STAY AWAY FROM THIS WEBSITE! ONE OF THE WORST SCAM TRAPS EVER!
On November 22nd, I purchased a one-off car report from CheckMyCar for £1.95. What they do not make clear is that they immediately sneak a continuous recurring payment/direct debit mandate onto your card.
Starting just two days later on November 24th, they began secretly deducting £39.90 every single month from my bank account. They kept doing this quietly every month until I finally caught them on May 24th. In total, they have stolen £239.40 from me for a service I never agreed to, never signed up for, and never used!
This website relies on people not checking their bank statements immediately to bleed them dry. It is a completely predatory, deceptive subscription trap. Never ever use this website, stay far away, and save your money.

Warning! Nothing has changed regarding this website. If I had seen these reviews here I would have never visited their website. Similar bad experience to others here. Wanted to check one car history but was mislead to signing up to a monthly subscription. Never received an email outlining I had sign up to such a subscription. Also the charge appears on my bank account referring a different website which provides a free service. Contacted that other website and they have had other people emailing them for refunds from checkmycar.io. I contacted checkmycar.io and they simply said I had signed up to the monthly charge and cancelled it, no offer to refund me or even an apology. The "service" they offer is clearly misleading, has been raised with them several times yet they have not changed. Seems they are happy to benefit from misleading people. Stay away from them!

Scam
I like many others, have been a victim of obscure and hidden subscription fees that I did not knowingly consent to. The checkmycar website is vague in the extreme and verging on being illegal due to the crafty and misleading wording. Furthermore, for several days after I tried to cancel 'my subscription', I recieved multiple phishing scams via text and email which could easily be coincidence but all of them mentioned my bank by name and were not just generic. Be warned, this website is not to be trusted so please go elsewhere and read the small print before commiting yourself.

Police are involved as they have done this 100's of people

Span Subscription with no warning
I am raising a dispute with this company ‘HP Checkmycar’ (also trading as Checkmycar). I had paid for their service online for what I thought was an initial sum of £5.95. However, it was not made clear that by proceeding with the payment I would also pay for a monthly subscription of £39.90 two days later. I had not received any correspondence by email to confirm payment nor received any correspondence to say they had taken payment of the subscription for £39.90....no trace is how this company seems to operate, so please be very careful. I have tried to contact them on their number and by email and no response. I have also notified my bank about this company and they are dealing with this.

Absolute deceptions
Absolute deceptions, please refrain from purchasing anything from these websites. I remitted £5.95 in March 2025, and they subsequently withdrew £39.90 in April 2026, with an attempt to debit more in May 2026 from my account. I reached out to them following the April payment, but received no response to my correspondence. I have since contacted the Bank, which has flagged them as fraudulent within their system, and I have also notified authorities.

Unexpected charge on a credit card led…
Unexpected charge on a credit card led me to these reviews.
I can see from other reviews that people seem to have done a check on a vehicle and then been hit with a subscription charge, however, that’s not the case for us.
We have never used this service or even entered any details and yet a payment of £39 odd was taken in April. The same amount was just attempted again but the credit card company blocked it thankfully. If this hadn’t happened we wouldn’t have even noticed!
We have now frozen the card and flagged the previous payment as fraudulent because there is no way of us knowing how this company got the card details.
People beware. As the payment was taken it proves that checks are not being completed.

Checked one car with this company..steer clear
Checked one car with this company for £5.99 and it has so far cost me just over £200. I have contacted them through their contact us portal but they continue to take money from my account. I understand that their small print says you have to cancel subscription within 48hrs but it is well hidden. I am still trying to get them to stop taking money from my account and wouldn't go near this company. I am an OAP battling cancer and just dont know what to do. Just an update to say Checkmycar Ireland has refunded 5 payments of £39.90 which had been taken from my bank. I am really grateful to the company but wonder if they should make the cancellation criteria more obvious .

Trading standards issue
Along with most of the other 1,760 1-star reviewers, I was misled by this company's website into signing up to a time-unlimited subscription for £39 per month after receiving what I had intended to be a single vehicle report. My UK bank were aware of this recurring scam and have refunded the last payment. The Irish Trading Standards authorities, CCPC.ie, under whose jurisdiction this company operates, have been made aware of this clear example of business malpractice.
Postscript ...checkmycar's responses are factually incorrect, at least three payments of £39.90 have been taken from my bank card. I'd be happy to engage more on this forum if checkmycar undertakes to refund those payments.

I paid £5.95 for a car check report, and at no point was it made clear that I was signing up for any kind of subscription.
A few days later, I was unexpectedly charged nearly £40 without my knowledge or consent.
