northern power grid "our website is robust" when the power went off AGAIN on Sat for storm Malik(only 7 weeks after it went off for the days the last time) the website by 5.30 told you you were in a queue and then after waiting for 20mins at times, said you were at the front then threw you out to start all over again-(we had to drive 10 miles to get an internet signal! For this rubbish)Robust ...my foot!
Northern Power grids sent one email to keep us "updated"-it didn't tell us anything just told us how many people they had reconnected-smashing(as we sat in 9degrees) no reply facility on the email obvs WE HAD NO INTERNET, we couldn't see the email or your twitter or your useless power cut map !
Northern Power said "we're sending a van to give food"(day 3!) "it'll be there 1-3"people were at the village hall, wandering round the back of the petrol station hunting for the elusive van- 1.15pm folk got fed up wandering the village looking for it and drove in convoy to a fast food joint!
look, storms happen we're an understanding bunch, but we pay through the nose for electricity to heat/cook on etc (no gas lines for us!)and yet it seems to be as robust as a set of fairy lights-put some money into the infrastructure so people are not sitting freezing not knowing what's' going on for days and weeks

Power went off again Saturday due to new storm, I am classed as a priority customer but can never speak to any one. I received a text the power would be on by 11am 4pm it came on but no contact after first text, I know some householders are worse off. All I expect is communication. I was informed my area wasn't even on the map showing the areas off we obviously don't exist and can't even inform them because no one answers the phone. I then get three phone calls on Sunday evening first from a human asking if power on I would have thought she should know this!!! Second a computer call which I hung up then another computer informing me I still had no power and should seek alternative accommodation which they will pay for, obviously no communication with first call. This company is inept and a joke!!!!!

Power cut this morning 3.30 reported called back and had a man out to us before 5 electric back on by 8.30 great job.

Discovered we had no electricity on Christmas Eve morning. Phoned at 7.30am, Engineer arrived within 2 hours, identified problem with connection in street. By afternoon the road had been closed, dug up, connection repaired and we were back online. Well done Northern Powergrid.

I have lost 2 days wages waiting in for Northern Powergrid to turn up and do the job we paid them to do (Disconnection) losing money and now any faith that this company should be allowed to run any planned works! They outsource to companies that just do not turn up and do not let you know until the day they are supposed to arrive! I want my money back and appologies for 2 days loss of wages they have cost me!!
Possibly the worst customer experience…
Possibly the worst customer experience I have encountered. Constantly on hold waiting for an advisor and loads of calls being clicked then dropped back into queue so that it takes 1 hour nearly every time before you speak to anyone. Even when you get through the advice is inconsistent and no timescale given for when issue will be resolved. Had no electric now for over 48 hours and I live in a residential town centre street so not exactly out in the wilds. I am being held hostage by the fact that a water leak in an adjoining property has meant there electric has been shut off till repairs to make it safe and this absolutely rubbish power grid company keeps saying that my supply cannot be reconnected (some rubbish about looped supply) even though there is a separate armoured wire to my property and no water issues in my property. Asked for loop to be removed and still waiting for engineers to attend. Poor poor poor indifferent service leaving me sitting in cold and constantly recharging phone in car only to wait another hour in call queue. Pathetic. As I write this been in call queue again for 1 hour 15 minutes

I keep getting texts that I didn’t sign up to and I’m not interested at all in what the texts say. I have mental health issues and neuro developmental disorders and it’s VERY stressful getting texts I don’t want every couple of hours. I want quiet only give my phone number to family in case of emergencies and northern power grid is not an emergency to me. I really couldn’t care less about the power or the effect this random storm that I’ve never heard of has on it. Please remove my number .

In this day and age and the millions they make , put up stronger power posts ! Start spending some of the millions you make out of the tax payers and up date the system...... start up dating it’s not rocket science , I’m sure they will come up with some excuse . And all effected should get a large compensation they have just spent the best part of 2 years isolated now they have no way of general living disgusting

Had a new connection
Had a new connection, the communication was shocking from the beginning till the end. But we had no choice since they are the only distributor in the region. Very disappointed about the quality of their service against the cost of the work. Can't say to suggest separate supplier, but wish you all the best if you do need to handle them.
The only one star I gave is to the 2 people who I spoke to from their customer service end, they were nice and helpful to chase communication with the coordinator since I had little communication on what was going on from my coordinator all the way through.

This company is the worst not only did our power grout Friday along with everybody else’s due to storm Arwen They continually ignore us and we are now on late Tuesday afternoon power still off and they are now trying to swerve the legal liability and responsibility by trying to tell us that the power went out on the Sunday 28th after a car struck the lamppost even though the car did knock knock the lamppost over and the cable is still attached.
The repeatedly ignore all our messages and plea for help we’ve all been freezing cold since Friday with no hot water no Hot food and no power.
These people are despicable with their lies and if they continue to try and swerve there responsibility towards us by lying about when the power went out they will become unstuck. I Along with everyone else in our neighbourhood have a catalogue of emails and text messages from them from Friday explaining that my power was out and will be restored within two hours it’s never happened but it is evidence that they are Blanton liars worst company ever. There will be a paper trail at their end they cannot ignore the fact that our power went out on the Friday and not the Sunday and they will be proven to be liars after having posted total nonsense online which has exposed their lies which there is no coming back from. Liars liars liars don’t mind taking our money but don’t want to have anything to do with you when you have a problem liars liars liars you will come unstuck

Brilliant Service!
We needed a supply cable moved during a basement conversion which involved shutting off electricity to a number of our neighbours while the job was done. I spoke to a number of the team to organise the job and all were so helpful. The job was done quickly and efficiently,all the guys were really polite,and tidied up afterwards. Brilliant service - thank you!

I have had an absolute nightmare at the front end of my application process which started life as a service alteration, following 2 site surveys suggesting that would happen Northern Powergrid decided that wouldn’t be happening and instead it was New Connection (June 2020) since then I have been given miss information after miss information culminating in my connection finally taking place November 2021 around 4 months after I made the payment of £4,800!!
I have saved the best but until last…based on my own judgement I chose to route 125mm ducting over 100 metres into my site to cover me in case I wanted to choose 3 phase instead of standard 38mm and on the day NP installed a three phase cable 35mm thick which would have never gone through standard ducting making my ground works a waste of time!!
I have formally complained to NP regarding my treatment and as much as they agreed things had gone wrong they made me an offer of £300 compensation which is the biggest insult ever?
Now all of my video footage and email trails are heading to the ombudsman and power regulator to see what they make of this whole debacle
Thank You Northern Powergrid for living into my opinion of “if you don’t expect a lot” your not going to be disappointed

Excellent customer services this morning on the telephone. Easy to find a contact number via google, spoke to a very pleasant, efficient and knowledgeable lady, my query was answered readily and appropriately and an engineer booked within 1 week. Very happy with this service today.

DISGUSTING customer service. The woman I spoke to was vile! Didnt give a crap about us or the fact we have a baby who needs feeding and without power for over 3 hours. Absolute DISGRACE!!!

Absolutely horrendous experience, certain manager not replying to emails, producing voltage higher than the threshold and ignoring it. The list is endless, it won't be long until all our appliances stop working.
