First auction ever, Matt walked me through each step, landing a bargain BMW without stress.

Scam company, overcharging people send 2 invoices, first one hammer price + vat, admin fee £895 to £2000 + vat.
Second invoice
Buyers premium 20% + vat
Special condition (bidspotters fee) 20+vat.
Very threatening on the phone, i paid deposit and then my bank refused because they said they are a fraudulent company, however i got them to admit on the phone that they were charging 20% on behalf of bidspotter and written confirmation that they are doing this and who for, yet bidspotter claim they don’t charge.

Be careful . I wouldn't recommend buying any vehicles from them as it comes with loads of hidden problems.

If I could give a zero star I would. Beware of misleading fees of 20% commission as well as 20% 'special fee' and then £895 admin fee on top of all these fees. Won a watch for £7K and ended up paying close to £13k!! Deliberately confusing as they send you one invoice first and once you have paid it they then hit you with a second invoice with all the extra fees AND vat added to the lot and all the fees. Very confusing and misleading. STAY AWAY

I sold my car at this auction, at the same time I bought a new car off the same auction.
So I have experience to share from both sides.
Selling my car was simple.
I took the car to the auction house & handed over the keys & V5.
They valeted the vehicle & tidied it a little, stuck it on auction, it sold & I got every penny transferred into my bank account.
I bid & won a car on the same auction.
There were additional fees clearly shown on the auction. These were the normal 20% or so auction fees, as well as an additional £895 fee.
I wasn't too enamoured by the additional fee, some of it would be the valeting etc, but whether I liked it or not, it was clearly there & the bid I placed took all of the fees into consideration.
At the end of the day I got a 13k car for 7k.
I drove it away & have had no issues with it.
There are 2 invoices when you buy a car, but it's only 1 for the actual vehicle & the other for the fees.
It's not anything that I didn't now about.
Based on my experiences with auctions, I would say you can trust these, but please do not touch H & F International Ltd, they are the scammers of the auction world.

Shocking!!! Be aware of their trap system!

This company’s "second invoice" scheme is a completely deceptive and fraudulent practice that is unheard of in any reputable auction house. You only find out about this second invoice after you’ve already paid the first one!

For example, if you win an auction for £5,000, the first invoice you receive is around £7,100—which is a typical markup in auctions. However, after you pay this amount, they suddenly send you an additional invoice for £2,400! This brings your total payment to £9,500, which is nearly double the winning price!

The biggest issue here isn’t just the excessive fees. The real problem is that they deliberately hide these charges and use sneaky tactics to mislead people. The second invoice is not mentioned anywhere in their Terms & Conditions (T&C), nor in the initial invoice email. The so-called "Special Condition Charge" is also never disclosed—there’s no amount or percentage stated anywhere, making it a complete and deliberate trap! They know very well that if bidders knew the actual cost upfront, they wouldn’t participate in the auction at all.

Their system is entirely built on deception. First, they make you pay the initial invoice, and once the trap is set, they send the second invoice. If you try to dispute it, they don’t care, because they’ve already secured your first payment! Their customer service is extremely rude, dismissive, and condescending. If you tell them, “This is unacceptable, this will be my first and last purchase from you,” they shamelessly reply, “Just pay the second invoice first, then we will block your account anyway.”

What this company is doing is pure fraud. It is crystal clear that they designed this scam intentionally and have no regard for customer complaints. I don’t believe they will stop this fraudulent practice unless they are legally forced to. More people will continue to be deceived unless BidSpotter.co.uk immediately removes this company from their platform, and legal action is taken against them.

I sincerely hope their business shuts down as soon as possible before they can harm any more unsuspecting buyers!

What a shameless outfit, total cowboys hiding behind clever T&C's. Do not use this company, they charge 3X admin fee than any other auction house, buyers fee of 20% which is standard but then a 'Special condition charge' which is mentioned but no description as to what it is and also how much...another 20%! So like most I scanned through the T&C's but not picking up on this, purchased 2 vehicles. Paid in full as having read other reviews thought no choice but to pay their extortionate fees and sent 2 guys to collect from the back end of nowhere. When the guys returned it turns out one of the vehicles was not the one I was bidding on. The photos and video on the site were of a different van, if far better condition than the one we had. Again it was pointed out that in their T&C's they 'sometimes use library pictures of vehicles they are selling. I would not have bid on the actual vehicle that has DPD decal damage, one green rear door that we can't open, reverse camera that does not work (the one in the photos is shown working) shocking damage to the interior and broken and missing lights. So I called and spoke to Will who in a very passive agressive way suggested that my request to return and be refunded in full will not happen and suggested strongly not to throw money away by engaging a solicitor to recover. He offered to possibly come up with a solution and would get back to me. To keep things pleasant I agreed to see what he suggested. He promissed to come back to me the next day, that was 4 days ago. I will not let this go out of principle as he suggested they may refund the hammer price of £7K but they keep the £3695.00 in fees so they could relist it and sell it to another sucker. So next call is to my solicitor. I can only hope you read this before doing any business with these cowboys who totally misrepresented the van and rip you off in 'Special condition 20% fee' what ever that is. If you're interested look at the 5 star reviews, they are date clustered whenever there is a 1 star review...coincidence? I think not. Scumbags!!

Poor company to deal with my opinion would never to buy from them ever again !!!!!!

Purchased a Mercedes e-sprinter from Capital Asset Auctions. Requested extra photos as I wasn't able to go and view it prior to bidding. Matt sent them through to me within a couple of hours of my request which was great.
He made it a pleasant and easy experience for my first time of bidding and purchasing a van.
Collection experience was really good, although they could do with a sign which tells you who they are as there a few businesses sharing the same road. However, the guy that handed the vehicle over to me was super kind and helpful. He gave me some tips on driving an electric vehicle which was something I had never done previously. He even showed me a really useful app to download to help understand the range of the percentage left on the battery - what a star.
Other than the auction wording not stating this was an electric vehicle this was an easy and pleasant transaction and I'd be happy to use them again for future vehicle purchases.

The video tutorial available on their website helps for first time bidders (such as myself) for all aspects including:

• Registering
• Bidding Process
• Additional Charges

It seems majority of negative reviews left are for bidders not understanding the Additional Fees…

My suggestion, Simply contact Capital Asset directly to seek guidance or revert to their website (like i did) for a full video tutorial which just makes everything so simple, It really is that simple!

Capital Asset Auctions are now telling Trust Pilot that I was not a customer of theirs?? I purchased a Rolex in their auction, they set the auction price at a tempting level for weeks and lock you in if you bid, the item is then immediately marked as sold! trust me, they then take payment for the purchase but within 5 mins you will receive another “Special”invoice where they will quote the additional £3-£4000 +vat.

This is a honest review of my experience with Capital Asset Auctions and am happy to discuss with a lawyer.

Delighted with our Land Rover Defender and Rolex for my wife’s Christmas present, fast easy transaction.
