Failure to Disclose Potential Pre-Existing Defect
I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Cadillac of South San Francisco (775 Serramonte Blvd, Colma, CA 94014).
On October 15, 2025, I purchased a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E from this dealership. The vehicle was sold as-is, and no mechanical issues, prior damage, or concerns were disclosed at the time of sale. Given that it was a 2023 model vehicle being sold at market value, I had no reason to believe there were any major underlying problems.
However, on January 31, 2026 — just over three months after purchase — the vehicle suffered a catastrophic mechanical failure. I was informed that the estimated repair cost is approximately $9,000. For a vehicle of this age and value, a major failure of this magnitude so soon after purchase is extremely concerning.
After the breakdown, I contacted the dealership and spoke with multiple managers in an effort to resolve the situation in good faith. Rather than showing concern or offering any form of assistance, I was told they would not help because the vehicle was sold as-is. There was no willingness to review the situation, no offer to inspect the vehicle, and no attempt to work toward a reasonable resolution.
While I understand what “as-is” means, I believe customers should reasonably expect that a dealership has properly inspected a vehicle and that it is safe and mechanically sound at the time of sale — especially when no issues are disclosed and the vehicle fails shortly afterward.
Due to the dealership’s refusal to assist, I have had to escalate the matter formally.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and financially stressful. I strongly encourage potential buyers to conduct very thorough due diligence and consider independent inspections
