We strongly advise not booking with this company. We had already fully paid for our rental car through Sunny Cars, including all fees for our trip. However, upon arrival, we were suddenly told we had to pay an additional €1200 because we were doing a one-way trip from Mexico City to Cancún. These costs were already included in our original booking.
To make matters worse, we arrived late at the airport and, as two young women in a large unfamiliar city, this situation felt especially unsafe and uncomfortable. You’re put in a very vulnerable position, with little choice but to either pay or figure something else out at a late hour.
It felt like a complete scam. After a long journey, you’re pressured into paying extra charges that you’ve already covered. They clearly take advantage of the situation.
Our advice: do not book with this company. These kinds of practices are unacceptable and can seriously ruin the start of your trip.

Really bad service in Puerto del Carmen. Do not go here!! I booked a car at 10am and when I arrived, there were no cars. In a higher category yes, but they did not provide the service. Only when I psid €15 a day more. I did the booking through Sunny Cars.

Reservation via budgetcars.com has been fully respected. Of course they suggest you an High level of protection, that's right, you have to choose what fits.

They accepts you CDW from you credit card, but ask you to purchase a liability insurance that is already included in your reservation.
Do not rent from them.

Horrible experience with Alamo Cancun. They wanted to charge a $3,500 USD hold for an $80 car rental, just because I didn’t accept their most expensive insurance. Ridiculous.
Worse: they claimed to have processed the partial refund, but nothing ever reached my account. After a lot of back-and-forth, they still failed to provide any traceable proof for my bank, and stopped responding altogether.
Avoid them at all costs.

This company in Mexico is more similar to a crime bandits than a rental car. You reserve our car on line but at the moment of deliver they asked me as deposit the total price of the car 13.000 usd
This happened in Veracruz (MX). Of course I've canceled and they never refound the money I payed for it. Never use this fake company

Pésimo servicio.Habiamos reservado un coche mediano y nos daban uno pequeño, tuvimos que mostrar la reserva y lo cambiaron. Teníamos reservado un automático y nos daban un manual, el cambio fue lentisimo total más de una hora para los tramites de recogida, algo que normalmente no lleva más de 10 minutos. El coche que nos dieron tenía los neumáticos desgastados sin apenas dibujo. Horrible y denunciable, no se puede jugar con la vida de las personas
Problem with the car of the 1st day
On the first day of the rental, the car had a problem and it had to be replaced. After spending 5 hours to be resolved and one lost day of vacation time, I was informed that Alamo was not responsible for the problems with their cars and, as a consequence, that one day could no be reimbursed. The second car that I got was almost new but, on the delivery date, it was checked for the most ridiculous damages (luckily, the car was delivered in the exact condition). As a suggestion, always take photos and make videos on pickup and always try to get a recent car (if possible). I will never use this rent a car again.

Haciéndose responsables de su mala administración y realizar ustedes la devolución del dinero de manera inmediata así como nosotros hacemos los pagos. Y contratando gente eficaz y no idiotas que ponen la cara de fastidio porque todos llegan a quejarse.

Excelente servicio, totalmente claro desde la reservación vía WhatsApp en Alamo Mérida a través del Sr. Rodrigo Cordero. El proceso fue rápido y sencillo. (Toda la información se encuentra en su plataforma al reservar en línea por lo que sorpresas no existen. Leí opiniones negativas y la verdad no es así. Solo debes leer para que al llegar a sitio no pienses que tienes que erogar más dinero que el checado en su plataforma a la hora de reservar) Obtuvimos la unidad que solicitamos en reservación a través de WhatsApp y al llegar a Mérida solo fue la firma del contrato y fue todo!!! Gracias por su profesionalismo a todo el personal de Alamo desde el transporte del aeropuerto a sus oficinas y todo su amable personal!!! Ampliamente recomendable

Eso de reservar pagando con tarjeta no es conveniente en alamo yo el 15 de noviembre tenis auto reservado y al llegar a mostrador me salieron con que no había auto disponible eran 8 de la noche de plano que falta de responsabilidad tuve que rentar en la unico lugar disponible para rentar asiendo un desembolso de pago de renta de auto y lo que bloquean de tarjeta de crédito todavía tuve q enviar correo.a alamo.mx para reembolso por no tener auto aver cuanto dura y si lo reembolso para mi mala experiencia pagar por adelantado mejor pagar en oficina esto fue aeropuerto de ciudad obregon

Por favor no renten coche con Alamo Aeropuerto Ciudad de Mexico. Del 21 de julio al 12 de agosto 2024, rentamos 2 coches lo hicimos desde Holanda, via Sunny Cars que es una empresa muy correcta e integra con los clientes, pero Alamo aun que habíamos entregado los 2 coches con el tanque de gasolina lleno, nos cargó con la tarjeta de crédito una cantidad como si ellos los hubieran llenado, eso es un robo!! Y se aprovechan de los turistas! Por favor siempre tomen fotos de que el tanque esta lleno y guarden la nota de la gasolinera! Hay muchas mas compañias con ética!
VORSICHT! 1300€ Kaution wurden nicht zurückerstattet!
Ich habe über eine Vermittlungsagentur einen Mietwagen bei Alamo/Enterprise Tallinn in der Zeit 19.06.-24.06. gemietet und es wurde eine Kaution von 1.300,00 Euro über meine Debit Mastercard geblockt (gg. Extragebühr für die Debit Karte). Bis heute (06.07.2024) wurde die Kaution nicht zurückgezahlt.
Es gab am 20.06. ein Problem mit dem linken vorderen Reifen, in den sich ein Nagel/Schraube gebohrt hatte. Bin sofort zum Alamo/Enterprise-Büro am Flughafen Tallinn gefahren und ich sollte selbst zu einer Werkstatt fahren, die den Schaden sofort behoben hat. Der Alamo/Enterprise-Mitarbeiter teilte mir mit, dass die Kosten von meiner Kaution abgezogen werden. Bis heute, 06.07.24 habe ich weder eine Rechnung der Reparatur erhalten, noch wurde mir die Kaution zurückerstattet.
Mehrfache Anfragen per Mail blieben unbeantwortet. Eine Antwort von der Vermittlungsagentur steht noch aus. Ich befürchte, dass Alamo mittlerweile betrügerisch unterwegs ist und meine Kaution einbehält. Ich werde alles versuchen, meine Kaution minus der Schadenzahlung (max. 200,00 EUR) einzufordern. Es ist übel, dass eine solche international agierende Autovermietung dieses wunderbare Land mit ihren scheinbar betrügerischen Maschen schlecht macht und es scheint so, dass ich abgezockt wurde. Ich hoffe nicht, dass ich auf den eigentlich nur geblockten und dann von Alamo einbehaltenen 1.300,00 EUR sitzen bleibe. Ich werde in der kommenden Woche Strafanzeige gegen Alamo/Enterprise stellen!

I had a serious accident in Mexico which seriously damaged the car and I didn't have a scratch but afterwards I went through hell. Mexicans took me out of the car where I was stuck upside down hanging from my belt which saved my life and I survived thanks to my belt. They dropped me off at the entrance to the national park and called Alamo. I was in shock and wanted to get to my hotel. So I requested a new vehicle or a transfer to my hotel and Alamo refused until I signed a document in Spanish and I asked for the possibility of translating this document into my language. Negative response and I refused to sign because it was obvious that this document was not beneficial for me if it was so opaque and certainly good business for Alamo. So I was stuck at the entrance to the park for around 3 hours without means of transport. Then the local police came and took me in and sequestered me in the courtyard of the police station. I was surrounded by 5 impressive police officers who asked me to sign the Alamo document. I did not enter their offices so it was not an official approach, I was not questioned because I had not broken any laws and the police were in contact with Alamo. There was no expert, and I was not given any documents. For hours, they insisted that I sign, telling me that I would have no water or food and that I would sleep in the courtyard. I always refused but I was really afraid even if I didn't show it. I was exhausted and I had to get out of this terrible situation and night was falling and I couldn't stay there because I was a woman surrounded by police officers. I asked the police if I had broken Mexican law and it was negative. I told them I was going out, got up and headed towards the exit. I thought they might have stop me or shot me in the back. I thought the exit door was closed. But it wasn't locked, and I went out into the street. I took the first taxi, for an exorbitant price, and I lay down so they wouldn't see me. I had paid a guarantee of 900 USD on the first day, usual and it was normal that they kept the money following the accident. But on the day of the accident, they charged 1000 USD more in my absence without me entering my code because I never visited this agency again. I requested invoices that I did not receive and I ended up having a global invoice with 4 lines without details. There were extra days that I didn't get since I paid for 4 days, used 2 days and then took my flight to Europe. Then fines, I was not arrested, I had behaved normally and I doubt that these fines are real especially since the rule is that we receive copies of the official documents that I would have paid and nothing was not sent despite my requests then ¾ of the amount was in a line without the slightest detail. This is how Alamo Cancun supplements its income: extortion of signatures under threat (I never found out what was on the paper in Spanish but probably something about insurance so that I end up paying the full amount for the car??And this car had been in an accident, I was a little hesitant about taking the car: it had signs of a problem but the car had arrived late and I had to reach my destination, it was unstable on the road and the bonus : the airbag had not been replaced and I was traveling without an airbag without knowing it and it did not work despite the sudden fall of the vehicle. I am appalled by this experience and the conduct of the Alamo, and I attest on my honor that these facts are unfortunately the truth. I miraculously survived this lethal car and my pride is in not having given in to their blackmail but at what cost because I am traumatized by this experience that I constantly relive. How many people would have signed this paper for convenience without understanding their commitment and its consequences?? And you ? I should point out that I am not claiming that all Alamo agencies are dishonest: but I had already had 2 other scam problems with Alamo agencies (1 in Mexico and 1 in Europe) but not at this level of seriousness but that won't happen again because I would avoid Alamo for safety. The Alamo management must clean up its teams. In the meantime, have a good trip on the Alamo cars! Also check internet as there is more scams reported with Alamo.
Alamo Scam - Avoid
I made a booking several months in advance and paid a deposit. On arrival at the Alamo station Tulum, I was advised immediately on arrival that the vehicle I had chosen wasn’t available. I enquired when it would likely be available to be advised that it wouldn’t be available and the only vehicle available was a compact model and the daily rate would be the published rate which was 3x higher than my pre booked rate for an SUV vehicle. I could not reach @discovercars and I have since made a complaint on line to be told I need to send a copy of my boarding pass and proof that I tried to call them - despite it being impossible to find an emergency contact number on their website. My wife and two young children had no choice but to leave Alamo and walk around downtown Tulum in the heat to find an other vehicle. We eventually found a car with Europe car which was not the vehicle of our choosing and considerably more expensive than our booking with Discovercars.com
Alamo Tulum is clearly just a scam and Discovercars.com is just as complicit. If you want a safe and hassle free booking experience go direct to a reputable firm like, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz or Avis.
