I have really enjoyed playing netball…

I have really enjoyed playing netball with a great bunch of ladies. Great fun and always having a laugh, making exercising more enjoyable.
Any queries I had I was able to contact a lovely lady in the office called Hannah, who was always willing to help and offer advice.
Would definitely recommend!

Youplay Netball is a fun, friendly and welcoming league!

Each week my team and I look forward to playing our netball match in a league that is fun, friendly and welcoming! Some of my team mates would say our time on the netball court is the highlight of their week. Youplay Netball has given me the opportunity to get back to netball, to build my confidence and make new friends. The sign up and weekly payment are easy and the staff are helpful and informative too.

Beware

Depending on which manager you have looking after your league makes a massive difference on your experience.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience.

We won the league and had to wait weeks to get our medals. We would turn up to games and the sports hall wasn’t booked. No rules were enforced (all players aware of rules as these were part of the sign up process) and this made it unfair during games.

Some ladies were nasty and deliberately caused trouble amongst teams - they were allowed to stay.

Teams struggled for players yet no active recruitment was done from the league which meant teams were having to pay extra for non existent players.

We left in the end and went to a more professionally run league.
If you are considering joining - please think again and take note of the number of negative reviews v positive on here 🤷‍♀️

(Also you are not covered by insurance if you were to get injured playing)

Great Organisation

I wanted to get back into Netball after having children and You Play Netball made it super simple.
The umpires and staff are friendly and organised plus its also good value for money.

I was looking for something fun and sociable, that would also help improve my fitness which didnt involve the gym!

I would highly recommended joining to others.

Its my bit of “ME” time each week

Its my bit of “ME” time each week, I’ve made some new friends and its definitely also helping me to get fit! The whole process was easy and what I liked most is it felt very personal and that your not just a number.

When I signed up I was spoken to on the phone rather than everything being on email, I really liked this as i could ask questions and they took the time to answer them and also reassure me as I was definitely nervous after not playing for so long and no longer being a spring chicken!

I was put with similar ladies into a team, which was great for me and they were all really lovely, we have a whats app group which makes it easy to communicate with each other and because the office set it up for you there was no awkwardness before the first night.

The umpires are great because they really helped me learn more about the game after not playing for 30+ years, they give you pointers during the game reach really helps you get better.

I don’t want to talk negatively about other people but after I think it was our second week there was a player from another team who just wasn’t very nice to other players and to the umpires, almost disruptive and was highly competitive probably because she was actually just very very good, it just put me off a little to be honest after the high of the first week, I joined to make friends and improve my fitness as I dint want to join a gym in my 50s. However someone in my team spoke to them in the office and explained the situation and they said they would look into it, I was then pleased to see the next week this player was no longer there.

I couldn’t recommend this enough and my friend has since signed up too. I genuinely look forward to playing each Sunday night. I’ve made new friends, my fitness is better and it really is a fun, friendly and welcoming environment.

Horrific, rude, aggressive, badly organised. AVOID

Honest if I could give this 1 star I would.
Saw a post on facebook for the Didcot area and thought it sounded great. Signed up and had a call from Sunny, thought it was a bit odd calling in the middle of the work day ut he went through it all and that was fine - £6 a week, super flexible etc.

Was put into a random whatsapp chat which was my 'team', we were getting next to correspondence from Sunny to any questions and some of his responses were quite arupt and aggressive including one member asking about their friend signing up and him complaining they hadn't answered his phone calls so they'd deleted their info.
We had 9 people in the group and so week 1 we didn't have enough players and so nobody had paid into the kitty (which actually is £6.50 per person due to charges), we were getting no response at all from Sunny in the chat and so several of us called up the office and were told it would definitely still go ahead and they'd get people to sub in. So we paid up whoever was going and played.

The next week I'd paid into the kitty but was unwell so couldn't attend so once again they didn't have a full team and had to have people sub in.

Sunny did not respond to any of the messages in the group chat and was aggressive in his responses saying how many thousands of groups they have and to call the office instead (but only once when I rang was he actually in) nobody else in the office will speak to you.

After the first two weeks, a member of your team is expected to take over the entire admin and finances for the group, they are expected to collect money from every player, chase that up, check whos' playing and pay it in and you have to find your own sus. After week 2 if you do not have a full team playing (£42) then you have to ask the subs to pay which isn't reasonable or pay extra per person.

They don't seem to have any idea how to run the thing. I explained to Sunny that the business model does not work, that it's a huge amount of admin they're expecting someone to volunteer for whilst the company just takes the cash and does nothing else. That if they expect everyone to pay whether there or not they need to implement a termly payment or a subscription ecause giving people the option at the start means of course nobody is going to pay if they aren't there.

Sunny was aggressive on the phone, he was accusing me of twisting his words (I hadn't and I had explained several times the whole reason I had asked for replies in the chat and not a phone call was to avoid confusion and moscommunications and so we'd all have it in writing to refer to) he blamed the team saying we 'weren't behaving like a team' (most of us hadn't met, some of us once, twice at most) that it was an US problem, that everyone else is super happy (I told him to refer to the trustpilot reviews and he denied their existance and said they weren't on trustpilot....)

After he had aggressively yelled at me about how it was our teams fault and we should have asked questions when there (despite him not being there to know), how it works for hundreds of other teams and how I shouldn't be telling him how to run his business. 15 mins into this in the middle of the work day I was ored of being talked to like crap over something that was supposed to be a fun hobbby and way to make friends.

Just avoid. they want to take your money and then leave you to do ALL of the admin and leg work and do nothing further. Sunny specifically was rude and aggressive and cannot handle questioning of any kind.

Best to avoid joining

Really disorganised company, if Sports were a muted version of Fyre Festival, this would be it. Was initially excited to join but was a bit surprised that you’re just arbitrarily shoved into a random team seemingly based on when you signed up and absolutely nothing else. I was pleased to get onto a court to play a game but also surprised that there was no warm up or training offered or suggested, just half an hour of bad netball because the umpires are effectively having to teach the game during the game, which means all games also overrun. The whole business model seems to be: sign people up, take money, abandon. I am going to be looking into reporting them for H&S issues.

Redditch Thursday League

Redditch Thursday League, Saint Augustines.
They promote Netball here is “Fun, Friendly & Social”
Well it certainly isn’t!
I joined a team with a lovely group of girls, I went for the first time all excited and confident. As soon as I walked in I could tell something wasn’t quite right with one of the umpires towards my team, her attitude was not the same with us like it was with the other teams, I thought ok must be a one off and left it at that, played our match and went home.

The weeks to follow were horrendous, all the other teams switched players to make the best team possible, we were the only team that didn’t do this which was fine for us as we began to gel. The other teams didn’t like this and this is when it started to get physically and verbally nasty on the court, we had an issue with every team we played. The umpires were not interested so we took it up with the league and started communicating with Nathan, well what a waste of time this was. He has now kicked my team out of the league without good reason , and I cannot play on a Tuesday anymore.
So if anyone is thinking of joining this Redditch league then just be careful as it’s very cliquey. It’s certainly knocked my confidence and this is not good for my mental health.

Had the misfortune of playing in the Redditch ‘friendly’ league and Felt like I’d stepped back onto the playground with the school bullies & b*tc**s. Our team joined the league a few weeks later and were instant outcasts as we weren’t in the ‘clique’. Week in week out our team we’re subject to abuse on and off the court. The umpires allowed and encouraged the nasty behaviour as they were friends with the girls doing it. They made it clear from the get go they didn’t like us either. Raised all issues to the Nathan who did absolutely nothing to help us as a team, had no regard for us as people and how we were being treated. All issued our team had raised about the constant bullying and mistreatment against us he somehow turned into issues about our team. He does not care about the players!!! Would not recommend this league at all, avoid at all costs!! Eventually ended up kicking our team out with absolutely no explanation or justification other than ‘we’ve spoke to the other teams and nobody wants you in the league’. Screams professional :)

Shambolic

Disorganised, don’t action any feedback you give them. No help whatsoever to get new players into the league, could turn up to a game and the court hadn’t been booked which was always blamed on a miscommunication from the lettings company. Do not enforce any rules stipulated on the website. Persistent trouble makers allowed to remain in the league.

Do not recommend at all.

Play at your own health risk

Complete disregard for players safety. No first aid kit on site or first aiders. No real regime for warming up prior to playing to prevent injuries. No insurance policies either if someone gets injured.

A really disappointing experience at You Play Gloucester league. What we thought was going to be a great experience, and our first game was just that, it became Frustrating that the company don’t seem to know their own rules - and are happy to bare face lie to players giving false reasoning to ban players from the league (with no real reason!!) but in the next breath happy to offer them an umpire job opportunity?! A few days further down the line, players are blocked from the social pages and no monies refunded (as of yet). Very strange. Absolutely no need for the way players have been treated and dismissed. Cruel. Happy to take the money though. Be aware.

Unprofessional - Avoid !!

What an awful experience!
To start it was brilliant the communication from signing up to getting on court i can not fault.

They had advertised as no experience needed and all abilities welcome, I was honest with Ellie & Emma in head office that I have already played in Div 4 NFL and they were OK with this, just hadn't for a few months.

Fast forward to finally convincing 7 other football mums to join me and play again (which took alot of convincing!) We did it finally ready for our 1st match.

We turn up and the ladies were lovely at the venue, well prepared & gave both teams a little pep talk we then went on to play!

The game was good, there was only 1 umpire which I'd have expected 2 one either side of the court to coach the play.
But regardless we all had a great time & won our game! The team were buzzing from this considering they hadn't played since school....especially our GS !

The next day I get a call from Emma HO - Who was not there, telling me I can no longer play for the league as I'm 'to' experienced? And our GS was to good so she couldn't either!
I was gobsmacked.

I have since questioned this decision with them reassuring me they wanted me to umpire & no bad feedback was given.

Since questioning them as I still wanted to play and aware of a few other players on another team are just as experienced as me haven't been banned, they are now saying my attitude was bad as I questioned the umpire on a few things!

They then proceeded to block me on our group FB page & WhatsApp group!
Even though I had already paid the £42 to play our next game!!

Are children running this company?! AVOID !!

Don’t waste your time or money

I joined a ‘fun league’ in good faith I would play for the 10 week season. This company placed us in teams then recommended not paying weekly on an individual basis which levied an additional weekly charge so I paid more money up front. Cut to mid season issues are not being dealt with regarding contact and lack of coach support, safety checks etc. Cut to our game yesterday which we won as the current winning team in our league, our player got hurt and was upset causing a break in play and today have found out we have received a team ban but via another player and not even from the company directly. I’ve also been blocked from our group Facebook page so I assume this is a permanent decision despite doing absolutely nothing wrong. When I called to find out if this was true Nathan said it’s his decision to ban the entire team rather than any individual as it’s easier and he only cared about monies owing to them and not how this decision has affected me, our player injury or our subsequent treatment despite mentioning everything that had happened over the last few weeks which apparently never made it back to head office. I would absolutely never recommend to anyone or rejoin based on my experience. I can’t believe a team ban was applied when no serious misconduct occurred, players who were also shouting on the other team weren’t banned either and it turns out the umpire is related to the player involved on the other team - yet I’m told her decision is still impartial. Have asked them to review and respond by email as only way to communicate now and hope this will be retracted and an apology given.
