Skarper works really well at eliminating hills. It's easy to click on and off and gets me out on days I don't feel like a strenuous ride. I only use the lowest setting Eco and if I had a criticism it's that the top setting Turbo is unnecessary and Skarper would benefit from a setting below Eco instead. I have a rim brake bike so I needed a new disc and wheel strong enough to take the power. It got done eventually but added to the expense, but for disc brake cycles the fitting is easy. Skarper has good customer service and Harry was very helpful and accessable. I get about 25 to30 miles range including some hills but this does mean riding above 15mph at times or turning the motor off which is easy to do . The app works well giving you speed and the amount of battery left. A lower power setting would increase the range and would be a welcome addition to Skarper which I imagine could be achieved by dispensing with Turbo. All in all a very nice bit of kit. I would definitely recommend buying one

I bought 2 Skarper units and fitted them to my wife's and my "Frankenstein " MTBs ( bikes made with assorted strange parts and given new life ) , they are a Giant and a Canyon hard tail mountain bikes . The ordering and shipping process was easy , the units were well packed and DHL dealt with the import VAT charges and billed me directly . Yesterday I took out the Skarper for the second time. I rode 44km from Kreuzlingen to Pfyn and back, climbing 480 m. The ride time was about 3 &1/2 hours. Battery usage in Eco mode 33%. It feels just like riding my bike but It gives pedal assist on the steeper inclines. Looking forward to Skarpering in the Jura on route 7 in August .BTW in September, when school starts again, I'll just remove it and ride my undesirable "Frankie bike" the 10mins to teach in the VHS as normal. If you are going to fit the units yourself you will need a set of torx star allen keys and you may need a 44mm 16 teeth socket, BB 44-16 FC 007. Depending on your rear disc brake disc.

I've just got this on a bike to work scheme, still in early days of use, but it has made my 5mi commute, which includes a hill, far more achievable.
Would absolutely recommend. Two areas which I hope can be addressed. A lock on the device, to lock it to your bike, as you have to carry it around otherwise. Also a way to change modes, without using your phone.

Skarper has transformed my daily commute.Brilliant product.I now ride to work because I want to rather than feel I should.

Great device! The bike is still a bike, but now I ride uphill like on a flat surface. Especially if I calibrate it with a brick under the front wheel

First ride with Skarper unit on my Alpkit Sonder Camino gravel bike. I was very impressed. Easy to use using an app.on my phone attached to the handle bars. Cycled in Lincolnshire Wolds which are quite hilly. Only used unit on steeper hills. Eco was enough assist. On flat and less steep hills I switched it off - weight of Skarper was not a problem. Cycled 42 km- mostly road but 2 km off road. Cycled 42 km and 418m ascent and only used 18% of battery! Very impressed.

The product is amazing, it has completely transformed my MTB experience.

Rapid delivery, easy to follow fitting instructions and butter fingers went and dropped the unit on the garage floor from about 1.1m whilst installing it.
Neither I nor the motor were very happy about it. The concrete floor didn't seem too bothered.
All the lights still come on as expected, but there is a depressingly large crack in the casing.
So I took a deep breath and emailed Harry expecting moderately bad news and possibly a big bill.
What I actually got was a swift response telling me not to worry and that he would dispatch a new casing the next day if I was happy to have a go fitting it myself (otherwise I could send it back and they would do it).
My only penance was to fess up how I had managed it in the first place and provide some photos.
Stellar customer service and I'm looking forward to actually using it soon!

I bought this after a test ride at Hewitt Cycles. It's a great device that gives you a boost when needed. It's great for hills so that you're not completely knackered at the top, but still able to put some effort in to get your heart going. The app works well switching between the three levels of assistance.
The level of customer service is excellent and Harry answered all my queries before and after I bought it promptly and with great knowledge. You can get this on the cycle to work scheme too.

Very easy to install the disc, takes 30 seconds take off and replace, well built, did see the difference going up hill, happy with my purchase

Communication was great and delivery was fast. I had an issue with fitting the device and Skarper support were extremely quick and helpful. The device itself is great, lots of power and the range is as advertised, very happy.

I recently purchased a Skarper having previously been able to try one out; performance was very impressive. The YouTube videos explaining the set up were good but I did need to contact their customer services by email with queries; responses (from Harry) were prompt and helpful.

I’ve been really impressed with it so far. Being able to upgrade my own bike instead of switching to a full e-bike was a big win for me, and the assist feels spot on.

Install was super easy honestly quicker than I expected.

The app is a nice bonus. It gives you the info you actually need without being over the top.

What I like as well is that when you’re not riding, you can take it off and keep it secure. It just adds a bit of peace of mind, especially if you’re out for longer rides.

I absolutely love mine it genuinely makes me want to get out and ride more. The battery goes for ages, it clips on and off in seconds, and it just fits into my routine really easily. I get asked about it all the time when I’m out, which says a lot.

It is a great system overall. You can keep your own bike while still enjoying the electric power assistance.

I would say if you are not an experienced DIY person, then find someone to install it for you. Once it is done, it is pretty straightforward to use.

The new Skarper app is a good touch, too; it gives you essential system history and details. Harry was also very helpful during the system upgrade.

When you are not using it, lock it away as in a long cycling touring, an extra security measure Im really appreciate.

The first time I rode with Skarper I was surprised! It was so strong and powerful in our Crystal Palace Hill climb that it felt exhilarating!

It's super easy to take off and on the bike and after it's off your bike is back to normal.

I love my bike and take it in many adventures, but when going to the city or commuting it's great to have a bit of help so I don't sweat when I'm there.

I got mine on black friday and it was such a good deal. It already helped me save money in transport and already paid itself after one year or less!

I've been using Skarper for my daily commute every week and rocked more than 800 miles on it so far. The battery is great for commuting as I don't need to charge it in the office and I can speed up my commute with the amazing turbo mode, while keeping an eye on the battery via the app.

I struggle with space in my house and having one bike I can use to go out on gravel and then swap wheels to commute to work is great and cost-effective! I would definitely recommend Skarper and have already spread the word to my friends.

Fitted Skarper to a Dawes tandem, dead easy to fit and set up.
It’s a game changer, tested it out around where we live, we have a few hills and wouldn’t have got up them without the skarper fitted.
Before buying the Skarper we had the tandem out in the Yorkshire dales when out & about with the motorhome and we struggled, seen the skarper and was a bit sceptical. If like me you’re reading reviews before buying and not quite sure, trust me, go for it! It is, without doubt, a brilliant idea.
