Ive had the same experience as other…
Ive had the same experience as other bad reviews. Can't trust a word they day at this dealership- get everything in writing
Dishonest sales tactics and sloppy errors resulting in over a 6 week delay to get my previous car settlement paid off and the V5C was sent to the wrong address and had the wrong name on it. I would avoid this place- dodgey sales rep and a complaints email that no one responds to.
The manager Andrew Keenan also never gave a written response to my complaint. only a call where no fault was admitted on behalf of his sales rep bradley- who filled out the wrong reference number for the finance payment, put the order form and V5C to the wrong address, refused to give me my sales order form- saying on the phone "why do you need that" and mis-led me on a finance contract being for a company car- i am currently pursuing this with the finance company.
The manager on the telephone agreed to a letter to acknowledge the finance agreement was an honest mistake of confusion- but then never got back to me on approving a letter which outlined this. THIS is why I am now writing this complaint as it has been 2 weeks since then.
I have had to pay road tax on this car twice, go to a strangers house to get hold of the V5C, fill out a V62 form, pay for this and then get a letter from the DVLA to pay road tax for this. Yet no apology from the dealership for any of the following:
The V5C going to the wrong address and subsequent payments and issue with the finance company as the address is wrong
The refusal of Bradley to provide me the sales order form
The error of Bradley to type the correct reference number to clear the finance on a previous car- this resulted in two further payments going from my account. Two months it took them to clear finance. He was rude with my on the phone for why I kept calling.
The dishonesty or ill-informed nature of Bradley claiming to be getting me a company car deal when it is in fact a personal finance deal.
They have apologised for none of it.
Bradley is hands -down the most awful sales person I have encountered - no ounce of recognition of his errors. A truly slimy sales rep made for the tv show The Apprentice.
The icing on the cake was when Bradley spoke to me to say- we can offer £7500 for your car without seeing it. We might be able to offer more when we see it. This for a car with over 84,000 miles on it. On the day I turn up, he refuses to offer anymore with the humiliation of saying to his colleague- "he told me it was in brand new condition, so no i'm not offering any more". This was incredibly insulting- why would I say an 84,000 mile car is in brand new condition. To lie like that in front of his sales rep should have been the red flag to abort the deal, but this was the first time I had met him in person. All previous dealings were via whatsapp.
Lastly, this place is painfully reluctant to give their complaints procedure or managers email address and then don’t reply to the complaints email address anyway.
3 months have passed since this transaction and I'm still working with the finance company to sort this. I will have to take this up with the ombudsman next otherwise.
Silverlink - Underhand and Dishonest
If you are unfortunate enough to have dealings with the Silverlink branch, do not believe a word the sales team say. Make sure you have everything in writing. Do not believe any verbal promises, as I did, which has left me considerably out of pocket. I wish I had researched more thoroughly before visiting this garage. They have been underhand and dishonest - a modern day Fagin and co. I don’t think these reviews are read as it is clear my experience has been repeated several times since I purchased in January.
Excellent from start to finish
Excellent from start to finish. Hannah was brilliant , sorted a great deal for us and when our car wasn't ready she gave us a courtesy car and arranged for herself to deliver our new car down to us a few days afterwards, wow never had that before. Very friendly and exceptionally helpful we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
We would definitely recommend Richard Hardie Ashington for your next car.
Avoid Avoid Avoid
Avoid Avoid Avoid, Richard Hardie Ashington..if i could give zero stars i would. Too many problems with a new vehicle to go into depth. Happy to take your money, but Kevin in after sales would not entertain any problems with the vehicle, he dismisses everything as normal. Hannah the sales manager is no better. Read all reviews before you part with any money!!
Avoid this place at all costs!
I purchased a vehicle from Richard Hardie in late July 2026, and the entire experience has been a complete nightmare.
Within days of taking delivery, multiple significant issues became apparent, including knocking suspension noise, air conditioning failure, flickering headlights, and substandard bodywork repairs.
When I formally exercised my statutory right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, aftercare and customer support completely collapsed. Rather than taking responsibility or offering a courtesy vehicle, the dealership stonewalled the issue, forcing me to take the matter directly to the finance provider (Stellantis Financial Services).
To make matters worse, upon checking the DVLA records, the last V5C (logbook) issue date is 9th July 2026—meaning Richard Hardie failed to even process the basic DVLA ownership transfer when handing over the vehicle.
Because of their refusal to resolve this, the vehicle now sits parked on my driveway unusable under instructions while the finance dispute is investigated. My wife is a registered Blue Badge holder who suffers from a chronic illness, and being left stranded without working transport has caused severe daily hardship, missed medical appointments, and unnecessary financial stress for our family.
A dealership that hands over faulty vehicles, fails basic DVLA paperwork, and abandons customers the moment something goes wrong should be avoided at all costs.
always check reviews first
Would not recommend this this company. went to look for a new car it was not valeted to a good standard and few scratches and alloy damage, I am glad I checked reviews after as I now know to stay away from this place and hope others do to based on what others have went through.
Unethical team of people
They took a deposit to reserve a car and phoned me and let me know that they did a mistake and the new price is higher than the agreed price. Now one month past still I am waiting for refund. Unethical team of people working in this place at Newcastle silver link branch.
Silverlink - worst experience ever!
STAY CLEAR!! I've had the worst experience ever with the Silverlink branch. I've had some poor customer service but they set the bar for not caring!
I bought my used MG in January and went back within 2 days when I started hearing some odd noises coming from the car. I was told that I had to take the car to Arnold Clark because RH Silverlink couldnt work on it. I was surprised when I received a £160 bill from AC for the initial diagnostics. The repair bill for the car was quoted as £1100!!
I then tried to return the car to Richard Hardie for a refund but they then stated they didnt trust the diagnostics from the A/Clark garage they sent me to. I had to deal with MG directly and ask for further info from Arnold Clark before RH took this seriously and offered to repair the car & refund the money I paid for diagnostics. They did apologise for fobbing me off when I came in with the initial issue too.
The refund they offered took 8 months and 15+ emails to actually get the money back from them! They simply don't care after they sell you a car. They will tell you anything to get shot of you. Their complaints address is a black hole - you will not get a reply!
Also, give up hope if you have to deal with their aftersales manager Paul Taylor.
AVOID!! DO NOT BUY FROM HERE.
I bought a car from this company and, on the drive home, it immediately didn’t feel right. The clutch was clicking, there was a strange noise when pulling away, the brakes were grinding, and there was a knocking from the suspension.
I contacted them the following day but was told they were too busy and it would be around two weeks before they could look at it. I called again the next day because I wasn’t prepared to accept a car that didn’t feel right and managed to get it inspected. They lubricated the clutch and fixed the clicking, but told me the noise when pulling away was “common”, the brakes were fine and the suspension knocking was simply age-related.
I still wasn’t convinced this was how the car should feel, so I contacted the manager, arranged to drop the car off and was given a courtesy car while they assessed it. The following week I was told the car needed a new brake calliper and that the suspension knocking had been fixed. I had not authorised these repairs, yet they went ahead anyway.
I then formally complained and exercised my right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act, as these faults had been present from day one. The whole process took around 8 weeks. The garage arranged an independent inspection, which concluded the car was fine — hardly surprising when the garage had already repaired the issues I had complained about. The finance company ultimately sided with the garage and, in my opinion, failed to properly consider several of the points I had raised.
When I got the car back, the brakes were still grinding.
I eventually sold the car to another company. During their inspection, they told me the brake discs and pads needed replacing, which explained the grinding and why the brakes never felt right. They also identified that the clutch was on its way out.
My experience has been extremely frustrating from start to finish. I would strongly recommend anyone considering buying from this company to do their own thorough checks and be very careful about relying solely on the garage’s inspection or the finance company’s handling of a complaint.
Based on my experience, I would not buy another car from this company or use their associated finance options again.
I would never recommend anyone to…
I would never recommend anyone to Richard Hardie. I paid a £250 refundable holding deposit to view a car. When presented with the car, it had multiple scratches on it. I was very clear that I would not pay asking price for this car with these scratches. The salesman said he would see what he could do about these but could not promise the dent in the bumper could be fixed. I said I would not be paying asking price when he could not guarantee he would get this dent out. My partner reiterated this and the salesman responded, " that's not how it works". I found this excessively rude and condescending towards my partner as why would we want to pay full price for a car that is not reflective of the advertised price. I cannot say this experience was an enjoyable one at all. He also stated he needed rid of the car by the end of the month, something I consider unprofessional and desperate. Before even attending the car viewing, I had communication with this salesman over Whatsapp. Upon confirmation of my appointment, he had added an 'x' at the end of the message, something I consider to be inappropriate and unnecessary for a professional encounter.
I did not want the car. The salesman said he would process the refund, this did not come back to me. I rang and said I had not received it so the man on the phone checked my bank details and said it would be with me in 2-4 working days. This did not happen. I rang again and asked to speak to management. I was told he was in a meeting, took my name and number and said he would ring back later. I received nothing. I also wrote a formal complaint which has not been acknowledged.
I had to go through my bank in the end to receive my £250 refundable holding deposit. The service is absolutely disgraceful and far from professional and satisfactory.
Dont make the mistake of buying from…
Dont make the mistake of buying from this company. Over paid for a car, which was my choice. The after service doesnt exist. The first alarm bell was the salesman slagging off one of his colleagues, but I still decided to buy the car anyway. The salesman I dealt with was very prompt to respond to my emails, before buying the car, and now that I have a query, he doesnt respond to my emails. I will be escalating this with the head office next week. In all honesty, I overpaid, even after a small discount, thus I dont think they are good value either. Stay away from this company, as they dont care about after service.
Absolutely disgusting…
Absolutely disgusting… should have walked away when we had to stand in showroom with numerous sales men walking by as if we were invisible.
Once we were seen to, total lack of customer service.
After asking if they had a coffee machine instead of being offered one! We were putting an order in for a brand new car!
Should’ve walked away…
No communication, no direct email given. No phone calls back - only communication was via TIK TOK!!!???
After this total unprofessionalism we requested to cancel order and our refundable deposit back… this was put into writing to the Sales Manager and low and behold no response or communication!!
Absolutely terrible… keep well away!
Faulty vehicle. No accountable
Sold us a faulty vehicle and will not take accountability. Having to go through the bank with a complaint to try and get rid of the vehicle. Save yourself the stress and do not shop here.
This visit was great experience

Worse experience in the last 50years of…
Worse experience in the last 50years of buying vehicles, went for deal ,said we don't like doing Aion V deals ,go for hp deal not up front , said no we want up front paid deposit. Left garage, phone call knocked back, they pushed hp payment way said company didn't want to make me poor, after proved deposit come from and prove how we can make final payment.
So insist hp ask hp interest over the phone ,no sense so drove back up garage with pocket full of money, ask 3 times interest charges , because Aion was doing 2.9% and no answer, kept saying, information not coming through,by that time the car was in my name and regestard, manager kept saying your paying it of in two years, you got the money in your hand .
When the welcome pack came in 13.4% on £23.224 I'm paying £10.000 interest , that's 25 %of the car ,we have complained to Aion , but it the Garage who never stuck to the letter of the law and defently not the spirit.
He knows I would not pay 13.4% so never answered any questions and called me a liar , saying he told me all the figures in black and white, so I'm over the moon with the car , the sales men, even the service department, but definitely not the manager,I do hope a director reads this and we can sit down and talk like gentlemen I even said to Aion , them.tbe garage and us sit down and talk because, do not like been called a liar and I do have a card up my sleeve if we all was in the room together. We have ask the manager to send us a final letter we aren't doing out for the financial Ombudsman which he seams to be a bit reluctant, said we deal with them direct ,we yes once we put the letter in , not happy been mislead, we have been honest all along , all they wanted to do is sell the first car
Amazing experience dealing with Georgia…
Amazing experience dealing with Georgia at Richard Hardie Ashington, these guys don't get the credit they deserve with these bad reviews. They have a new manager who is brilliant and the whole process was seamless. Drove my new car away last week, Georgia has called twice to make sure I was ok with the controls and if I had any questions, and Hannah the manager called to make sure everything was ok with how my experience was too!
Don't believe what you read online for these guys, I had a 10/10 experience and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Great service from the Fiat team at…
Great service from the Fiat team at Richard Hardie Silverlink today. My daughter’s Fiat 500 was booked in for a service and MOT. Staff were friendly, professional and kept me informed on the service and work required; also I was very happy with cost vs other non-Fiat dealers, they were very competitive. I would highly recommend 👏👏👏

I bought a 2020 MG ZS from Richard…
I bought a 2020 MG ZS from Richard Hardie Ashington through sales person G in May 2026. I had received a call from a finance broker who approved finance for a new car. I was told I had to get it all signed off then could go and collect the car. I had not even seen it yet! I then called my current car finance before collecting the new car only to find out the previous settlement value they had given me was wrong and I need to pay £1017 for it so I called Richard Hardie Ashington and was put onto the sales person G to cancel the sale. I was then called by the Sales Manager H who said they would pay me a cash back payment to pay off my old car! I was astounded and said I could only take the new car if I got the cash back. G then said it is paid within 7- 10 working days so I picked up the car on Friday 15 May. It had a squeaky clutch and needed a boot cover which she sorted on the Monday directly after the Friday I collected the car, albeit with no clips for it to actually work which she just forgot to tell me or fix. Another employee told me there are boxes of these lying about so G just didn't care to fix it properly. I asked G about the manufacturer's warranty, she put me onto someone else who printed it, it showed only 3 services in 5 years so no full service history as I was told. I then emailed H who sent me the full history which showed the last service was done May 2026, previous service March 2025 so 14 months later. Warranty states all services must be done within 12 months to be valid so I had to query this yet again! H emailed back saying there is no 14 month gap??! Mar 25 to May 26 is 14 months, I can count. I explained that I was currently sitting with a car I had bought from another dealer and it had broken the day after getting it and the so called manufacturers warranty was a lie so I was checking to ensure the manufacturer's warranty the car had been sold with was valid. She then said they validate the warranties as they are a MG dealership. So I guess the 14 months between the last 2 services does not matter then? It has not been clarified by H to date, 3 weeks later.
After 24 days of no cashback arriving, I have called and emailed, not once shouted or sworn and have been ignored by H for days between emails, had the phone put down in my ear by G and still no answers about my cash back which I told them when I called to cancel the car purchase and they offered the cash back that I had to pay my old car by 1 June and was told it takes 7-10 working days, plenty of time! I was later told that because I took the car back to get the car boot cover and clutch sorted, it was my fault the cash back was late. This was done the following working day and G physically took my file off her desk and placed it in the front office and said that is done now the cash back can be paid so there was zero delay caused by me never mind the fact they sold me a half dirty car with no boot cover or clips and a squeaky clutch! The amount of income lost while trying to sort this and having to pay storage for my old car is ridiculous! I now sit with 2 cars on finance as a single, unpartnered mother and will have my credit score ruined as I cannot pay for both. I am beyond words for Sales staff of any company that act in this way! After calling back, J answered and what a lovely person. He listened to my story, yet told me the staff have no way of knowing how long it takes because the Directors deal with the payment authorisations. Had G said this - I would never have bought the car! I have resorted to emailing the owner this morning but still no response. As a 55 year old woman, I am shocked, feel totally bullied and feel I was promised a cash back to con me into a sale because I have not been told whether the cash back will even materialise or not and H has ignored answering this question along with trying to tell me about March 2025 to May 2026 not being 14 months between services! I have been in sales for 30 years and never in my wildest dreams would I think a company can get away with this kind of behaviour! I wish I had read all the negative reviews on Trustpilot before going there!
Update: No replies to emails and called in to be told by another sales person that their legal team will contact me so obviously no cash back is coming and im now stuck with 2 cars. I am beyond shocked.
Would seriously get rid of the sales…
Would seriously get rid of the sales manager at Silverlink, knowingly bringing back fraudulent people back!
Rude, hostile vile
