I called up today to ask a few questions about my BTL mortgage with BM.
I had the good fortune to speak with a lovely gentleman called Craig he sounded so pleasant & had a happy to help you attitude right from the start of our conversation.
You could just tell that he enjoyed his job & was just great to deal with.
He answered all my questions with ease & as I’m sure by now you realise I put the phone down a very happy customer.
A rare quality in a customer service representative these days.

Bad customer service.
I did have appointments with my solicitor for my will the solicitor asked me how much mortgage balance total. I called the birmingham midshires the lady answered the phone, she was very rude. No customer knowledge. She asked security questions very aggressively, I asked her for her name she said Michelle or Wishelle I asked her to spell it for me she never replied, then she asked me for my name, surname and my address. I answered every single question kindly and I gave customer reference number on the paper I received from them, also my date of birth. She said I can't talk to you because you didn't pass the security check questions. I said please I live in Northamptonshire my solicitor is in London, I have an appointment right now. I am with her now could you please help me for mortgage balance, I live far away from my solicitor. She just said no call us tomorrow waisting my time I don't understand why she was very annoyed.

Birmingham Midshires don't seem to be under any supervision by the FCA, and have no concept of customer service.
Being a customer of more than 20+ years, and always paying on time. Today I received a letter say I owed £2.20 (yes, £2.20) with a range of threats regarding my credit score etc.
Spent almost 30 minutes (cost £70 plus at my charge rate) trying to speak with their laughingly called 'customer support' which was someone working from home over a poor phone line.
I believe some 'Charlie' runs BM under the Lloyds Bank umbrella...says it all.
It transpires that I was sent a letter in September regarding an increase in the monthly payment, which I didn't receive.
How many other letters do they say they have sent out and can't prove it? Or, they were not even sent, or lost in the post?
Surely there is a legal requirement to ensure such notifications are actually received, before they can impose a change in terms?
Raised a complaint, so we'll see what response I get from BM or then the Ombudsman.
What a shower. if they treat good customers like this, I'm tempted to pay them off, and avoid the hassle.
Horrendous thieves
Had a BM ISA. Had a letter saying they were closing them and customers had the choice of a transfer to Halifax or could close the account and have a cheque but had to request this in writing. This i did as required. Now i get an ISA closure letter from BM and a letter from Halifax with an account I cannot add to or withdraw from without the usual id hoop jumping we know so well!!! How can BM take my money and give it to another organisation WITHOUT PERMISSION? The reason I did not want Halifax is because there are no local branches! So as a pensioner in 70's I have to travel over 40 miles at my expense, park, find the branch to retrieve my own money Halifax have effectively stolen! Basically if someone (BM) takes your money without permission (stealing) and gives it to another without your permission this is receipt of stolen goods! Surely Halifax should of had sight of a permission from the owner of the funds before agreeing to take the money and hold it hostage! Halifax should have refused the transfer. BM say oops letter re cheques went out when it wasnt actually possible! out their hands deal with Halifax! Today I get a letter from BM saying sorry cheques not possible transfer to Halifax made and you will get a letter from them!! yes 2 days ago. How dare they! Complained and 'due to a lot of correspondence at this time it may take a while to get to me. Halifax say deal with BM. Complaint to Financial Ombudsman received a 'sometime' may be dealt with, maybe 7 working days for really vulnerable cases! If I stole someones money and gave it to my mattress you can bet I would get a knock on the door pretty smartish! One star too many.
I had been with BM for over 19 years
I had been with BM for over 19 years, and paid regularly and on time. I completed the sale of my property on the 8th of September, and thought everything was done by my solicitor. On the 15th of September i had a letter telling me i owed them £79.28 for four days daily interest. I said this is not my fault but yours. Anyway after a lot of arguing, they told me my Solicitor had asked for a redemption for my mortgage on the 4th of September so they wanted the interest from the 4th to the 8th. What also cheesed me off was they still took a direct debit on the 18th which was my direct debit day. I had to get my bank involved to get MY money back and still had to pay them interest. THE WORST MORTGAGE COMPANY I HAVE EVER USED. Please do yourself a favour and never get involved with these robbers. Disgusting and no compassion whatsoever. Pay me the money or we get serious with you......all of this after 19 years as a good customer.

Not Birmingham Midshires !! I reached out to them FIVE times for help , and I got NOTHING! NO HELP !
After the THIRD time of reaching out for help & getting NO HELP, I I therefor made a complaint . I had to then wait for over a month to hear back from the complaints department . ( it’s no wonder as the protocols they have it place for helping customers , do not work. are non existent )
I mentioned to them about the ‘Forbearance’ Rules which Martin Lewis on TV had mentioned , where Lenders should offer Tailored Support to their customers in crisis !!! But once again , it got ignored !
I must have spent over TEN HOURS on the phone asking for help in total & FIVE phone calls later , they can only offer me £100 cheque for their cowboy incompetence !! .
The people on the complaints department have ZERO EMPATHY & should come with a HEALTH WARNING!! I have been highly stressed over the past three months trying to ask for help over & over again . I’ve had trouble sleeping , been highly anxious , & after coming off the phone on 12th September I was physically sick from all the stress !
Today Mandy in Complaints was so unsympathetic & a little sarcastic which I thought was completely unprofessional . I’m telling her how ill BM have made me & she starts talking over me in a don’t care a less , patronising voice ! When I told her this . She replies ,’ Oh well do you want to make a complaint about me too !’ . & hangs up on me !

TOXIC organisation stay well away
This is by far the worst company to have a mortgage with, they are evil beyond belief and will cause you the maximum stress by not being helpful and not following the government charter which is in place to assist mortgage payers. All phone calls are from a script and they will drag every phone call and make it as long as possible and will still not provide you with help at the end of it. Do not use this company, you will regret it, they deserve to go bust and have maximum redundancies as they are not serving customers fairly instead they are making life a misery. They will make you ill. You have been warned.
Government mortgage charter
Contacted BM on numerous occasions regarding the recently implemented mortgage charter. No one at BM knows what they are doing. Instead of dragging their feet and sucking their thumbs get on with implementing the charter.
BM are all take and no give. Totally useless.

Absolute thiefs, no help at all during the cost of living. Increased my mortgage from 500 to 1,500 and no help at all. Been a customer with them since 2006 and all I get is sorry we can't help sell your property. What a incompetent and moronic advisor. Wow.....

Avoid at all costs. There aren't any words that truly capture the level of incompentence and callousness at BM. Go with any other lender.

Awful company. I would give zero stars if possible. Treating landlords with disdain. Currently paying 9.39% on a btl, and they can’t explain why. My other btl with them is 7.2%. Bad company, avoid like the plague.

The worst experience in dealing with a bank, customer service horrendous, get through to a call centre if you’re lucky then they can’t help you, passed from pillar to post, no resolution and making a complaint is pointless, no accountability for poor service.

Made a mistake and randomly stopped my Direct Debit after years - gave me a bad credit score - refused to correct. Had to set up mu DD again as if it was never there!
Every time I call customer service it takes hours. Today I couldn’t get through in 30 mins and then my call was dropped off hold.

Mortgage department.
My mortgage was coming to an end but I needed to sell my house as I had an awful tenant who failed to pay rent and damaged the property.
Birmingham midshires could not have been more supportive and understanding. Every customer service operative that I encountered went above and beyond to give me time, to be genuinely caring and allowed extra time until house sold. Can't praise the company policy enough for caring about their customer. I had never missed a payment of any issue so I think that helped but really overall pleased with them.

All they do is protect scumbag landlords I'm getting thrown out and they are taking over the house I've never been in debt always paid my rent and this company are refusing to give me any information in regards to them kicking me out on the streets! I have been with Birmingham Midshires Mortgages and the experience has been very very unpleasant.
I have been with Birmingham Modhsires for about ten years. Two buy to let mortgages.BM brand collasped and were taken over by Halifax and Lloyds, both bailed out by tax payer money. Last year was poor service, this year even worse. They changed account numbers and bank and the paymrnt didnt go through. They cant send emials or SMS jsut letters that take weeks to arrive. Paper and stamps and mail is not eco friendly I am onhold for at least 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Passed from people to post to speak to specialist.The lower fee didnt go through. They claimed it wasnt approved, When you do get through they put you on hold to read your notes for 5 - 10 minutes and most times they cut you off. I spoke to customer service that called me back after Four months and to give them all the details. They dont have all the information everytime as they dont take notes. They also have 4 different unconnected systems even though they took over or licensed the Lloyds bank it platfrom. The service is appaling. Im struggling to leave them or get a new rate. They all not engaged cannot disucss products or services as it has to go through your IFA. My two IFA couldnt get through and gave up after each waiting 1 hour 30 minutes on hold. I have gone to the Ombudsmen who are swamped with cases. Especially from BM. The amnount of costs and stress isterrible.

Only rating one star as zero stars isn’t an option. Their direct debit collection error has lead to my otherwise perfect credit record being tarnished. I’ve had the mortgage with them for 12 years and this was clearly a clerical error yet they refuse to correct it.

Shoddy subsidiary of a major bank. Probably full of the rejects working here as they lack common sense and logic. Now having to find a more reputable company to work with. Waste 6 months of my time.

Avoid like the plague. they know that Solex is on the stupid side of incompetent and will cost you money: literally cost you money as they trip and drag their way through the process as if it's the first time they have done it and they have to get home to watch a soap opera. BM use them and so BM should be avoided.
There is no way that they cannot see their reviews and choose to treat their borrowers with contempt.
Worst Customer Services Experience Of My Life!
You thought it would be simple enough to get a mortgage sorted. On this occasion my broker informed me I had to request the mortgage funds by phone and BM would then send me the money (strange process). I now have a completed transaction and no funds in my account. As I write this I am on my 4th long phone call without resolution to my problem. No one seems to know what is going on. BM you are an absolute disgrace!!
