Absolutely horrible and time-wasting experience.

I was looking for co-founders for my project, but it was so devastating to my time and health well-being that i've quit without ever looking back!

Half of the users are Indians, and they are extremally goofy and at the same time cocky. Even though i've talked only with one, their avatars and bio were talking for themselves.

I got literally 2 matches (or so, don't quite remember) and the first person said they won't join me unless i have working prototype and the second one just disappeared after talking with them for a while.

This site and this situation just show again and again that without money and\or connections you won't make it. I'm so sorry, but it's just the sad truth. I didn't believe it either.

According to statistics 90% of startups fail within 5 years or so.

All investors don't want startup based on documented idea - they only want prototype and team! This is the case for all startups.

Only pure luck, in face of money, connections, team, prototype, will ever make you rich and successful.

But of course, if you never give up, polish your strategy, and ready to wait long for success - then you do have a chance, even without money and\or connections. I hope you all succeed, even without these greedy investors.

Applying to Y Combinator has been an incredibly disappointing experience. While I fully understand that competition is tough and not every startup can be selected, the way Y Combinator handles rejections reflects a lack of professionalism and respect for founders' time and effort.

1. Lack of Transparency & Meaningful Feedback

Despite their claim of "carefully reviewing thousands of applications," they provide zero individualized feedback. Founders invest significant time refining their applications, yet YC dismisses them with a vague, copy-paste rejection email. If they truly review applications carefully, offering even a single sentence of constructive feedback should be the bare minimum.

2. Encouraging Founders to Reapply Without Justification

Their response encourages reapplying but provides no guidance on what to improve. This makes the process feel more like a numbers game rather than a genuine evaluation of startups. It raises concerns about whether applications are even thoroughly assessed or if YC simply relies on repeat applicants to pad their pipeline.

3. Disregard for Startup Founders' Efforts

YC brands itself as a founder-friendly accelerator, yet their communication is impersonal and dismissive. Many other accelerators, even smaller ones, take the time to provide feedback or at least engage in meaningful interactions. YC, despite its massive resources, chooses not to.

4. Outdated Selection Process & Bias

There are growing concerns about bias in their selection process, favoring certain backgrounds, geographies, or networks. Many innovative and high-potential startups are rejected without clear reasoning, while others with strong YC connections seem to have an easier path.

Verdict:
Y Combinator might have a strong reputation, but their handling of applicants is unprofessional and disheartening for serious entrepreneurs. If you're looking for an accelerator that values your time and effort, consider alternatives that actually provide real feedback and support rather than treating founders as just another statistic.
