Felt like I was being set up to spend more than I needed to
I went for a tyre check up and was told basically I needed four tyres because replacing the front one with a different brand to the other would cause issues. The back tyre was found to have a small nail in which was removed without my permission and I was told the same thing. That tyre is still at full pressure and no visible issues almost a week later. I asked for them to email all of what they recommended with a quote for the tyres and I have received nothing. As a woman going into tyre shops you are vulnerable and I felt like I had to make a decision there and then, which I didn't want to. Not great overall and left me with a bad taste in my mouth.

Very impressive and quality service
I contacted Protyre at Colchester and spoke with Jake, a very polite and helpful person who invited me to call in at the workshop. I went along a short while later and met Jake who examined my front tyres and confidently identified a tyre that was out of shape. Having given me various options he booked my car in two days later for the front tyres to be replaced. Throughout he explained everything to me in an extremely polite, confident, and professional manner. He really was very impressive.
I duly attended again at the appointed time to have the tyres changed and was greeted with civility and professionalism. With employees the likes of Jake, Protyre’s continued success is assured. I hope his managers and hierarchy appreciate the quality of service he provides.

Fitted 4 new tyres and did not put the correct pressure into the rear tyres meaning I had to go back to have this rectified due to warning lights on the dashboard stating an issue.

Unusually, not so good on this occasion
I’ve used Protyre Colchester on and off for years, but my latest experience wasn’t so great - perhaps because of being understaffed at holiday time. Long and short of it I was overcharged and they forgot to fit the new tyre I’d been billed for.
The young lady on reception sorted as necessary and was very apologetic.
I will use them again as this seemed to be a one-off.

Went for a simple re gas of air con
Went for a simple re gas of air con, left the car with them for 1 hour. When I returned I was informed that the re gas has been completed but the car requires a new air con compressor and/or switch. I was quoted nearly £1000 for this, I said I would like a 2nd opinion from a mechanic that I normally use. I got this 2nd opinion and it was confirmed that nothing is wrong with the compressor or switch. It appears that this company were trying to pull a fast one. I would not trust this company with my car ever again!!!

The services and MOTs carried out on my car are very good. The staff are very helpful and professional, that is why I always use Protyre even though it is a bit of a journey away. Worth it though.

Tyres Fitted Wrongly.
Bought 2 front tyres from Protyre after my car failed it's MOT test for damaged tyres. Took the car for retest and failed again on front tyres! They were directional tyres and both had been wrongly fitted. Went back to Protyre and they wouldn't deal with it that day. Had to rebook for the following day.

Decent service but using a Groupon voucher added avoidable complications
I took advantage of a Groupon voucher offer for a Air Con gas recharge and pollen filter replacement, which offered a good price. I called the centre to make the related appointment. When I arrived I was advised that the timing was incorrect and that that the filter had not been ordered, so an overall potential delay of a couple of hours. I left the car and arranged a lift back home. I received a call from the centre to advise that the Protyre website reflected the incorrect gas required for the recharge - this meant a price increase for the correct gas and the need for me to cancel the Groupon voucher and purchase another (for the correct gas) - Groupon process was very simple. I was called to advise car was ready for collection - I asked for paperwork to confirm work done but was advised this was not normally provided when a Groupon voucher was used. I was given a copy of a document issued to Groupon, which provides the basics of what I needed. Overall, a decent service provided but using a Groupon voucher and the confusion of the gas type added avoidable complications.

Tyres fitted
I had 4 tyres fitted about 7 months ago thru black circles. The service was all fine but then I had an MOT done at my regular place 5 months later, who failed my MOT as 2 of the tyres were fitted backwards! They rectified it and then passed me which i had to pay for, albeit it wasn’t a big charge but i do wonder about the safety implications of driving around for 5 months like that. Those who might say oh you should’ve checked them when they were fitted, well I am no tyre expert hence paying and getting new tyres fitted by ‘professionals’ and trusting they did their job.
Needless to say I won’t be using them again.

Overall you provided a good service…
Overall you provided a good service especially, when a warning light came up on the dashboard when driving away, you made sure every thing was OK and got the said warning light removed. However I was a little disappointed when I asked for the new rear tyres/ wheels to be swopped with the front ones, to be asked for a sixty pound fee? I would have thought with the vehicle already up on the hoist and the power tools that you use, it would have taken a matter of minutes to swop the over!
