Stay away from City Car Rental
Stay away from this rental company. Their rental process is slow as they are understaffed. They rent old trouble-prone cars. Not only did our car fail, but we had to wait while other customers returned theirs after being stranded. Our car failed catastrophically and City Car Rental's "roadside assistance" did not help us in a timely fashion. We were left to solicit help from local residents in the middle of nowhere. Their roadside assistance even suggested hitchhiking. If not for a good Samaritan we would have spent all night in the broken down car. We had to adjust our vacation timeline and lost valuable time and money.
Spend the extra money and utilize a reputable car rental company or you will likely have a bad experience. I know for a fact that our experience was not an exception, as I witnessed other angry renters while in their waiting room. This rental company was a blight on our otherwise wonderful visit to Iceland.

CAR BROKE DOWN, LEFT US STRANDED
The car blew a head gasket without warning, leaving us stranded by the side of the road. When we called roadside assistance, the rental agency kept lagging in their responses, until they FINALLY said they'd bring a mechanic to us, which we knew we didn't need, as the car was toast! They then ended up making us lose an entire day of our trip, having to cancel and pay for our room for the night and book a new one with NO TRANSPORTATION ANYWHERE. Finally, at 1:30 pm the next day, they brought a new car. UNACCEPTABLE. Look up all their reviews - CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN HAVING THESE PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST FOUR YEARS!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. At the actual rental company, we overheard a woman at the front desk stating that City Car RENTED HER NOT ONE BUT TWO DEFECTIVE CARS IN A ROW. This is a dishonest business.

Friendly staff, some problems with experience
Staff provided good service, but...
- Took a while to get to the rental office for the airport and then get out on the road - hours, not minutes
- Poor car quality - old vehicle.
- Tire pressure warning light stayed on the whole time we had the car. We put air in and still had the same issue.
- USB plug for iPhone did not work.
