Want your communication to go into a giant AI black hole? Try Schweiger.
The doctors and medical staff are okay, but everything else is a nightmare of AI dead ends. Like not even AIs that take you somewhere that eventually leads to a human that might have the answer. AIs that dump whatever you say into a giant virtual heap and laugh at you. I guess those AIs haven't figured out how to bill you for the privilege, yet, but they're on it I'm sure. They definitely make sure you find out about any outstanding balances in a timely fashion even if they ghost you for pretty much everything else.
How NOT to treat a patient
When a medical professional office cancels an appointment with a patient do you expect a call to inform you and reschedule? I do. This operation sends you a text through their app! I don't want to be on my phone to keep track of the possibility of them cancelling on me. I wouldn't text them to cancel. If this is the kind of impersonal care you enjoy receiving-then go ahead. I'll be looking for a new dermatologist.
My husband went to a doctor visit at…
My husband went to a doctor visit at Schweiger Dermatology and was told by his provider there that she didn’t know what the lesion on his arm was and sprayed it with liquid nitrogen, told him to return in six months. The lesion kept growing and didn’t look good after being hit with the nitrogen. He obtained an appointment with a doctor associated with a well known local medical university and after being partially removed to determine a biopsy, it was diagnosed as squamous cell carcinoma and he is being scheduled for surgery to have the entire lesion properly removed. If you want or need good medical care I highly recommend you avoid any Schweiger Dermatology office.
Lsa Antonczak the aprn who examined me…
Lsa Antonczak the aprn who examined me took about 2 minutes in the room, was suppose to be full body looked under my feet and my back for a few seconds had to show her what I concerned about on my back, never looked at the front of my body. the whole exam was a total waste of time. I will not return.
Great doctors
Great doctors. But be prepared to pay for the bill at least 2-3 times
Very poor experience with Alexandra Dimoski.
My appointment with Alexandra Dimoski was rushed and impersonal — she seemed disinterested throughout.
I paid full price but received a fraction of the attention I expected. Very disappointing experience.
Hold on to your Wallets
Hold on to your Wallets! Their billing practices are crazy. I received multiple bills, for services the same day, from Multilple doctors, with bills arriving over 6 months apart. The billing department is useless to understand or communicate what the bills are actual for. Example, I saw 2 doctors during one visit. I received 3 bills, Multiple doctors listed, and the bills were still coming in over 6 months later. (3 different sets of bills for 1 office visit) Save yourself the aggravation and thousands of dollars in unexplained billing. Choose someone (anyone) else! I suggest checking Reddit as well. You will see many other posts from people with the same issue as I explained. I wish I had checked first and saved the frustration and money. You have been warned…….
These people are butchers
These people are butchers
They had my husband in their office for 5.5 hours hacking in him. They told him it was ok to take his blood thinner all the way up to the appt. As a result they left my husband in severe pain and he lost a pint of blood which he is now anemic. PLUS THEY WON'T QUIT CALLING US. Avoid at all costa.
Horrible phone system
Horrible phone system. Left my number in the cue not to loose my space for a call back. Never got a call back.
Schweiger Dermatology has great doctors…
Schweiger Dermatology has great doctors but recently changed their phone system to an AI voice that will help. The phone system is so bad I am thinking of looking for another practice to go to. Also tried an email to the founder, Dr. Schweiger.....but the message could not be sent.
Good doctors creating awful systems for their patients.
Schweiger isn't just a gatekeeper
Schweiger isn't just a gatekeeper, they've built a wall that prevents you from getting needed medical advice from your dermatologist or their staff. I've called multiple times (was on hold for 16 minutes before I gave up) to try to get answers about a prescription sent to our pharmacy 5 days ago (for an uncomfortable skin condition that continues to go untreated.) The pharmacy advised the medication isn't covered by our insurance and they've asked the doctor if a covered medication can be substituted. If I could talk directly to the doctor's staff, I might be able to get this resolved, but I can only get to a Schweiger recording that transfers me to be left on hold until I give up.
Since Schweiger bought out California…
Since Schweiger bought out California Skin Institute the patient experience is abysmal. This is apparently a larger NY state company that bought a lot of dermatologists offices in this area. You can't even call your local office directly - EVER - the 310 area code phone number goes to some automated service, that will encourage you to text them, then switch you to some out sourced answering service. The patient portal doesn't work - you can't send a message. When I had a billing issue I had to drive to the office TWICE just to get the phone number of somewhere else to call. It's insane - I have since switched to a different derm office. Such a shame, I was with them for years and now it just sucks.
Ruined a Great Derm Office
My dermatologist's office was acquired by this company. I never had any problems before. Now the office gives you a quote for the visit but outsources the billing and collection to a call center. I was told my five-minute video call would be $70 as a self-pay. Then they charged me $450. I keep going back and forth from the office telling me to talk to the call center to the call center saying the office told them to bill $450. Terrible experience!
Feel like they like to generate a lot…
Feel like they like to generate a lot of visits rather than treat patients. Only care about revenue.
Stamford office: Great if you like scars
I went to the Schweiger office in Stamford, CT, for removal of a skin cancer on my forearm. I did not see a doctor, but a physicians assistant. He removed the growth, stitched it up. During the two weeks before my follow-up appt, I noted that the stitches looked loose and poorly done. (I am a sailor and one-time sailmaker, so I know how stitches should look.) But the incision stayed closed. The stitches were removed not by the phys asst., but by a nurse.
The next day half the incision opened up, revealing quite a deep gash. Fortunately it didn't bleed. I called the Schweiger office and was basically blown off: It was Christmas Eve, and they were more interested in going home early. I was told I could drive to another office and see the same phys asst who did the job. Yeah, 20 miles on I-95 on Christmas Eve afternoon? I'd still be on the road. So I consulted ChatGPT, got instructions on how to treat the wound and followed them. Took two or three weeks to fully heal, and now I have a nice scar on my forearm. (The part of the incision that didn't open healed fine.)
I know things can go wrong, but you hope if they do the so-called professional who did the job in the first place will be there to help out. Apparently this is not the case with Schweiger Derm, at least not with the Stamford office. Needless to say, I am seeing another dermatologist now.
Schweiger is a total fraud
Schweiger Dermatology (formerly CSI) is an absolute fraud. I went to Schweiger on 12/18/2025 to have two moles removed. The doctor used liquid nitrogen to freeze them and told me they would fall off in a week or two. The procedure was not covered by my insurance, so I was paying out of pocket. Total cost was $450, which I paid IN FULL, at the time of my visit, by credit card.
2-3 weeks later, I received a text that I had an unpaid balance. I clicked on the link to see a balance of $450, with no mention of any previous payment. I assumed it was a simple clerical error (it happens) and responded that I had paid in full on 12/18. A few days later, I received another text saying they had no record of my payment. I checked my credit card activity to ensure the charge had, in fact, gone through (it had) and asked them to check again. A few days later, same result -- no record of my payment.
In the meantime, the moles I had "paid" to remove had not fully fallen off. So, I scheduled a follow up visit for 2/10/2026 and figured I would bring a copy of my credit card receipt to show them in person. I did so and they said it would be taken care of. They then billed me another $250 for that visit, which was somewhat annoying, as I had thought I had already paid to have this procedure done; but, as the doctor had originally let me know it might take two visits, I paid the $250, in full, by credit card.
A week or so later, I received another message saying the original $450 bill was still not paid. I sent a fairly scathing email, saying I had literally shown them the bill in-person and they needed to deal with it. Last week -- almost three months after the original visit -- they finally sent me an email saying the original $450 had been taken care of and was no longer outstanding. If only the story could end there. In the same email, they let me know I still had an outstanding balance for the second visit, on 2/10/2026, and that the balance was not $250, but $1000 -- more than twice as much as the original procedure for which this visit was only a follow-up!
I posted a review of what I described above on Google a few months ago. I heard back from Schweiger almost immediately, letting me know the issue had been resolved and apologizing for what had taken place. About time. Fast forward to this week: yet another bill in the mail, claiming I still owe $1000. Unbelievable.
I imagine many people who pay out of pocket don't keep track of all this and wind up paying twice or paying for more than what they received. Or they don't have time to deal with the dispute over and over and over again and capitulate. Others pay using their insurance and, since the insurance company doesn't know what procedures were done or not, they wind up paying for these made up charges.
Net, Schweiger is a total fraud. If you use them, ensure you go through your billing with a fine-toothed comb. Buyer beware!
One of the worst healthcare experiences…
One of the worst healthcare experiences I have ever had.
What should have been a simple request for a routine prescription cream turned into more than three hours of wasted time, endless bureaucracy, and a completely dehumanizing process.
The most shocking part was that it was virtually impossible to reach anyone in the actual office. Instead, I spent over an hour speaking with outsourced customer service representatives sitting in the Philippines who had no connection to the practice, no knowledge of my daughter's medical history, no understanding of the circumstances, and no authority to solve the problem. They were reading from scripts and following protocols, but had no real-world understanding of what was actually happening in New York or any ability to exercise judgment or common sense.
Think about that for a moment: when a patient has an urgent issue involving a New York medical practice, there is seemingly no way to reach the people who actually work in that office. Instead, you are routed through a distant call center staffed by people who cannot help and who have no meaningful connection to your care.
The prescription was for my daughter, who is currently in London. Because she could not participate in a telemedicine visit, I was told that if I got on the call instead, the prescription could potentially be handled anyway. If that is true, then what exactly is the purpose of the telemedicine appointment other than generating another $80 charge?
The message I received was essentially that the process could be worked around as long as someone paid for the appointment. That does not feel like healthcare. It feels like a billing exercise.
To make matters even more absurd, I was not asking for an opioid, a controlled substance, or anything remotely high-risk. I was trying to obtain a simple tube of prescription cream. Yet this required hours of phone calls, multiple transfers, an unnecessary telemedicine appointment, and additional fees.
The entire experience left me with the impression that this is a massive revenue-generating operation that has lost sight of the human experience. Every step of the process felt designed to create friction, additional appointments, and additional charges rather than solve a straightforward problem. There was no flexibility, no common sense, no ownership, and no meaningful customer service.
Healthcare should be about patients. Instead, this experience felt like being trapped inside a corporate machine where nobody is empowered to help and nobody seems to care how much time, money, and frustration the process creates.
After more than three hours, I still did not have the medication. That says everything.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend this practice.
NO STARS
NO STARS! This is an alert to patients. They’ll begin charging you 3% surcharge on medical and cosmetic services if you use your credit card. So if you spend $1000 you’ll be charged an extra $30!! Who does that to their patients?! This is ridiculous. As if they don’t make enough money. Think about that.
Schweiger derm allergist
Schweiger derm now has allergist. DO NOT VISIT. I am a health care provider as well as many of my family and friends. I have never seen such a poorly run office. Fist I wanted to have a copy of my lab results, i imform them i use Northwell , I was told no problem. I was then told that I need to sign a release 2 pages and.Dr Sumet Shandu insisted I return for results. I call the lab they e mail the results and arranged for a new superb Allergist that treated me with respect printed results of skin test at end of the visit and explain them. Dr SUMEET SANDHU was texted twice after a reaction to a medication she suggested, never called or texted back in total I called a minimum of 12 times in 10 days never an answer. In addition she wrote on my chart allergic conjunctivitis and never look at my eyes, not true right after i saw my ophalmologist and everything was fine. Even pictures taken everything normal. I visited the Garden City office. The patient representative never answer my calls either..Shame shame. Patient beware.DO NOT VISIT GARDEN CITY OFFICE FOR ALLERGY ISSUES.
Double Billing
Great doctor, terrible billing department. I went for an appointment recently and received a bill shortly thereafter which I paid through a bank pull immediately. Schweiger is listed on the bank transaction. Today I received a notice that the bill is unpaid. Their customer service team told me I need to provide proof of payment through some other process even though they are listed as the firm who withdrew the amount. Fixing their terrible accounting should not be my problem but theirs. If they escalate this further and try to do something to my credit I will be coming after them legally. I will be posting on every site I can find.
