We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Stables which is very well equipped. The sofa downstairs and bed upstairs were extremely comfortable and the overall decor was of good quality and very pleasing. The property is fairly remote but that wasn’t a problem for us - it was near the West Somerset Steam Railway which we wanted to visit! The owners, who live close by, were helpful and friendly without being at all intrusive. The small holding of which the property is a part has some ponies and sheep in a paddock nearby which adds to the interest of the location which has some lovely views and from which there are also many walks to enjoy.

Excellent location at the Harbour House Apartment overlooking the harbour at Porlock Weir. Stunning views towards Porlock Bay.
Very comfortable and spacious 2 bedroomed apartment for 4 people + living room, kitchen/ diner and balcony.
Ship Inn and Oyster Bar and interesting local shops and cafe within 2 minutes walk.

The cottage was perfect for a comfortable relaxing break, and is very well equipped. It is in a beautiful area just on the edge of Exmoor. It was amazing in the late evening to look over the field gate & see red deer grazing . So much to see & places to visit no further than 20miles away. Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting peace & tranquility

We've been booking holidays through Best of Exmoor for more than ten years now. They have always been professional and supportive, with a fine range of properties available. Our most recent stay, at Putham Barn, was one of our most enjoyable yet.

1 Meadow View,Brushford,was a ideal base for exploring the area. Dunster is well worth a visit.
The accommodation was first class, beautifully appointed,with a nice garden
to enjoy.
Would not hesitate to return to this property one day in the future

The Stables, Birch Cleave Cottages, Simonsbath, Exmoor.

This was our third stay at The Stables and it was as lovely as the first time we stayed. It was incredibly hot while we were there but the cottage was wonderfully cool compared to outside. Thank you for letting us stay at your wonderful cottage again. We'll be back!!

I have booked with The Best of Exmoor several times now; breaks for my husband and I, a family holiday and a weekend away with a friend. The selection of rental properties is really good. The booking experience has always been great; the property descriptions are spot on, the booking process is flawless and there is always a human being available to answer any queries by email or telephone. For my last booking I had to pay a damage deposit and this was refunded the day after the stay within an hour of my request. Such a great company to deal with!

We stayed at Little House in the Big Woods. This was an idyllic place to stay for a much needed recharge. The pod was immaculate. Its beautifully thought out and carefully equipped. Everything we needed and cosy warm. The view of dawn is stunning over its hills. Such helpful, friendly hosts and very welcoming holiday pets in the shape of puppy Queenie and cat Elvis. It was a joy to stay here.

We stayed for a week in Ball Cottage in Winsford.The cottage is lovely and very well equipped. The location is superb. Being on Exmoor there are many walks with superb scenery that are easily accessible both from the village and a short drive away. The back garden of the cottage is wonderful. We spent most of our late afternoons, after we had returned from our walk sitting in the garden by the River Exe and the bridge watching the birds around the river, very entertaining and relaxing

We stayed in Coain Cottage, Watchet for a weekend earlier this month. This is lovely cottage, steps from the harbour which comes with a parking pass that can be used in many local car parks. Spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds and a very efficient heating system. The perfect place for a relaxing weekend with local eateries and a coop nearby for essentials. Any queries were very quickly responded to.

We loved the proportion of the rooms and the cleanliness, it really was beautifully clean and comfortable. There are many local walks of various lengths but next time we will bring bikes so we can cycle to them rather than having to take the car. The wifi is a little flakey but is up most of the time and wasnt a problem

Fantastic location. Surrounded by wonderful walks and a brilliant vantage point to visit other popular sites like Watersmeet, Minehead, Oare etc. The village is served by 2 good pubs, a tearoom and a brilliant local shop. The cottage is beautifully quirky with enough space for us and our dogs. Fantastic shower and well equipped kitchen as well as a cosy lounge with log burner. Would highly recommend and hope to return.

Pros- Lovely position right on the coast path and sea views; Excellent communication throughout; plenty of space upstairs and down; one parking space and one permit which was handy; well stocked in terms of cutlery, pots and pans etc.

Cons- 4 sachets of UHT milk, 4 tea bags and sachets of coffee isn't great as a welcome pack. Doesn't compare well with other Air bnbs. And there was nothing else eg kitchen roll, oils, herbs etc
- 2 part used toilet rolls and no spares - also rather mean
- We were on a walking break and after 12-15 miles you really want a decent shower. The showers are new but not up to the job. It might have been a pressure problem that weekend I guess.
Importantly I should point out that I raised these concerns with the cottage company and they have addressed them with the owners.

We had the most wonderful stay at Cascade Cottage, just could not be any better. The Best of Exmoor does come up with some real gems...many thanks!

We stayed in Yenworthy Mill which was warm and comfortable in a wonderful, tranquil location at the head of a deep valley that leads right down to the sea. The walk down is quite beautiful though magical woods, the climb back up earns you a cream tea!

Plenty to explore and Top ship does lovely meals
