Excellent service once again

Excellent service once again, I have been with Card Saver for a number of years now and this last interaction (renewing my contract) has again shown why I have stayed with them.
The sales staff are not pushy, knowledgeable in advising which bank to go with and the setting up of the machine (with the guidance from Paul) could not have been easier.
As you can gather, I highly recommend Card Saver.

Do not use card saver. Unfounded and mishandled legal challenges

I am sharing my experience with Card Saver to help others who may find themselves in a similar situation.

I received a communication in October 2020 claiming an account was in arrears, however I had never signed any contract with Card Saver, nor had I ever been provided with any agreement naming me as a contracting party.

Years later, the alleged debt was pursued by MIL Collections Ltd, despite no documentation ever being provided to support liability.

Throughout the process, I:
Formally disputed the alleged debt in writing
Requested a copy of any contract or agreement
Made it clear that no liability was acknowledged
Made no payments at any point
No contractual documentation was ever produced.

I also submitted a formal Subject Access Request (SAR) to Card Saver, following their own instructions and providing identification. To this date, that SAR has not been fulfilled, and no complete data disclosure has ever been provided.

This made it impossible to verify what data they were relying on or whether any lawful basis for processing existed.

Despite this, the alleged debt continued to be asserted via their agent.

The matter was ultimately returned to Card Saver by MIL Collections Ltd, and no further substantive response was received.

From my experience, there were:
Significant delays and lack of communication
Failure to provide requested documentation
Failure to comply with a SAR
Inconsistent and evasive responses

In terms of defending myself, I focused on:
Not acknowledging the debt
Requiring proof of any contract
Keeping everything in writing
Understanding that debts in Scotland are subject to a 5-year prescription period if not enforced

Based on the timeline, the alleged obligation is now extinguished under Scots law in any event.

This is not legal advice — but if you are in a similar position, it is worth checking:
Whether you actually signed anything
Whether the debt has been properly evidenced
Whether a SAR has been complied with
Whether time limits may apply

I would strongly recommend documenting everything carefully and seeking independent advice where needed.

Having received machine it was quiet…

Having received machine it was quiet straight forward to set up and operate. Not having any issues (yet). Paul rang to ask if we had received machine, and asked a few questions. Satisfied with the level of customer service and we know that he is only a phone call away

Contacted Card Saver for technical…

Contacted Card Saver for technical assistance 3 times over the last few days - issues with charger resolved within 30 minutes with replacement charger. Issues with second card machine communications problems resolved within 19 minutes of call commencing. Great customer service and personnel very helpful whilst explaining steps to be taken to resolve the issue.
