It was difficult finding an insurance to cover my 4 months of travel in South East Asia and Sainsbury's bank came out the most competitive. I didn't need to use them as my trip was trouble free, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Process was easy

We have used Sainsburys pet insurance in the past it is so easy to set up and access, the cover is perfect for us and although everything is done on line the staff at the end of the phone were very kind and helpful.

I was worried it would be complicated to set up pet insurance for Alfie, but it was the opposite, it was clear & easy.

I keep getting emails saying I am covered. They go on to say to the value of £0 for various items. Also when, five months after l took out an annnual travel policy for my wife and I,I notified them that my wife had just been advised to have a hip replacement operation, they immediately cancelled her cover. For me they were absolutely useless.

I had a promotion code for my pet insurance and there was nowhere to enter it, so not impressed. I looked everywhere it just went straight on to direct debit set up despite me paying the year. There was no option to enter the promotion code. This was offered at the start

The insurance company Sainsbury's use is awful. The website was appalling ( possibly to discourage anyone from making a claim ) as we did.

Comprehensive cover for reasonable price. Very satisfied.

Easy straightforward and a good choice

I was promised the £35 worth of Nectar points, that was in December 2025, and I'm still waiting, I'm still with Sainsbury's bank pet insurance and I can't even log in to my account as they send me an email half an hour later and the code has expired, so far I'm not very impressed with them.

Absolutely terrible experience. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company.

After making a claim for my cat, it took over a month to process, which is completely unacceptable when you’re relying on insurance during a stressful time. Throughout that period I was repeatedly told by different advisors that I would receive my payment within a “few days”, yet those days turned into weeks with no payment and no clear answers.

Every time I contacted them I was told something completely different, which shows a serious lack of communication and organisation within the company. No one seemed to know what was actually happening with my claim.

The worst part is that my vet bill was close to £900, yet I only received around £700 back. After already deducting the excess, they then took a further £100 because of a supposed date of birth change for my cat, which is absolutely insane and completely unrelated to the claim itself.

Instead of supporting customers when they actually need help, it feels like this company looks for any excuse possible to reduce payouts and increase premiums.

I have now made several complaints and have been told it could take up to 8 weeks just to get a resolution, which is unacceptable.

Overall this has been an incredibly frustrating experience and I regret choosing this company. If you’re considering pet insurance, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

After being delayed in Vietnam due to the middle east crisis and our insurance running out I contacted customer services who extended our policy until we returned. This took away the worry we were already experiencing.
