You are relying on AI instead of actual researchers to verify you are providing people the correct information. You are quite literally lying to your customers with your famous family feature. You are telling customers they are related to famous people without actually providing accurate information. With a little HUMAN effort I have been able to prove I'm not related to quite a few people you have falsely claimed are a part of my family. You are taking people's money and lying to customers about our ancestors

While you have improve your system. There are serious flaws in your Tree checker Pro and Identifying ancestors in their True name and no means to contact you in a documented and follow-up way, to identify these flaw and get them corrected.
I started this journey in Jan 2025. I was surprised and impressed that as I entered more of my known family, that unknown extended members kept showing up. Relatives that had been lost to history were now known again. Some good soul had done the deep dive into past records to resurrect extended family going back to the 1500s! This is perfect for a history nerd and old soul like myself.
Also, I have been introduced to extended cousins that were previously unknown in both Europe and S. America.
My only complaint is how onerous it is to match my DNA results to my account.
Would you please stop with the 2 step verification nonsense?!?
I do not need this, it is such a time waster, no one cares about my DNA or family tree so just stop it.

I have been a member of Ancestry.ca for many years and have developed an extensive family tree. I most enjoy researching my French-Canadian line because there is so much information available. I can go back to the 1600s and find actual copies of birth marriage and death records that lead to the next generation. I find the zoom classes useful in learning new avenues and techniques. It is definitely worth the investment if you want to develop a good family tree with supportive documents. The DNA testing and traits is an fun way to learn about my origins and connect with matches for further information.
I discovered that one of my uncles died in WWI. My Dad never spoke of it. It was a moment of deep emotion. It is moving to see the signatures of loved family members on very old documents. I found family in England. Finally, researching is excellent stimulus for the brain. I have been a member of Ancestry for many years.
The online genealogy resources are invaluable for researching your family tree. Highly recommend you upgrade to a Pro Tools membership if you are a serious researcher as the extra things it provides are fantastic in helping sort out unexpected or unexplained DNA results. The DNA testing itself takes awhile to get the results, but as long as you are prepared that you may get a few surprises, is well worth seeing your matches and the relatives they connect to.
Working with the paper trail and DNA over several years, and with the very active and knowledgeable assistance of genealogist Susan Avery of Winston-Salem NC, we explored the "hunch" that the unknown first wife and the known last wife of John Davis d. 1776 of the Jersey Settlement, Davidson County (old Rowan) NC, were sisters.
This first necessitated tracing John Davis's ancestry back through the paper trail, and confirmed by DNA, to Davises in the region of Trenton NJ. This was confirmed by the "Big 700" Y-chromosome test at FTDNA.
Exact dates of the unknown first wife (later identified as Sarah or Sally Scudder) are still thin, but the DNA of as many of her descendants as we could access, overlapped with many trees where the only identifiable link was to descendants of one Richard Betts Scudder of Trenton NJ and his wife Hannah Reeder.
Similarly we sought DNA from the first marriage of John Davis's second wife Mary. Her first husband was one John Parke Jr d. 1759. (The genealogist I worked with, Susan Avery, is a descendant of this first marriage.) The same overlap with Scudder trees was found.
In the case of both Sarah and Mary's descendants there are DNA overlaps with the other ancestral families of Richard Betts Scudder and Hannah Reeder, e.g. Burroughs, Thorpe, Chamberlain, King.
There are different published accounts of the RBS-HR family that do not totally agree, but Mary b. 1698 and Sarah b. 1713 appear to be "our girls." In none of those accounts were they known to have been married and have had children, but see below.
Considering the paper trail in light of this identification, we noted the likely influence of the Great Awakening was what had divided Mary and Sarah from their main family. The Scudders of Trenton were articulate and devoted Presbyterians, descendants of the famous Presbyterian divine the Rev'd Henry Scudder of Westminster Confession fame. The Parkes and Davises became ardent Baptists (of various kinds) as a result of the Evangelical Revival.
We noted that the name Richard appears nowhere among neither Mary nor Sarah's descendants, which we feel is a telling absence, whereas their grandfather John Scudder's name does seem to be preserved in a number of senior "John S." Davis descendants.
In addition, the fractious politics of their home region (the duplicitous land dealings of one Daniel Coxe) that had deprived the Parkes of title to their NJ land (purchased from an agent but not confirmed by the English vendor), saw them flee to near Winchester, Frederick County VA, on the Great Wagon Road, and enabled us to identify one of the many John Davises resident there at the same time as my ancestor. In one court record, one of those John Davises agreed to guarantee the behaviour of one of widow Mary Parke's sons (George Parke) after his father had died. This clinched for us that the Davises had also come along the Great Wagon Road, and then continued on to Salisbury NC and the Jersey Settlement.
We are now amplifying these connections with associated clues. Sarah and Mary had a cousin named Matthias Scudder, who years after them moved to their new county (then Rowan, now Davidson NC), and whose daughter Elizabeth Ann (called Hannah) married David Davis, one of the sons of John Davis d.1776.
This amplificatory effort continues, but we are reasonably confident of the Scudder connection.
It helped me, a very long time ago, to start my family tree and explore my many different branches I knew nothing about and to communicate with cousins that I never knew existed. Some, later, to meet in person or online. How wonderful!
I was adopted as a baby. I did two different DNA tests in 2012 to learn more about my bioligical background. I met my Birth Father 2 months before he passed from Cancer as a result of a DNA test and connecting with his 1st Cousin.
Since then, I have been using Ancestry to map my biological family tree and discover more about my biological family heritage.
I design software for a living, so I also enjoy the user experience, linking to other sources and connections that I make through messaging. It is fun to meet new friends while researching my genetic history.
I have been a paid Ancestry subscriber for MANY years and get so much out of it. Between the vast amount of records available and the DNA test that I did many years ago, I have the tools I need to grow my family tree. Ancestry has consistently added features and tools that expand on the ways that I can analyze my family tree and add more information. If I was to list my top thing on my Ancestry "wish list" it would be to have access to a chromosome browser for my DNA results. As an advanced DNA user, this information would be vitally helpful in my research.

Ancestry used to be great, with access to so many records. Now the site is chock full of incorrect Family Tree data created by people who don't know what they are doing. Then ancestry passes this info on again, to all new researchers which then misleads even more people. Meanwhile Ancestry has disclaimers, stating these are just hints, not facts. But new researchers do not understand that. I spend most of my time writing to people, to try and guide them, but they probably think I am wrong, as the wrong info appears so many times on Ancestry.

Ancestry has been amazing at connecting me with relatives, living and dead, that I didn't know anything about. It's helped solve a mystery about my great grandmother thru DNA testing and I've heard from relatives all over the world.
Through doing my DNA and building a family tree, Ancestry.com has helped me discover and connect with my birth family on both sides. I have discovered a lot of family history and some live cousins and even two siblings. Sometimes the hints don't lead to real information/evidence.
The hints are helpful but one definitely needs to be careful before accepting them. When doing research one should always corroborate the hint bu finding the original source documents from other reputable sites. A single mistake with assuming a hint is valid can really send you down the wrong path. With all of that said, Ancestry's ability to search across various sources is an extremely powerful feature.
I hate the new changes you have made; I don't want to be presented with a whole bunch of useless hints. I wish you would remove Geneanet as there are so many mistakes in there. PLZ stop giving hints I already have on my tree. I am also disappointed in the fact that my tree being private, you share photos I placed on my ancestors, these should be mine and not shared. As for Thrulines it is completely useless and it matches inappropriate information together, and also match by name when we know many people have the same name???

I love the Ancestry app. I figured out the old family "rumour " using the census records and other user trees . Made some family members really happy. However, I do think the memberships are expensive.
I found the DNA shared matches a great help. Before this was available, I was able to match dna results to a group who I then researched to a common surname. Contacting some of these dna matches helped us solve an affair back to a child born in 1857. Then the option to purchase Pro tools added more definitive results. My only complaint would be that I feel after being a member for a great many years, it would be nice to not have to pay an additional monthly fee for this feature.
Last December, got a hit that had an older brother from both parents so now we are seven biological siblings. No one could verify. One sibling did go and meet him and wow, cannot deny that he is out brother, looks manner, voice. Thank you ancentry for giving us a great find from what the past hid.
I've used Ancestry for many years and the hints are excellent, as are the mechanisms for building a family tree.
I've always hoped for more close family connections and last year, I found that I have a half sister, courtesy of my father's stint in England during WWII. It was a wonderful discovery and we correspond on a regular basis.
