What made the experience great was… friends and activities
What made the experience great was making new friends and having real connections with everyone there. The activities were also very fun to take part in especially as the workers there allowed us to do most tasks ourselves and letting us figure things out instead of helping constantly and telling us how to do everything. It’s also nice to be treated like an adult, the people who worked at Taricaya respected us so we of course respected them too. We all trusted each other as well which made completing tasks so much more fun and simple, it’s important to remember it’s everyone’s first time there too or is most likely there first time. So don’t feel as if you are a stranger at the site because you’re not, everyone is experiencing this amazing opportunity together and make the most of it.

i did the medical internship project in…
i did the medical internship project in the philippines and it was the best experience ever. i am so much more experienced due to all of the medical work i had observed and did. the whole trip itself was amazing and i enjoyed every part of it. the staff were all so lovely and very helpful if needing anything. the weekend trip away was so great to have a break and relax. it was so so great and definitely worth going

My experience was very good
My experience was very good, the staff were all friendly and listened to feedback that the volunteers had. Although there was times where we were sat around, I still learnt a lot from the doctors and midwives. I enjoyed learning about the culture of the Philippines and seeing the difference in healthcare compared to my home country. The other volunteers I met and the activities that we did each day made my experience unforgettable.

We couldn’t have asked or wished for more
An amazing experience. It was my intention to do a volunteering project with my grandson so he better understood how lucky he is in the world however he gained so much more from our stay at Nawai Village in Fiji. He learned so much about living a simple life, that happiness is in those around you and that richness is not defined by money. Along with that he was immersed in Fijian culture and thrived in it.
The process with Project Abroad from our first enquiry to the on the ground support staff was fantastic, couldn’t fault a thing. The team are great communicators and systems make the process easy. Even the late change to our village destination didn’t interrupt our program. A perfect experience all the way through.

Mit Projects Abroad in Heredia
Es war eine ganz tolle Erfahrung. Von Anfang an mit Katia, später auch mit Jeni betr. Flug wurde ich gut betreut. Erster Video Call mit Jessica stimmte mich sehr positiv. Vorort, der Chauffeur stand bereit. Bei der Gastfamilie Maritza war es ein herzlicher Empfang. Monse nahm sich so sehr Zeit mir alles zu zeigen. Genau so erfreulich der Kontakt mit Natalia in der Schule Fatima und dann noch in der Guarderia und Team.
Es traf alles so zu, wie es im Vorfeld informiert wurde.

DO NOT USE PROJECTS ABROAD!!!
I did the Spain premed program and it was NOT what was told to us. We didn’t even shadow real doctors. My group and I had to go to doctors ourselves and beg them to let us shadow them. We had an emergency situation and we couldn’t get in contact with them for hours and when they finally answered they put us on hold for half an hour. You will lose out on opportunities if you don’t speak Spanish cause they don’t provided and interpreter like the promised. Your itinerary and host family details won’t be posted 1 month in advance, it’ll be posted 2 days in advance. Your host may not speak English and you won’t be informed about that.
I had an awful experience.
Waste of money!! Use anyone else! Don’t use projects abroad!!
They did not change the itinerary the second week. We were sent to a private clinic who didn’t know we were coming majority of the time and we sat around for hours.
We got to see surgeries because we asked a doctor on our own if we could shadow her…nothing to do with projects abroad.

We’re really sorry you left the programme feeling so disappointed. Following your complaint, we carried out a detailed review of the programme, the information provided before departure, the itinerary and the concerns you raised.
While we recognise that some aspects of the experience and communication could have been better, our review did not find that the programme was misrepresented or that the core programme described was not provided. The programme is designed to give students broad exposure to medicine and healthcare, but particular specialities or departments cannot be guaranteed, as clinical access depends on the availability of local medical professionals and healthcare providers.
When you asked for additional clinical exposure, we quickly adapted the second week of the programme to include a wider range of medical specialities, including surgery.
We do, however, take your concerns about the timing of some pre-departure information and language support seriously. We have identified areas where the programme and communications can be strengthened, and are taking those lessons forward for future participants.
We have responded to your complaint in full privately and do not think it would be appropriate to discuss individual details further in a public forum. We are nevertheless sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations and appreciate the feedback you have provided.
The Projects Abroad Team
Do not exchange this experience for anything else. Not even a regular holiday.
The staff were genuinely so caring, supportive and loving.
I chose the monthly stay and it was truly inspirational. My host family were welcoming and easily adaptable to our needs; they often ensured that everything was okey for all volunteers staying with them and prioritised clear communication.
The staff members became my temporary parents. I had no fear with discussing personal situations with them and they would do everything in their power to help me.
I also was fascinated by all the stories each volunteer would bring to the table at meal times. I didn’t know it then but I have made life long friends that are based all over the world.
I was participating in the care program which required me to aid in public schools. The 3 year olds puts smiles on my face, even when they made so much noise my head started throbbing.
The day that I said my goodbyes to everyone who had surrounded me that month I could not contain my tears and the overwhelming emotion that I felt knowing these people had changed my life in such a way I will never forget.
I understand many people say this but it experience has altered my life for the better and I would recommend this experience to anyone who has a chance to participate. I will be going back the second a have a chance.

the most rewarding experience
I went on the high school specials in Fiji for community and volunteer work. The program was beautifuly organised and I felt very at home. The host family were kind and caring in everything that they did and continuously provided support. The mornings we spent with the children were incredible and their teacher was so kind and willing. Afternoon we spent time painting a church fence which also felt very rewarding. It truly is a life changing experience and I would recommend it to anyone. You meet lifelong friends and learn things about yourself you’d never know. Please consider putting yourself out there and doing projects abroad.

Went to the galapagos islands to help with conservation! It was amazing and I had a great time despite the relatively hard work we were doing. we had a lot of free time to explore and the beaches were incredible. I felt like I was doing something to help the cause !

Projects Abroad exceeded our already high expectations!
I’m a sixth form college teacher and used Projects Abroad to provide an immersive experience in Tanzania for 39 students. We worked in a rural Maasai primary school and had the most amazing time. The Projects Abroad teams both in Tanzania and the UK were so thorough and effective. I strongly recommend this organisation and will be using them again for certain.

The staff was very friendly and the host family was amazing they were so friendly and welcoming. The staff was very knowledgeable on everything and make sure you were safe. The host family was very welcoming and made sure you had everything you needed. They also went out of their way to make sure you felt comfortable and even with the language barrier they were still very easy to talk to.

Such an Amazing Trip
Projects abroad did an amazing job of integrating fun, project involvement, and cultural education. The staff was incredible and so kind. My host family was so welcoming and so incredibly wonderful and kind. I would love to join another projects abroad project because of how much fun I had on this one. I’m already an emotional person, but saying goodbye to the staff, country, and people whom I had grown such strong bonds with in just two weeks was so hard. This trip will live in my heart forever and I will forever carry the memories with me.
