non ha mai chiamato. Ho scritto moltissime volte al customer care che mi ha risposto che non mi dovevano nessuna differenza. Esperienza davvero PESSIMA NON MI VEDRANNO MAI PIU.

Je me présente le 24/12/2025 au…

Je me présente le 24/12/2025 au comptoir. L’agent présent ne daigne pas répondre à mon salut. Je lui dit avoir loué une auto et qu’il me reste à régler le boîtier pour la via verde. Ce dernier me parle alors de franchise. J’ai compris qu’il me demandait si je souhaitais le rachat de franchise. J’ai répondu par la négative car pour moi il s’agissait d’une garantie que j’avais déjà, couverte par ma carte de crédit et en revanche il ne parlait pas de cela visiblement. Je comprend aujourd’hui que la ruse est bien rôdée, on vous pose la question de savoir si vous voulez une réduction de franchise au lieu de vous demander si vous souhaitez prendre une assurance tous risques. Ainsi si vous répondez par la négative à la question, on vous applique une assurance tous risque que vous ne souhaitiez pas contracter. Sans que l’agent n’en fasse jamais mention ni ne récapitule ce que vous avez payé. Il vous parle simplement d’une caution qui vous sera restituée à votre retour. La surprise arrive à la fin. Vous restituez le véhicule et on vous dit que la caution de 300€ vous a été restituée quand il n’en est rien mais surtout vous constatez à ce moment qu’on vous a prélevé 272€ pour couvrir une assurance tous risques dont vous n’avez pas fait la demande et dont personne n’a fait mention à l’agence. Après appel au service clients concerné on vous explique que tout contrat doit être vérifié avant d’être signé. C’est très juste mais la façon de faire a été incorrecte et détournée. Le client attend de la clarté de la part de l’agence quand il s’agit de souscrire un contrat. Ce qui est très loins d’avoir été le cas. Plus jamais pour moi. La malhonnêteté ne paie pas. Je ne recommanderais pas

Like other reviewers mentioned, this company will do everything they can to abuse you when you return the car. We returned the car in good condition, but they charge us 50 euro in "damage" because there was some dirt on the carpet!

When we complained this was unacceptable, the person doing the inspection told us straight off that they would not bring us to the airport as we were promised.

This is not an honest car rental company. Their staff have internalized their bad policies and will mistreat you instead of apologizing for being forced to apply bad policies.

We all know that all car rental clean the cars between customers. Charging 50 euro for the cleaning when we need to leave for the airport and are in an impossible position to challenge them is truly awful.

Avoid this company.

SCAMMERS!

SCAMMERS!! Please also read other reviews and you’ll notice is how they operate. Do not rent with them! They charged us 307.50 for a rim that we didn’t damage. Make sure that you take clear videos of every part of the car because otherwise this is what happens. Clearly stealing! They didn’t even show the price list for charging us the rim saying it’s an internal price list and they can’t show. Untrustworthy rental company. Never again!

Very poor and agressive customer service

Hire from 26 September to 15 October 2025, Lisbon.
The check-in process was slow, and the Agent was very aggressive trying to sell the excess waiver cover , and overcharge us for cover to drive in Spain.
The experience of returning the car three weeks later was a disgrace by any standard. The receiving Agent immediately searched for any damage without reference to the form which noted all damage when we picked up the car. Fortunately I had taken plenty of photos so I could refute most of his claims. When he eventually found a small scratch that I could not refute, he charged 900 euros immediately, which was massively out of proportion to the damage. They also charged 50 euros for interior cleaning; we had hired the car for 3 weeks and it was not particularly dirty. Within one hour 1100 euros including tax had been charged to my credit card.
For nearly 2 weeks I chased a full damage report from CRC and received no response. I then contacted Zest, the agent/broker who I had hired the car through, and they obviously chased CRC because I then received breakdown of the charges, but still no damage report. After another week of chasing CRC and Zest, I received a damage report and a revised total charge of 333 euros, and no cleaning charge. CRC refunded the balance quickly.
I believe that CRC would have NOT corrected the damage charge or refunded anything if I had not aggressively chased a proper solution.
I have hired cars abroad many times; this was the worst experience of customer service and blatant attempts to charge excessive fees for minor damage. I would not go near CRC again, and I believe that Zest should not operate with them
In fairness the car, a VW T Cross, was very satisfactory and a reasonable price.

I wish I had read these reviews before hiring from these criminals. I hired a car Nov 15-22 and noticed damage on the rims which I took pictures of. When I returned they found the tiniest mark on one of the doors which they claimed I had caused. It as barely visible to the naked eye. The man said he would get someone to look at it a few days later and he would let me know. But as we drove away in the minibus he had taken £380 from my credit card. I was fuming. Fortunately I took out the full insurance from the broker in England so should be covered. Avoid this company.

Wir haben das gleiche erlebt wie viele andere hier auch.
Die Firma ist nicht wie angegeben im Terminal.
Dann mussten wir bei Abholung den doppelten Preis zahlen.
Natürlich hätten wir ablehnen können, hätten dann aber spät Abends im Industriegebiet ohne Auto gestanden und hatten noch eine Stunde Fahrt zum Hotel zu uns.
Bei der Abgabe war das Fahrzeug natürlich verschmutzt, der Mitarbeiter wusste aber merkwürdigerweise genau, wo er ganz weit unten ein wenig Schmutz entfernen musste um darunter einen winzigen, kaum sichtbaren Kratzer zu finden der uns mit 450 Euro berechnet wurde.
Finger weg von dieser unseriösen Firma!

Avoid CRC Lisbon Airport

We were a larger group who rented two minibuses for a holiday in the Lisbon area at the end of October 2025.

When picking up the vehicles, several scratches and dents were found, which we were instructed to film and document. When renting through a third party, we also took out additional insurance that was supposed to cover any damages, but the deposit required for the CRC rental was extremely high.

After our rental week, the vehicles were returned in the same condition as when we picked them up. After a long inspection by the company’s representative, a tiny dent was pointed out on the left front door. The dent was incredibly hard to see with the naked eye, but CRC’s representative spotted it immediately (very suspicious, and most likely a damage many customers have already been charged for).

CRC demanded payment for the damage and immediately took part of the deposit. Since we strongly disagreed on site, an unpleasant atmosphere arose — something I’ve never experienced with a car rental company before. CRC is a company you should AVOID, as they will do everything they can to claim you caused damages and then charge you for them. Absolutely shameless.
