Avoid

The capsule hotel is nice enough if showing signs of wear an tear, (e.g. many cubicles no longer lock) but the customer service is terrible. Fist, despite the fact you can register and log in to their portal, you cannot see any bookings. The only wauy to access a booking is through the booking email you received. If you don't have this then you need to talk to customer services, Good luck with that. I recently had to cancel a booking, and it took 3 hours to get a response through WhatsApp, and even longer through email. The wrong booking was cancelled and it took longer to get the whole mess sorted out. They have also charged me for a second booking, which I'm completely unaware of. I would recommend avoiding this hotel, for the sake of your sanity.

Don’t go

Totally bad experience!! Charges £15 to deposit a bag. Nowhere and no hangers to hang things. No table. No chair. Not even a paper cup to drink from. Water gets cut off from time to time - not even dare to take a shower. Lighting inadequate for make up. Will NOT stay there again.

Everything was wrong

I never write reviews, but i just had to this time. Everything was wrong. There is no staff to check you in, just a screen, which is fine but quite annyoing when you have questions. Information to note: we had no cellular data it the building, it stopped working when we went in and only the hotels internet (unsecured) was available, they also charge £15 per bag for luggage storage, literally crazy, we used bounce to store our luggage just a few minutes away from the hotel for way cheaper. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE ROOMS: there were no chairs (only a little space behind the bed where you can sit…quite uncomfortably), no nightstand, no desk, the floor is stone and cold (no heating) almost no space for your own things in the bathroom, no hairdryer or toilet brush, and the sinks are permanently dirty, also no shelf in the shower (fine enough). There is a bed, a sink, and a shower. Thats it. If you want to eat, it will be on the floor or in the bed. Our first room had a dirty toilet seat and dusty floor. It also had frosted glass in front of the whole bathroom so the person in the other room could see and hear everything. We asked a lady in the lobby to clean our room again, and sent a message on whatsapp as we were told we could do, but it was not cleaned when we came back hours later. At that point we were tired and just wanted to sleep so we asked for another room. The room was fine, it had a different layout, so only half of the bathroom was exposed… yay. In this room there was no space behind the bed, nowhere to sit. There were three outlets… only ONE worked. It was above your head in the bed and i think my phone fell on my face 5 times when i was sleeping, the space is tiny. Anything you want to charge either needs to fit in the space or lay in the bed. We also saw the guy working in the cafe downstairs got to the toilet and only rinse his hands in water for about a second after, we didnt eat there. Only positive thing was the location, very central and easy to get places.

Hotel minimalista

Hotel minimalista, sencillo y cómodo. Con excelentes los chicos que están en recepción para ayudarte en lo que necesites. Sobre todo la atención de Shermin, amable, paciente y siempre estaba para ayudarnos

Taken money despite free cancellation

Unfortunately I made the grave mistake of booking through Hotels.com with the free cancellation. I booked 2 rooms with one booking confirmation (one booking number, one payment total etc). I called Zedwell to cancel my booking and they assured me it was cancelled, however I was charged for one room because they told me that it was a separate booking (which it wasn't). They are refusing to refund me and have taken £109 for their (and Hotels.com) mistake. I'm so unhappy about this - especially as I was cancelling because I'd booked the wrong date and actually stayed there a week before. Really rubbish experience. Don't book them through Hotels.com

Repulsive stench

I live above this complex & pass it daily - the repulsive stench that gushes out when the doors are opened is utterly disgusting: stale & musty. I have no idea how anyone can fall asleep inside when the smell from just passing outside is unbearable. No windows or fresh air flow.

They have no empathy

So i cant go on this trip because other wise i miss the funeral of my grandmother. I booked this true booking.com. Booking.com has helped me so so good. They want to give me my money back but the hotel zedwell wouldn't. They didn't even think with me, they were so ruth

Avoid at all cost!!! …

If I could give Zedwell Hotels a minus score I would. We stayed in the Zedwell Picadilly. When we got to our room the bathroom had not been cleaned. The shower screen had hand prints and body fluid on it. The sink and toilet were filthy. We went straight down to reception and they said that they would clean it straight away. We went out for a meal and when we got back the room had not been touched. We took photographs of the room and went back to reception. A manager said that he would send up a cleaner. We waited for an hour in the lobby and then returned to our room. It had not been cleaned. We decided to go to bed and leave early in the morning. Before we left we spoke to another member of staff who said that as an apology we could have a late check out time. We asked for details so that we could send an email. We emailed several times to be offered a small discount if we booked with them again. Then we heard nothing. The Zedwell completely spoiled our weekend away. I would never stay in one of their hotels again. AVOID at all cost.

Unhygienisch und arrogant

Die Zimmer haben wie angekündigt keine Fenster. Leider sind sie aber auch nicht mit einer dazu passenden Lüftung ausgestattet. Die Lüftung ist vor allem nachts sehr laut und bringt kaum etwas. Die Luft ist immer sehr stickig und gerade nach dem Duschen extrem feucht. Darüber hinaus ist die Dusche relativ unglücklich konstruiert, sodass nach dem Duschen das halbe Zimmer unter Wasser steht. Unsere Dusche hat vermutlich aufgrund der schlechten Lüftung auch bereits in den Fugen geschimmelt, was sehr unangenehm gerochen hat. Die Matratze war staubig, voller fremder Haare und hatte sogar einen Blutfleck. Es gibt keine Klobürste und auch keine Steckdose im Badezimmer. Falls man einen Föhn benötigt und keinen dabei hat, gibt es nur einen Beauty Room, der allen zur Verfügung steht und bei uns meistens besetzt war. Personaltechnisch sieht man dort kaum jemanden, die Security ist unfreundlich und nicht hilfsbereit. Im Foyer hat man häufig Diskussionen mit den anderen Gästen und dem personal mitbekommen. Darüber hinaus war eine Steckdose kaputt und die Steckdosen sind sehr unglücklich am Kopfteil des Bettes platziert, sodass man ständig ein Kabel im Nacken hat. Noch dazu gleicht das Kissen einem Blatt Papier.....
Die Lobby und die Lage sind schön, der Preis in Anbetracht des Komforts jedoch eine Frechheit. Auf keinen Fall wieder.

Für die Aufbewahrung nach Check Out zahlt man 15 Pfund pro Tasche - wir haben uns online eine andere Alternative in einem PremierInn über stasher gesucht und nur die Hälfte bezahlt. Sehr ungepflegt und einfach nur eine Frechheit dieser ganze Laden.

Bed Bugs, Broken Promises, and a Partial Refund Scam

This was, without exaggeration, the worst hotel stay I have ever had.

The room itself was deeply uncomfortable. As “advertised,” it consisted of nothing but a bed, with the toilet openly integrated into the same space. In reality, this felt far more unsettling than minimalist — there was no privacy, no separation, and no sense of basic comfort you would expect from a hotel.

However, the real issue became apparent on the very first night. I woke up to discover bed bugs in the room. TONS! At that point, the stay was immediately over. no reasonable person could continue sleeping there. The experience was disgusting and distressing.

I reported this to reception straight away. I was explicitly promised a full refund due to the severity of the situation.

Two months later, after waiting and chasing, I received only a partial refund — one fifth of what I paid. The rest of the money has simply vanished, despite clear assurances it would be returned. There was no meaningful follow-up, no accountability, and no attempt to make this right. The owner of the hotel as shown in the photos recognises their wrong doings yet refuses to help me get the refund that was promised.

Between the unhygienic conditions, the lack of transparency, and the failure to honour their own promises, I am left out of pocket and extremely disappointed. I would strongly advise anyone to stay elsewhere.

1/5 stars — and that is generous.

Overall I think you get what you pay…

Overall I think you get what you pay for. London is expensive, and the female-only capsule on the floor we used — at roughly £40 — felt reasonably priced given the location. While I find it unfortunate that women often have to pay more to feel safe, that’s a broader issue beyond this stay.

The capsule itself is comfortable for someone of average height. It includes coat hooks, three charging options, a dimmable light, an internal thumb-turn lock, and ventilation controls. A towel is provided for the shower facilities, and shower gel is supplied. There is also on-site luggage storage available for an additional cost.

Terrible experience

I was very disappointed with my most recent (3 night) stay. After my first night, my capsule was cleaned in error whilst I was out, and it seems the property I left in my cabin during the day (including toiletries, food, and pyjamas) were disposed of. This made my final two nights very uncomfortable, as well as a lot of wasted time trying to resolve. The property also appears to have no cold water available - the cold water taps in the bathroom only seemed to produce hot water (and when I overheard another customer complaining at the front desk, the only solution offered was to buy cold water externally if needed). Again, this made for an uncomfortable stay (especially when trying to brush your teeth or fill a water bottle during the night). No resolution has been offered by the property.

7 of us went to London for one night to see magic Mike live, we stayed at the zedwell hotel, not the pods! Stunning, clean, spacious enough for 7 women and their luggage, bathroom clean and efficient! Beds comfortable etc. Absolutely no complaints, other than they would have used a wide lense so the room in pictures of n site do look bigger! But because you are only sleeping there, it is more than enough for your needs. Definitely go back without any hesitation 🫶😁

Awful experience

The pictures on bookings.com weren’t what we received and were quite deceiving. The showered flooded the room. The room was incredible noisy from overhead trains. We had to check out before even staying the night due to a family emergency. I was quite visibly upset and the team at the hotel were not accommodating and did not offer further support when we queried about cancelling. There was a general lack of care and unfriendliness towards us a guest. We didn’t stay in the room for the night we booked due to an unforeseen circumstance that meant i needed to travel home immediately. The £15 charge to hold bags was mind blowing considering the price of the rooms or the extra £40 to check in early. While i appreciate this is a business, i did not feel welcomed, appreciated or cared for in the short awful experience at this hotel. Unfortunately, i don’t think myself or my partner will be returning to the hotel - we’ve had better zen experience in a travel ledge.

Surprisingly awesome!

Zedwell review

OMG soooo much better than hostels! You get a super clean and private bed space that has a fan, light, mirror, plugs, a real mattress that’s really comfortable, a fluffy pillow, a comfortable and clean duvet and a locking door. The only areas shared are the showers, toilets, and hand washing sinks, which are all super clean. Thank you cleaning staff for a fabulously clean shared space! If you only have a smaller suitcase it could be laid flat or on its side in your capsule. What a relaxing experience!

One tip: the capsule hotel is diff than the main hotel. The capsule hotel is directly across from the Lindt chocolate store, caddy corner from McDonald’s and directly across from the cinema NOT adjacent to the cinema (that’s the main hotel).

I’d heard about capsule hotels

I’d heard about capsule hotels, so I thought I’d try one when I was asked to cover London’s Notting Hill Carnival. When I arrived at Zedwell’s, I was impressed with the beautiful and massive reception area, only to be told, "Sorry, Zedwell’s Capsule Hotel is down the road." It was hard to find due to scaffolding around a dismal Zedwell-signed door, which led to a dismal-looking receptionist area. After providing my booking info and ID, I was given a keycard to a 2nd-floor capsule. I spent about 3 minutes trying to open it only to be told by a member of staff that someone was in it; reception had made a mistake, so they’d change it to an actual empty capsule. The bedding had been changed, but it was dusty. I asked for an iron so I could get changed before heading out. I was shocked when I was then told they didn’t have an iron. The first impression up to this point left me regretting this booking decision, as I expected better. Especially looking at people’s luggage and shoes scattered outside of these padlocked capsules. It was truly an experience, unfortunately not what I'd hoped. After speaking to members of staff about my first encounter, I hope Zedwell makes the assured improvements.

Terrible experience in Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road

My recent stay at a hotel (Zedwell Underground Tottenham Court Road) left me feeling extremely dissatisfied. While the first night (August 11) was uneventful, the second night (August 12) turned into a nightmare. At around 11:30 PM, I discovered there was no water supply. Exhausted from a long day of travel, I assumed it was a temporary issue and decided not to report it, especially since I was checking out the next morning. However, at 1:30 AM, the electricity went out! Being in an underground hotel with no windows, I felt trapped and immediately rushed to the reception for help. Although the staff member was somewhat helpful, he needed to contact the manager, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. He offered no greeting or apology and wouldn't even make eye contact with me. When I inquired about my room card, he was dismissive and unwilling to explain. At 1:45 AM, I found myself needing to change rooms with my son and elderly mother in tow. This experience has left me questioning the quality of the hotel and the overall lack of customer service.

Location but bedbugs

Location, location, location. That's the reason to book a room at the Zedwell Piccadilly. The rooms themselves are spartan--a mattress on a low wooden platform, a frosted sliding glass door separating the sleeping area from the bathroom, and hard tile floors. There are no phones, TVs, or windows. It was fine as a solo. I wouldn't want to share a room with anyone, even my husband.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. I had read some previous reviews that mentioned charging for early check-in. I was willing to wait until 3, but the front desk clerk checked me in early without a charge. Some reviews also mentioned bedbugs. One of the first things I did was check the mattress carefully, peeling back the sheets and mattress pads. I did not find anything at first. But it did show that they could do a better job at cleaning the rooms. There's a particular nook about an inch wide where the bed's platform meets the wall that could use attention. The area around the buttons on the mattress and underneath the mattress also needed cleaning. One of my pet peeves is long stray hairs that didn't come from my head.

Unfortunately, I did find a bedbug when returning to the room after my afternoon of touring part of London. When I showed it to the front desk clerk, he claimed "It's just a fly." But he moved me to another room. The second one was down a maze, including having to go down stairs since the elevator did not service that portion of the hotel. It was even smaller than the first room. I found a cigarette butt under the mattress when checking it out and more stray hairs under there as well. When I showed him a photo, he agreed to move me to a third room. It was in a better location and was larger but still sparse.

The USB ports were great so that I could charge my cellphone. The rainfall shower felt great. The lack of a door or curtain between the shower and the rest of the bathroom meant that water was not contained to just the shower area. The hotel provides body wash and shampoo in the shower and liquid soap for the sink. I brought my own bar of soap and conditioner.

Housekeeping during my stay consisted of replacing the used towels and emptying the trash. It did not include making the bed or other cleaning that I could detect.

I wrote most of this review on TripAdvisor before discovering that bedbugs had traveled back home with me. I never heard back from the hotel when I contacted it. I finally got Priceline to refund 20%, which covered the costs of buying bedbug-proof covers for my mattress and box springs and spray to kill them. Fortunately, my remediation seems to have worked, and I have not had to pay more for a professional exterminator.
