i’ve bought plants from the Secret Gardening Club since last autumn. Until the spring I had received well packed healthy plants and was delighted with them.
However in May something went very wrong not only for me but for many other reviewers. I had ordered a large number of plants in October 21 due for delivery in May. That order was cancelled at short notice.
I also received an order, around the same time, placed in April. That order was delivered but several of the plants were already dead the rest were dying.
I very eventually, after lots of follow up, received a refund for these orders. I vowed never to order from them again!
However in August I noticed that the reviews were beginning to improve so somewhat against my better judgement I placed another order. That order I received today. It was well packaged the plants were strong and well grown. I was delighted.
I am writing this in the hope that this company has managed to get on top of the problems it had earlier in the year. At its best it was a good company offering great value. I wanted to give credit where credit was due.
I hope by doing so I can play some little part in getting this company back on its feet. When it was good it was very good, the plants were excellent and great value.
I don’t know what went wrong in the Spring but if it’s been put right and this company can continue in the way it did last Autumn it will be great for all us gardeners.

Second time ordering from this company, and I should have not bothered having had a terrible experience the first time.
I purchased 13 plants from this company which arrived in poor state, some not even in their pots anymore. I contacted them via email to be ignored.
Previously, I received plants from this company as well as someone else’s full order. I contacted them to advise them of this (note they also breeched data protection as I received the ladies full address and contact details as well as her order) and they then arranged collection for it to be sent on to her. So these plants were out of water and sunlight for goodness knows how long before she received them.
Please avoid buying from this company as they could not care less about customer service or satisfaction.

I got my plants in good (not exellent, but good) conditions.
the wide choice at the website + good conditions = good.
I had been waiting for 2 weeks, after that had email them my order list - to remind, and got it in 3 days after that. not sure, do they need that letter or not))))

I myself have tried and tried to get a refund from the Secret Gardening Club. It is impossible. I have emailed numerous times, I have phoned to no avail. I have written a Royal Mail Signed for letter, guess what absolutely no response. My order was placed November 2021 for delivery 2022 in the hope my garden would look pretty for this year. No such luck !!!!!
My order was for over £40. Which as a pensioner or anyone is a fair amount. Secret Garden club is the perfect name for this unscrupulous company. Please new possible customers steer well clear from ordering anything from the Secret Gardening club. You will never get satisfaction in any regard.

Very surprised at the negative reviews. I have visited the Terrington site and seen the quality of the plants on offer. For the purchase price they represent excellent value for money.
My two recent purchases arrived in reasonable time and well packed. The plants are pot-bound, but gentle teasing out of the roots and subsequent replanting have given me excellent long lasting plants for a fraction of the price a local garden centre would charge.
I will certainly continue to use them.

My two orders were unfulfilled. When I raised the matter I was offeredd profuse apologies and a refund. Despite repeated chasing and threats of legal action, no refund has been given.

As others have commented very poor experience regarding refund for unfulfilled order. Previous order was satisfactory but I certainly won’t be buying from them again.

If I could have given 0 stars I would have. January 2021 pre ordered and paid. Eventually received an email saying they couldn’t fulfill order and they said they’d refund money paid in January. Approaching 9 months later, no refund received, wall of silence however I try to contact them.
Absolute charlatans - do not order from them.

Don’t waste your money! They will send unhealthy plants at best. Have had orders cancelled and I am waiting months later for a refund. They do not reply to emails . Doubtful I will ever get it back now . Plants I did get were rubbish and didn’t survive. So just don’t bother, pay a bit extra somewhere else.

Previous to this year I’d had several orders from this company and all plants were received in excellent order and performed well. Then I did a pre order in Feb, was informed due to large amount of orders there was a delay. Plants eventually arrived and some didn’t look particularly healthy and some had no growth on at all. But it was early spring so I planted out as per instructions received thinking that the plants would emerge later as the weather warmed up. The plants with growth just continued to die and the others never materialised. I emailed to complain and was told a full refund would be given, nothing received. 2 more emails ignored. Today I received another marketing email with “great offers”, what a joke. The only reason they have 2 stars instead of one is for past orders!

Same as others. SecretGardening club cancelled order in May and despite dozens of emails have yet to give refund. Given their performance and the random names who reply to me I am beginning to believe it is a not a genuine company. Do not order from these people either at Lavender World or Secret Gardening club.

Things started well enough. I received 2 or 3 orders that I was happy with. Then in February I pre-ordered some plants (£35 in total) for May delivery. Late in May I received an email explaining they couldn’t fulfil the order and asking if I wanted a credit voucher or refund. I asked for a refund and waited…..and waited…..several emails later I was still waiting with zero response. I had purchased using PayPal and after waiting over 2 months I lodged a dispute with them. They asked SGC to refund me but it didn’t happen so PayPal refunded me instead. What a terrible shame…….I won’t ever use them again…….

I have been a customer for a few years and I had always been very happy with the service, costs and condition of the plants that arrived. Even after reading some terrible reviews this year, I decided to give them another chance and I have not been disappointed. I have ordered twice this summer (I didn't want to risk spending too much the first time in case of problems after reading the reviews). However, I need not have worried as 9 out of 10 plants arrived after a couple of weeks, delivery time had been quoted on the website, and the one that they didn't send was credited after a couple of weeks too, as promised on their note within the parcel. I would say if you are prepared to be patient for both the delivery and refund then you should give these guys a chance. They may have had some issues earlier this year, maybe out of their control for whatever reason? I will be returning again.

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing. I bought over 50 plants. I received no updates re delivery and had to email twice to chase then they just turned up after about 16 days. They were in three boxes and the system for holding the pots in place seems good, unfortunately despite labels on the boxes indicating how they should be upright the courier had clearly ignored this as about half the plants had come out of their pots in transit causing damage to some plus making it impossible to identify which plant was which.

Also, they had clearly sat in the couriers depot over one of our hottest weekends and some had turned black and rotted.

I sent an email with an explanation and photos. They have no contact number which I only found out when I wanted to contact them. Nothing received back after 6 days so I’ve had to chase again.

I may have to go through my credit card company for a refund

My wife ordered an array of different plants for our new garden. Plants arrived 2 days later in excellent condition, and to the order that we placed. All the plants survived and came out beautifully. Very impressed with the service and plants.

Very happy customer will definitely be using them again. After seeing other reviews I was somewhat worried that I wouldn’t receive anything at all. But I’m very please to say I received everything I ordered and all in very good condition, there was a 3 day delay in delivery but that can happen with any company. I can’t wait to see them all come into full bloom. A very happy customer.

Placed two orders back in February which I have never received. Numerous emails were completely ignored requesting a refund so in the end I requested chargeback from my bank and I can't believe that The Secret Gardening Club are trying to claim that they believe the charge was correct! How can they say it is correct to charge for something they have never sent and even said they weren't able to fulfill the orders. I am surprised this company is still trading as there are hundreds if not thousands of other people who have been ripped off by them. Avoid at all costs!

I came across the Secret Gardening Club last year when I bought a selection of ‘unloved’ plants for a very modest price. I was amazed and impressed by the quality of those plants and we have enjoyed new flowers this year as a result.
In early 2022 I was bombarded with email about the Goodwill Pass: for a one off payment plants (also goods from other parts of the Yorkshire Lavender business) would be half price for the coming 12 months. The price of the pass dropped to £5 and I decided to invest on a basis that I could easily get my money back.
My first order with my Goodwill Pass was a huge disappointment, only 2 plants were delivered and they were in very poor condition, I was promised a refund for the 2 that didn’t arrive. No refund arrived and numerous emails sent in the weeks that followed were ignored.
Then, at the end of July, I discovered that my refund had arrived in my account!! Anxious to get some value from my Goodwill Pass I decided to place another order.
My plants arrived this morning, the order was complete and the pots were carefully secured in place so that plants weren’t damaged in transit. These plants seem at least as good as my first order: no obvious aphids, stocky little plants that will no doubt flourish once they can spread their roots a little once planted out.
Why not 5 stars? There are still problems with the Goodwill Pass system, a separate catalogue exists for those Goodwill Pass customers who seek a discount on postage prices as well as plants. If one visits this alternative Goodwill listing one finds that the choice is severely limited and many plants listed as available on the main site are ‘out of stock’ on the Goodwill Pass listing.
In the end I decided to pay the full price for packaging and postage, I was still making a considerable saving on the plants and have now broken even on my investment! I really hope that whatever was causing this company so many problems during the early months of the year has been resolved and that orders will be well managed going forward.

Would give this company a zero if I could. Also trading as lavenderworld.co.Uk this company is a complete con/ scam.
As other people have said they take your money, deliver dead plants or also in my case don’t deliver plants and say they have refunded you ( which they haven’t)
3 months later, I still haven’t received that refund. The latest is they asked me for my bank details. The bank said don’t give them out. Will be persuing this through banking despute. It is only a small amount but it is the principle of it.
Don’t give up if you are in the same position as me. Hassle them and get onto your bank.
This company needs closing down. Whoever is behind this should be ashamed of themselves.
