Great experience!

Bought some garden furniture at The Hyde store and the staff couldn’t do enough to help me transport it to the checkout and my car. It was half-price as well, at the start of the summer weather. Couldn’t ask for more!

It isn’t what it once was

I’ve shopped at B&M for many years and it used to be one of my favourite places to visit. I would often spend hours browsing with friends because there was always something new, interesting, or unexpected to discover. It felt like a real day out rather than just a shopping trip.
Unfortunately, over the years I’ve noticed the stores seem to stock much of the same range season after season. The excitement of finding new products or unique bargains doesn’t feel quite the same anymore. The shelves often look very familiar from one visit to the next, and there isn’t as much that catches my eye or encourages me to explore the whole store.

B&M still offers good value, but I would love to see a wider variety of products and more frequent changes to the ranges. Bringing back that sense of discovery would make shopping there feel special again.

Lost receipt

I emailed the customer service team to help with a lost receipt. I received a response very quickly from the customer service team and they were able to resolve my issue so that I could return an item to store. The staff at B&M Heywood were very helpful with my return.

Outstanding staff member Reuben (garden department)

I regularly shop in B&M Bedford (Riverfield Drive) store, as I find it really good for plants/trees. What really stands out for me in particular is staff member Reuben who works in the garden department. He is super helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, always going above & beyond. When I recently brought a Trachycarpus tree, Reuben really came up with good ideas and thought outside the box with ideas to get it in the van (it was very large)!
I notice that all the customers warm to Reuben, he is just so personable & he is a great asset to B&M, I really want him to be recognised for the effort he puts in to give outstanding customer service. thankyou Reuben. I also emailed B&M directly to say this.
A great customer experience all round.

I find it beyond disgusting that this…

I find it beyond disgusting that this shop r perfectly aware of 10 year olds coming in to the shop and stealing alcohol and they do nothing no security no behind the counter just tiny bottles left out for kids to easily steal,yes stealing is wrong but B and M could help by putting it up high or behind a locked door anything to stop children being able to so easily steal it and possibly kill themselves

Shopping at Hessle b&m

Was shopping in b&m Hessle wanted some trailing lobelia the ones on display were very dry and wilting,
I asked. To see a member of staff, was attended. By a young lady called Katie she was very professional and after showing her the plants she offered me them at a reduced price.
I accepted ,thanked. Her for her offer, I. Shop at b&m quite a lot but will recommend the Hessle store to people I know.

Staff are rude and assault customers

Today I visited the Washington Galleries store. I was shopping in store with my children. This visit was actually part of my healing from cptsd and this was my first time visiting the galleries alone and shopping since 2021. I chose b&m to shop as I thought it would be the easiest with it being one of my favourite stores. Instead I have left feeling worse than when I went in. I was in the aisle with the home things like candles etc. I turned around and saw a staff trolley and there was a hand fan on top. I love those fans so picked it up and asked my kids if they could see it on shelf assuming it was a shop item. While we were looking a staff member came storming over and yelled "um can you give me my fan back" grabbed my hand snatching the fan injuring my thumb. She stormed off with her trolley thing with an absolute attitude. Not only should staff not speak to customers like that but to assault them too???? She could've politely said "excuse me but that's not actually for sale it belongs to me" I have never been treated so disgustingly by anyone in any shop. We went in looking for specific things for father's day and left without them because I was too shaken to continue looking around the shop. My kids were also scared by her behaviour causing my eldest to feel anxious even now when we are home. This is absolutely appalling behaviour from b&m staff.
Imagine living with cptsd for years, being terrified to leave the house because your cptsd has convinced you it's not safe to go anywhere. Needing medication to even pass the front door. Doing everything you can to try and heal so you can live a normal life, and on the first day that you push yourself to prove that it's safe some jumped up shop assistant proves you were right all along.

I bought 2 roses

I bought 2 roses, not in pots just bare root.1 only had 1 root but I potted it up as per instructions. It did not grow so after giving it a few weeks I wrote a complaint. The reply stated that B& M do not accept plants back as stated instore(I've not seen this notice). After I pointed out that the retailer not the grower is responsible for refunding /replacing a faulty/not fit for purpose item I was offered a voucher which I've accepted. The second rose has some shoots but not as much as it should have at this time of the year. In fairness the fault is with the grower & I will avoid plants grown by them in the future. Thanks to Lisa for handling my complaint .

Lisa on the phone was absolutely brilliant

Lisa on the phone helped us greatfully. We lost our receipt for a bbq we wanted to return (even after 30 days) and she managed to send it to us within 2 minutes. She even stayed on the phone to us to make sure we received it so we didnt have to wait in que to ring again. Couldn't have asked for more . You where great thankyou!

I got a PCN while parked at b&m because…

I got a PCN while parked at b&m because I was there to long it takes me longer to shop being disabled. I emailed b&m with my receipt and the PCN charge and a lovely lady Isabelle got it cancelled for me in less than 24 hours which was amazing. Customer service is brilliant and I think the whole of the UK know how great b&m shops are lol I spend a lot of time and money in them 🤦‍♀️ thank you b&m

Bought a tin of paint but didn’t notice it was for interior use . Hadn’t got the receipt so had to ring customer service and give them some information. They were very helpful,but best thing to do is always ask for the receipt

Copy receipt

I bought a hot-tub from b&m in Coleraine and lost my receipt and couldn't register my warranty.
B&M got me a copy receipt and were so helpful and easy to contact and very quick in their reply

Great Customer Service

I purchased an electrical item in July 2025, the product has stopped working (May 2026) but I didnt have my receipt anymore. I contacted B&M Customer Services and spoke to Sue who was very helpful and easy to understand. We were able to locate my original payment and she provided me with a copy of my receipt which I can now take back to the store and return or replace my item. Sue was happy to help and made the process very easy for me. 10/10 customer service provided and a very happy and grateful customer

Don't buy plants from B&M

On 1st May I bought two bare-rooted fruit trees from your Welshpool store ( 2 for £12). Both were planted immediately upon returning home. One tree started showing signs of growth fairly quickly. The second tree, a cherry did not, despite receiving regular watering and tending.
I returned the cherry tree to B&M Welshpool earlier today and upon finally speaking with the manager, was informed that they 'don't have a returns policy on plants'. It may be semantics, but you do have a returns policy and that policy is to not refund for plants that are deficient and do not grow!
He also advised me to contact the manufacturer (Sic), I think he means grower, and take the matter up with them. I explained that my purchase was from B&M and that I don't have any commercial relationship with the grower.
I was flexible with the manager and requested either a replacement, a credit note or a full refund, but he was not willing to assist me.
I've been shopping regularly in B&M Welshpool since we moved here around 10 months ago, mainly for DIY products, but we've now started work on our garden and I wanted to continue with my relationship by purchasing plants. However, due to the intransigence of the Welshpool staff; I have re-appraised that relationship.

Excellent experience

Emailed customer services, as I'd lost receipt for faulty goods purchased. Received prompt response. Supplied information that was required in order to obtain receipt. Received copy receipt in a matter of hours. Very prompt, efficient and helpful service.

Exchange

Bought a steam cleaner but it was a clothes steamer I should have bought, returned item to store for an exchange but as I didn't have a receipt I was refused, had proof of purchase on my bank statement but this wasn't proof enough. Finished with b and m. And I did email customer service who said returns policy is available in store and they could no longer assist us.
