We called in for breakfast at the Capital Asset in Perth. Olivia was wonderful and couldn’t do enough for us. Food, service and staff were wonderful (value for money and smiles all the way).

No Keys or V5 or MOT and it's in limp mode

Won my bid for a range rover, listed as NO VAT (not no vat on part of the sale), which meant I only had to pay the additional 28% to the auctioneer. Only when I got the bill it included VAT for the auctioneer. Why wasn't that made clear? Also I paid for delivery and when the car landed there was no spare key or V5 so I cannot tax it until that's sorted out and the spare key will cost me a further £850+VAT - Getting information from these people is a mission in itself and we're not talking trivial amounts of money. They really need to Advertise the fact that there is no registration document for the car that they are selling and if there's one key; tell me there's one key. It could mean the difference between bidding and not. Not only that, no MOT so on the way the car has flashed a message "restricted performance" so when land rover checked it over there's a catalogue of required maintenance not least brakes, oil leak, turbo and DPS; this just gets better and better. They advertised as FSH from land rover, pathetic. It's put me off auctions for life.
TBPH Capital Asset Auctions reply does itself no favours at all they remove all accountability by hiding behind a coporate veil of deceit, at best the vehice description is misleading I mean how can a vehicle have a full service history yet need all four discs and pads within 5 months?
Edit: the land rover bill to get it through an MOT is over £4k to date and that's without the spare key and before it's even taxed because I cannot tax it or get a spare key with it not having a V5. which is apparently my fault.

We find it totally unfair that you would leave such a review and comments.

You registered to bid within our sale, which was advised to be a Trade Only - Non Consumer Sale within our Terms and Conditions.

You are correct that the vehicle that you successfully won was free from VAT.

The Buyers Premium Commission was advised within the "Additional Fees" tab, which was located within the Bidding box grey shaded area, Our Terms and Conditions that you agreed to when registering to bid gave clear advise regarding to the Buyers Premium Commission and VAT was applicable on this charge, This can be found under point 6 "Buyers Premium" and the following information is founds within "All ‘Buyers Premium’ charges are subject to VAT @ 20%"

No VAT as been charged on the sale of this vehicle, if it would have been, the VAT amount charged on the item would have been £4,420.

Your invoice shows that you paid £1,237.40 worth of VAT which is the VAT relating to the Buyers Premium Commission, This is charged as we are a VAT registered business, Sorry but we can not and will not do deals without VAT...


The item that you bought contained information, there was not information provided suggesting that a Spare Key or a Logbook was present, Our Terms and Conditions advise under point 10.6 - Documentation the following "Should any lot have anything such as:

V5 Log Book, Service History, Spare Key, Manufactures Warranty, Warranty Card Etc…

All which are available will be listed within the ‘Item Description’ anything not mentioned must be deemed as not available"

So it seems that you have also missed this information.

No MOT: Again, if something is not stated, it's deemed that it is not available.


In relation to mechanical condition, we allow full inspection on any item prior to bidding and the end of sale by any professional such as the AA, RAC, Green Flag etc etc to allow bidders to fully satisfy themselves before bidding and committing, this is again explained within our Terms and Conditions under point 9.1 - Inspection of lot "Capital Asset Auctions, Strongly advise and welcome any inspection on Lots listed within the sale, We welcome AA, RAC or an Independent Specialist to attend and inspect any Lot(s) listed which the ‘Account Holder’ intends to bid on (At the ‘Account Holders’ expense)

As a ’TRADE ONLY AUCTION’ we do not offer any grading system on any lot(s) listed within the sale, Which is why we allow inspections prior to bidding, Capital Asset Auctions will NOT accept any complaints of any defects if potential bidders should fail to view prior to biding.

*PLEASE NOTE*

All inspections are by strict appointment only & when Capital Asset Auctions can accommodate such inspections.

Such inspections can only be carried out prior to the ‘Account Holder’ placing any bids on any Lot(s) & prior to the auction ending.

We have checked and found that you did not take advantage of viewing or inspection prior to bidding, but this begs the question why not ?

History, A copy of LR history was provided and placed inside the vehicle glovebox for you, you was made aware of this on collection, But im sure this is something that we could assist with obtaining you a copy, if this is something that you would like, I suggest that you contact our office.

To conclude:

You bought this vehicle from a Trade Only sale where the onus falls to the bidder, as much as we try to understand, You failed to view or have the vehicle inspected to satisfy yourself prior to bidding, against the advise given within our Terms and Conditions, We must ask, Did you read the Terms and Conditions that you agreed to prior to your account being approved for bidding ?, we ask this as if you did, why you feel it ok to make such suggestions and comments is beyond us.

Due to the information supplied, we full expect that your poor review is either updated as good at the very least or removed.

I purchased a car from capital assets (worst decision of my life 😢)the advert stated regularly serviced, and all sounded good ,the hammer price went down at £19k got an invoice for £22.8k so paid it next day then got another invoice for £4560, so I phoned to see about cancelling my bid and transaction to be notified there would be a £5500 cancellation fee , so not wanting to loose that amount of money I committed to the purchase. So the car got delivered on a trailer (the transport company absolutely fantastic 👏🏻)upon arrival the bodywork was horrendous chipped paint bonnet misaligned back had been repaired badly the car had definitely been in a crash and badly repaired then got inside the car and was a lot worse , the car was flashing over due services 3x over due to be exact the car is in such bad condition and it only 2yrs old , I called capital asset to discuss this only to be told I should have read the terms and conditions, which is ironic because they are false advertising. Please people do your resume on these they are criminals should never be allowed to trade , I will be contacting the bidding platforms that they work on as the should not be supporting this company. These 5 🌟 reviews are lies

Avoid at all costs

Every negative comment on here is absolutely what happened to me everything rings true they are truly underhanded my bid was 30k on a car they turned this into nearly 50k with there hidden fees.
They even ended it early while I was on the phone to them.
I have looked at there positive reviews on here and they are posted by themselves be careful with these guys.

Happy with our new replacement vehicle

We registered to bid with Capital Asset though our I-Bidder account to buy a replacement van from my clothing business.

We was delighted to have won, settled our invoices Capital Asset arranged delivery for us at our expense, received delivery today, on time along with all documents.

Our van is booked in for our company sign writing on Saturday and can wait to see it on the road.
