Saw David Luke speak on the science of psychedelics in Belfast and was a great night, really informative and entertaining

I recently attended the Psychology of Carl Jung talk in London and was blown away by the experience. Unfortunately I’m only able to attend talks physically in London, so I was delighted to attend this one. Thank you so much and I hope to attend more psychology talks in future!

I had the opportunity to attend the SeedTalks event “The Neuroscience of Adverse Childhood Experiences” led by Jeffrey DeMarco, and I’m still reflecting on how insightful and thought-provoking it was.

What stood out most was the balance between scientific depth and practical application. The discussion around how early adversity shapes brain development—without framing outcomes as fixed or deterministic—was particularly impactful. The emphasis on neuroplasticity, resilience, and the role of supportive relationships offered a refreshing and hopeful perspective within what can often feel like a heavy topic.

I also found the practical strategies around stress awareness and regulation, such as identifying personal stress patterns and using grounding techniques, really valuable. They reinforced the idea that even small, intentional actions can help us regain a sense of control.

The session has definitely sparked further questions for me, especially around the overlap between trauma, development, and individual differences. It’s given me a lot to think about as I continue shaping my dissertation, particularly in exploring how we conceptualise resilience and avoid overly deterministic frameworks.

I have been to two seed talk events at the Wardrobe in Leeds in the last year. Both were superb. Speakers combine serious subject matter with humour well, making complex comments more accessible without dumbing down the neuroscience. I have left both events feeling seen and with a refreshed perspective on the subject matter at hand - attachment styles and AuDHD. The events are well organised, easy to book and the Wardrobe is a great venue for such talks - close to public transport hubs and car parks for those like me not living in the city. Will definitely do more.

I attended a seed talk on the History of Folk Horror, in Northampton at the Tim Rodber Centre. The lecturer, Marisa Linton was amazing. She made the subject so interesting and accessible, while also being complex, detailed and full of facts. Really enjoyed the evening, and from the audience reaction so did everyone else.

Excellent, wide ranging talk covering both literature and movies. Would recommend it to anyone interested in gothic, ghosts and the occult. The question and answer section was also very illuminating.

I attended the History of Ghosts & the Occult in Fiction & Film talk by Professor Linton and it was fascinating! I loved her passion and the huge breath of things covered. You could tell she knew so much more but had tailored it so it could suit lots of different levels. She came across as very warm and funny as well. Sometimes lectures can be a bit stuffy but she made it fun, accessible, and relevant to now as well as when the books/films were written/made. Even going all the way up to Sinners! A hard thing to do but she seemed so at ease talking about it and answering questions.
This was the first Seed talk I'd been to. I liked that I could attend online and still ask questions, and that I got a recording after. A great set up and I'll definitely look out for more from Seed & Prof Linton.

I attended the ADHD Weight Loss 6 week course. It was hosted by Lisa Smith and Joanne Lee, they are both excellent presenters and really know their subject. Based on scientific evidence and delivered with confidence and warmth in a manner the audience can receive and understand; a unique blend of all that matters when attending training. Highly recommend the work of Lisa Smith and Joanne Lee - thank you!

The talks are excellent, both in person and online. The content is very high quality, as though you've just dropped in on an high quality university lecture, and the atmosphere has been great. It feels like a safe environment to ask questions and both venues I've attended have offered drinks and snacks.

I found customer service to be highly responsive and they give the impression of really caring about their customers.

Seed Talks is only losing a star because I received a parking fine from one venue and I'd had no warning in the information received prior to attending*.

Definitely attend the talks, whether you want to deepen your knowledge of a subject or learn something entirely new, but do some homework on the venue so you don't end up with a sting in the tail.

*Seed Talks seems to have updated it's listings to include a parking charge warning - pay attention to the additional information.

My first Seed Talk was with Professor Diane Purkiss on the History of Witchcraft, Rituals & Patriarchy. It didn't disappoint!

The venue was perfect for the talk, staff were friendly and the Seed Talk representative managed the whole evening very well (Q&A)

I highly recommend Seed Talks and will attend future talks (both online and at a venue).

I attended the Big Trust book tour with Dr. Shade Zahrai, and it was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. The venue at The Arches created a calm, welcoming atmosphere, and the team running the event had everything organised seamlessly, which made the whole experience feel effortless.
The content struck a great balance between practical guidance and inspiring ideas. The Q&A sessions were particularly lively with a genuine sense of connection between the audience and the speaker.
Overall, it was a wonderfully put‑together event that exceeded my expectations. If this is the standard, I’d be more than happy to attend future sessions. Highly recommended.

I have now attended several Seed Talks, two or three by Dr David Luke and one by Katie Evans. All talks have been absolutely fascinating. Really interesting subjects presented by highly entertaining and extremely knowledgeable presenters. I could not recommend these events more highly. If you want to do something a little different with your evenings than sit in front of the box or hit the pub, these talks are a welcome alternative. Thought provoking, mind expanding stuff. Do it!

Great opportunity to work on your mind for cheap! Have ended up at a couple across London and it’s always good for meeting people interested in ideas in a less formal environment than academia, which is much needed for me! Well produced events at the couple I’ve been to.

For it to be ruined by incompetence and poor organisation, it was initially a relief for a few reasons to see we could upgrade outlets tickets to be able to sit nearer the stage we arrived in plenty of time a good 15 mins before the talk started only to find that due to lack of organisation and keeping the seats solely allocated to those that had paid the extra money for, only to taken and people left to sit entirely where they wanted, regardless of paying extra or not, some lucky individuals got to sit comfortably at the front at no extra cost. We was offered to have seats bought out to sit on the side, but was made to feel uncomfortable and proceeded to sit right at the back, due to the confrontation I sat through the whole talk in pain and discomfort worrying about not being able to access the toilets on an event of an emergency due to a bowel condition. Also the venue was exceptionally hot so added more to the awful discomfort

As someone who has worked in mental health for years and has a lot of personal experiences with it also...plus a little fellow weirdo! I have been excited for this talk ever since my gorgeous friend suggested it!

Needless to say not only did it not disappoint, it far exceeded my expectations.
Links and correlations made to various practitioners, such as Freud and Jung, interested me in particular as it was refreshing to explore their work through a different lens.

As a very proud queer woman and activist...I loved the section discussing this. Especially given that one of my fave films of all time has a sinister reflection of a difficult time in queer history! A connection I had no previously made!
I am not going to give these tidbits of horror knowledge gold away...as this is a talk to be enjoyed whilst facilitated by Katie.

Katie came on and made us all feel instantly at ease. She is warm and engaging and had me giggling from the beginning.
Unlike some talks where the speaker can lose their audience...there were no worries of that happening on Tuesday at the Glee Club.
Katie was clear and easy to understand and her love for psychology and horror shone through brighter than the Amulet in monster Squad!

She was also kind enough to chat with us after the talk and I now have a list of horrors waiting for me to watch!

We will definitely be attending other shows by Katie and Seedtalks in the future.

First dive into understanding the psychology of horror! The event was extremely well planned and organised, starting right on time. The Speaker, Katie was fantastic, her stage presence and way of presenting felt genuine and well researched with a great amount of humor . As someone who hasn’t watched much horror in the past, it definitely opened my eyes to certain aspects of the genre that really interested me.
100% recommend, and I’ll be on the look out for more seed talks in the future!

I recently attended a talk by Katie Evans on the Psychology of Horror Movies at the Capstone theater. She brilliantly dealt with how horror relates to the subconscious, and I enjoyed the evening very much being a big horror movie fan. I also loved leaning the history of the genre, it effects on society and it made me understand why I love to be scared.
It was an amazing night, I highly recommend it
