One Of The Longest Standing Providers Of Online RYA Theory Courses! Prioritising Knowledge and Safety - At Navathome, our priority is the quality of the tuition and the knowledge gained. While passing and obtaining a certification is commendable, it is the depth of understanding that truly matters. As a skipper, you have significant responsibility for the safety of those on board, whether they are your family, friends, or both. That's why we ensure that you acquire the necessary skills to navigate the seas safely, and with confidence. Our Journey...- After previously running a charter company and training academy from 1999, we realised there was a way we could improve the learning experience for RYA Theory Courses. In 2005, we made the decision to develop an online Day Skipper theory course and sought approval from the RYA. After our course material was reviewed by Mike Diamond and Chris Slade, RYA examiners of examiners, we embarked on writing the Coastal Skipper and Ocean Yachtmaster online theory courses. We dedicated months to developing ocean animations, and worked tirelessly on the weather and passage making modules. Eventually, we completed the course, and it exceeded our expectations. Today, we continue to improve our current range of courses, keeping them in line with current RYA standards and quality requirements, while also bringing out our own range of Navathome Theory Courses, like the “Diesel Engine Course” and “Basic Training” courses. Our Success Is In Your Success! - Now, with over 20,000 students and counting, we have established ourselves as a trusted provider of maritime education, both with RYA courses, and our own range of high-quality courses aiming to make you a better skipper, boat owner, or commercial crew. We take pride in our achievement of receiving the highest rating among online training schools, with over 2,500 5-star reviews on TrustPilot. Our commitment to delivering top-quality training and ensuring our students' success, has earned us a reputation for excellence in the industry.

Excellent Course
The quality of the coursework was of a high standard and my assessor had excellent knowledge of the subject and was extremely helpful.
I have had a great, sometimes challenging time, working through this course but it has all been worthwhile.

Day Skipper Theory Course
Day Skipper Theory Course - easy to book and course structured well with very good content. Easy to follow at your own pace. The online assessment was good and the feedback from the assessment was excellent. The assessor asked me to take a look at a couple of questions where I’d made charting errors and then she reviewed photos and explanations of my corrected charts and gave helpful feedback. Would recommend.

The content of the dayskipper course was clear, precise and thorough, although there is a lot of information to digest. Staff is extremely helpful and does reply very quickly to any questions. Highly recommended for those who are eager to learn how to sail.

Plenty of exercises for chartwork, and absolute accuracy is required in answers. This course takes a long time to complete all the exercises, and that's a good thing!

Essential course materials never received and disappointing resolution
I paid £275 for NavAtHome’s online RYA Day Skipper theory course. Although I received access to the online course, I never received the physical theory pack containing the training charts, almanac, exercises, plotter and dividers. These materials are essential for completing the navigation exercises properly.
I accept that I did not report the missing pack immediately. I run a business and had not yet started the course, so I only became aware that it had not arrived when I finally had time to begin studying. However, I do not believe this changes the basic issue that I paid for materials which I did not receive.
When NavAtHome contacted DHL, DHL was unable to confirm the actual delivery location from the GPS coordinates. There was no delivery photograph, and DHL stated that it could not guarantee where the parcel had been delivered. At one stage, a different address was also referred to during the investigation, which caused further concern.
Despite there being no clear proof that the pack was delivered to my home, NavAtHome relied on its condition requiring non-delivery to be reported within 14 days and told me I would have to pay for another theory pack.
I found this response extremely disappointing. I was not asking for a refund or anything additional; I simply wanted the essential materials included in the course I had already purchased so that I could complete it. In my view, where the courier cannot establish where a parcel was delivered, the customer should not automatically be expected to bear the full cost of replacing it.
The staff did reply politely and contacted DHL, but the eventual outcome left me unable to complete the course unless I paid more money. Based on my experience, I would advise prospective students to check immediately that every part of the course package has arrived and to report anything missing straight away.

Odpowiedź od Navathome.com RYA online training
Hi Mark, Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We do appreciate your frustration with having not received your course theory pack and please be assured that we have made every effort on our part to conduct an investigation into the location of the missing items.
Given that your order was placed in January and the issue was not reported to us until May, there was very little in the way that DHL could do to conduct a thorough investigation after such a significant time delay.
As you have pointed out; DHL did refer to a different address in their correspondence however, this related to the same area coordinates as your own address and after nearly five months after having delivered the items, it was not possible and quite unrealistic for them to retrace the route and drop off point which their driver made to achieve greater accuracy.
The DHL policy is that issues such as this should be raised within a reasonable time period of 30 days. Our own policy is that we should be advised within 14 days. Within this time period, a more thorough investigation could have been conducted and we could also have provided you with a replacement theory pack.
As part of our initial correspondence with all newly enrolled students, we do always ask for the theory pack contents and receipt of the course registration email to be confirmed for this very reason.
It is disappointing for us to receive such poor feedback as we do work hard to deliver a high quality standard of service. However, in this case, with the given circumstances and limitations, we are sorry that we were unable to provide the outcome which you had hoped for.
Best wishes from the Navathome Team
