I am a business representative and found negative reviews on this web-site with some inadequate reasons such as we are not ethical or we hacked some sites (?!!) thus I asked our customers to leave a few good reviews about our service. There were more than 20 positive reviews and then they removed them! Why? They didn't notified us! So I believe they just bribed by our competitors or wanted to get some money from us.
OMG I hope Google will ban them shortly!

Не самый безопасный сайт по мнению WOTа может оказаться со множеством положительных отзывов и оценок, а сайт, который действительно безопасен и достоин внимания - с самой низкой оценкой. Конечно, благодаря некоторым комментариям, можно почерпнуть полезную информацию для себя, но данному ресурсу не всегда стоит доверять.

Часто замечаю, что когда открываются различного рода проекты, тут же появляется куча негативных отзывов от одних и тех же. Хотя по факту за столь короткий промежуток времени(1-5 дней) невозможно дать 100% ответ о проекте спустя пару дней! Вывод, отзывы лишенные честности.
Также блокируют учетные записи по мифическим причинам. Заблокировали мой, объяснив это тем что у них есть подозрения, что якобы я использую несколько учетных записей - бред полнейший! 1 звезда для этого ресурса - это просто щедрый подарок!

Trusted website with my own experience, they controlling spammers on real time.

The idea is good but the actual site is nothing but a scam site. It allows moderators to take a site that is honest and claim it's RED - The site doesn't sell anything but vitamins and is a product that's been in business since the 1980's and sold in over 91 countries- yet even though it's sold in Australia to adults- they claim the site is DANGEROUS to children ( nothing adult sold - no nudity- nothing but vitamins and shampoo sold & no child products? ) when asking support- they then claim I slandered them all over the web- and that the red stands due to ädmin email" ? ! - also, they produced a huffington post article from 8 years ago - Huffington post is a site that has had an article AND photos of what appeared to be 13 or 14 year old girls in full frontal nude-( the article was talking about -" to shave or not to shave "- the girls maybe 15 - but they look 13 - I doubt they are anywhere near over 17 - I doubt it and it was a full frontal photo - and article regarding shaving in the lower area for young girls ! SURELY they'd get a red from wot ! but no- they used them as an example as to why they gave me a RED - a person who sells vitamins & shampoo !!!!! ) and they used Huffington Post , these people , to justify their comments????- the posts article was about Pyramid selling- claiming MLM ( like Avon products- multi level marketing) is pyramid selling - In fact - Pyramid selling is illegal because there's no product - no REAL product- and no Pyramid selling would last almost 40 years ? Not possible to last that long and in 91 countries- ( where it would be illegal in all those countries for all those years ) Vitamins and shampoo are products - so, claiming MLM and Pyramid selling are the same - is plain wrong. I bet they claim Avon is pyramid selling too - difference is I don't have to go door to door nor buy the products for demonstrations- they are vitamins ! (not perfume etc ) ALSO- the 6 who made the remarks are ( according to their mywot profiles) living in the UK & USA - not my customers - actual REAL customers, those who have bought the products left REAL green ratings- The MyWOT moderators used disgraceful bully tactics to justify their Troll like attitudes- ANYONE can JUSTIFY ANYTHING - I used to actually use myWOT and used them for a while and told others to use them BUT when I went to their forum and asked a question about my site - a member told me to remove the name of my site ( which I then did )- I was then accused by "superhero" of trying to hide & told nothing gets removed & I cannot hide from them - and then it started --- a not good rating ( which I questioned, as she wasn't a customer nor had even visited my shop or registered & she was from the UK - not Australia ) - THEN - one after another their mates left red or orange ratings.( with äs above"as the excuse for the review) ------ according to Google, I had ONE VISITOR THAT DAY - ONE - not 6 ! --- ON MY SITE : I have no adult material- no gambling- no nudity - no products for kids- at all- (NONE of the following FOR KIDS OR ADULTS - NONE - No Toys - No DVDs - No Music or No Games- No Kids products - NONE - at all ) I sell vitamins and beauty products for adults (in Australia) made in the USA from an American company that has been in business since the 1980's and sold over $5 billion on the New York Stock Exchange-(NYSE) they attacked me for the product and not my site - (they claimed) - they attacked my site claiming it's dangerous for children when I don't sell ANYTHING for kids- no photos of bikinis or skimpy models - VITAMINS - shampoo- conditioner- how is that dangerous to kids? When I asked, I got another Red rating !!!! Their "superhero" moderator told me "that'll teach you to have respect for us"( after I questioned how could anyone rate my site without even visiting it or being a customer? ) ----- THEN - I was offered to BUY MY SEAL - BUY RATINGS - BUY VOTES - (edit- P.S.) I was offered to become green by a member who said he was a platinum and had a few platinum IDs and could get me green - of course- this would cost me a lot of money - a lot! ( I never found out how much as his sites listings started at $1,500 USA dollars and I refuse to be blackmailed - which is what I call it when I'm told I can turn my site back to green by paying money ) I know the seal was around that much for a year - I believe the seal is renewable yearly. --- I believe this site is nothing but a scam & sham with the purpose of getting people to either buy seals or buy votes --- and I used to trust this site and believe they were doing good- until I actually got involved in them and asked a question- You don't have to believe me - try for yourself- go to their forums and ask about any site that you trust and have done business with- ask about them and watch - ALSO- have a look at the moderators profiles- note how many sites they "review"and note how many are reds - Look at how many are done in a day and ask yourself HOW could anyone review that many sites in one day - Check it out- It's not possible. It works out to be a lot of sites !!! And then think how many BUY their seals and how many pay for votes to get it back to green ! That's a lot ( have a look and you will soon see- I doubted every negative review about this company for ages- until it happened to me and I cannot understand HOW anyone can justify vitamins & shampoo for adults as being dangerous for kids- that's just plain wrong and they know it )

I have read WOT reviews before posting mine and I really found it funny how they quickly cried to their buddies and got them to post BS 5 star green rated reviews about how honest and trustworthy it is after an honest negative user experience. Can't take the heat hey? Boo-hoo cry babies. You see, when the truth really hurts, that's what people do. And now, my experience with Web of Garbage. My friend recently set up a website and I helped him submit this to WOG. Oops, WOT. Sorry. Actually I'm not, we'll just stick with WOG. If after this review they whine again to their buds or create fake accounts to post positive replies after then we'll just refer to them as WORGs (Web of Garbage and friends). The website was reviewed almost right away from what I have read are power users. And ofcourse all the reviews were negative because of this, and that - but the website had no issues of stated mentioned review comments. Few hours later, tons of fishy negative thumbs up supporting these negative reviews started popping up. Not one positive review about this really genre specific website. Ofcourse, they are sneaky and don't delete your submissions after you DELETE YOUR PROFILE when you realize you've stepped into a big pile of DOGSH*T and want to clean it off your boots. Needless to say, Web of Mistrust is complete waste of time. And it shows how many stupid Americans there are using it that don't have a clue what really is happening behind the scenes. WOT hides behind "well it's not us rating it - it's our users!" ... honestly, if all your users are retarted then you need to take this site down. I am stating my honest review and any attacks resulting from this will result in maniacal laughter.

This site is run by admins in Finland and all the users are just little computer rats that don't know much of anything. To be honest I don't know why anyone uses the site because it really doesn't help with anything online. Has the worst security itself and says it is it knows about scams and scam sites. Its just a forum of normal people grading websites and has no professionalism.

The idea is great for MyWot and I'm sure at one time someone was doing the right thing, but it seems that the people running it have become rather power hungry and abuse the system.

You can find many sites that are considered poor and not safe for children that are perfectly fine but someone decided they didn't like the site and went after it. In their forums, you can find many posts where the admins are telling the users that they need to 'rate a site down'.

In some instances they are claiming people are buying reviews, but it seems like it would make more sense to do as Yelp & Google do to just remove that review. The fact that they have an extension that some people trust which will give them misinformation claiming that a site is not safe, it gives one the impression that the site is loaded with malware when it just made someone at MyWot angry for some reason.

Sadly, this the kind of site that gives legitimate ones like Trust Pilot a bad name since they are abusing a system and more people have realized as a simple search in Google shows how their trust has deteriorated. Hopefully the owner will eventually find their way back to their original idea.

There are many sites that have 9 or 10 great reviews and one bad review but they are considered poor or not trustworthy because the review came from a MyWot admin. They state they are an aggregate reviewer, but unlike Rotten Tomatoes, one bad review on their site can knock 9 great reviews.

I've been using WOT for few month by now.
First time I did like the idea - to easily express your opinion about some website.
Later I started knowing things about them.
They have some so called "platinum" users who can downvote hundreds of websites same time without even looking at them!!!
The ratings of websites are ridiculous - I've seen porno/warez/scam etc websites with perfectly green rating!! And good, honest, legitimate websites downvoted to red.
Yes, sometimes, some rare times it helps as early warning for some scam sites so i've been using it.
And some day, trying to access my account I got message that my account was blocked for some bogus suspicion of multiple accounts, which I obviously didn't do.
I tried to contact their support to fix it for 3 times over a week. They didn't even bothered to answer!!!
That's how they do - use you to rate websites and then just get rid of you!!
Don't go for this scam!

They let the moderators give companies a bad reputation without even check it properly! I've tried to report it but never get an answer.

mywot is a scam website with totally fake ratings . I have tried several websites based on their reviews but alas all of them turned out to be untrustworthy. I really think these guys write commercial reviews by taking money for writing high rating reviews from big fake scam companies. There are several smaller companies which wot has marked as scam and untrustworthy. But these guys themselves are the biggest scam on internet. They write fake reviews for money. Their advice is not to be trusted at all. All their ratings are paid. Recently a friend of mine was harassed by their admins over negative reviews for his site. When that guy refused to yield to the terms of these scamsters they wrote negative reviews for his site and also blocked users from writing good reviews.

Reviews are easy to manipulate and/or buy, so obviously the ratings/reviews shouldn't really be trusted. I had my website attacked by 5 users, making me go from a green rating, which is what it was for years, to red in a matter of moments. Long story short, I tried to do what mywot recommends, which is basically go to the people who attacked you and do whatever they want in hopes they'll change their rating... I tried going down that road and got nowhere. I then did some searches to buy wot ratings and found a place that does offer to improve your wot rating. It took a few months but they did improve my wot rating as advertised. Which again is proof to me the ratings can be manipulated. I was attacked by a few and my rating was manipulated to poor. I then paid to manipulate my rating back to what it was... Bottom line it can be manipulated, so it shouldn't be trusted.

Your website is reviewed by "fake" users and given fake evaluations from them. Do not use this website!

Watch out for this website. Their name says Web of Trust but it is nothing of the sort. They either willingly turn a blind eye to the abuse their moderators can unlesh on business to ruin their reputation, or they are completely incompotent. Either way stay away from it!

With the capability of mass ratings, this site is very biased. Someone does not like you and they can rate all your sites bad in one click.

Warning to all Webmasters and SEO Company’s – WOT – (Web of Trust).
This Company from Helsinki claims to offer:-
“Would you like to know which websites you can trust?”
What they don’t tell you is anyone, even children, can end up rating a web site. Anyone can play at being GOD to devastate well run legitimate web sites. When you sign up with WOT they encourage you to rate more sites so that you increase your activity score which gives you an increased weighting on your reviewing. We had four well established web sites based in the UK, that where all PCI compliant and each site had its own SSL certificate. Along came a reviewer based in Italy and suddenly all our sites where branded “WARNING THIS SITE HAS A POOR REPUTATION BASED ON USER RATINGS”. To make matters even worse, as one user brands your web site as POOR along comes all his chums and they also click the agree box, so now your are really in a difficult situation.
First we contacted WOT through their web site to say this cannot be correct and can you intervene?, a few days later their reply came:-
“If you have already followed the instructions outlined here then there is nothing else we can do to help”.
We had checked the FAQ section that they were referring to so they had confirmed nothing can be done. They clearly have created something that they refuse to police.

As we tried to find out what could have caused this terrible situation, we discovered through the Forum we could communicate with the reviewer. We asked why did you do this to our web sites?
Below are some of the reasons listed. The reviewer (Name Removed) was ranked as number five in the world of WOT reviews having reviewed over 54,000 web sites. This means that WOT give him a rating score so high that even if we managed to ask 50 customers to take the time to register and rate us correctly their combined rating would be unlikely to change the poor rating we now have.

Trying to stay at number five must means this reviewer cannot spend much time on each site and certainly would not take the time to read correctly the policy and other legal documentation on our sites. A quick condemnation of all our four sites and he was off. Lets wonder for a moment how many well run sites has he attacked and condemned over the years? He probably has no idea how his actions in five minutes can undo years of hard work to a small family run business. As his lust to stay at the top of the league continues he never look’s back or pauses for a second, to contemplate maybe he has got that wrong. His picture not of himself but a cartoon image of throwing trash into a dustbin! This really does sum it up for us. He must think he is cleaning up the internet, however what is really happening is he is destroying the internet as we know it and as time passes E commerce Giants and the likes will become more dominant and there will become fewer and fewer smaller innovative web sites. This will have a knock on effect as many SEO Companies will then find less and less work is available.

We spent the following week actioning all the points that had been raised and duly email back to Name Removed. We never received a reply or a rerating of our sites.

Below are listed the three issues that were common to all four sites:-

“Your domain is a personal domain and no address is available to see at Nominet (UK .co.uk registers)”
We wrote back saying the default in the UK was to not display your home address with a personal domain, however to try and appease these reviewers we agreed to contact Nominet and have the home address displayed for all to see. (This seems to contravene privacy)

“Your Company registered office was the home address”
The Accountants have now changed this at Company House so the registered office is now also the works Office address.

“Your SSL Certificates does not display any Ownership information.”
We pay £50 a year for each of four Separate SSL certificates and so contacted the provider to ask why ownership information was not shown. We wrote “Hi Support we have received some very negative feedback on our web sites from a "WOT" Web of trust reviewers. They are saying our SSL are not safe I believe because "This website does not supply ownership information."
Is it possible for us to enter ownership details? If so how do we do this?

The level of detail depends on the SSL certificate purchased, as this is our SimpleSSL it does not contain much information on the site or owner.
It all comes down to 'cosmetic' preferences and if someone wants to examine the SSL cert details in more detail by viewing the properties of the cert.
i.e. - when you double click the 'padlock' icon on an SSL secured page > View Certificate > Details tab.
Domain authenticated SSL's (Standard SSL) will show and have information specifically about the domain name it is securing, where as the Simple SSL won't.
Then you have Extended Verification SSL which in the details will have both information about the domain but also about your company after extensive checks.
You could say 99% of the time no-one bothers to double click the padlock icon to check for these details and would then know what they're looking for - most people are just happy with a secured page”.

Next we received another comment from one of the WOT reviewers about our TrustWave Icons, you will see from below they are an International specialists in supporting PCI compliance (making sure web sites are safe and secure in all areas)” We had been advised by our International Bank to sign up with them as they are one of the best PCI specialists in the world.

My Advice to WOT would be let Goggle, Bing and the other search engines determine how good and safe a web site should be as they use many Algorithms and don’t rely on people’s misconceptions to try and make rash decisions on safe ecommerce web sites. Security software is great at offering adequate protection from dangerous sites.
This is the end of my experience with WEB OF TRUST and I thank you for taking the time to read this. Hopefully in time, additional steps will be put in place to protect secure well run sites, however until the day the Company Web of Trust decide to change and take some ownership for their actions, no webmaster is safe! You have been warned.

Es ist echt schlimm wenn z.b. von einem User etwas positives geschrieben wird und dies dann überwiegend nur negativ bewertet wird. Das kann nicht sein! Das ist unlogisch. Aber mal ehrlich, verkaufe ich eine Dienstleistung, dann bewerte ich diese Positiv, und die Konkurenz negativ, leider ist in vielen Bereichen die Konkurenz stark und man ist machtlos. Wenn ich schlechte arbeit verkaufen würde, dann würde ich es ja verstehen, aber ich habe so viele Stammkunden die mich immer weiter empfehlen und ich habe nur sehr selten unzufriedene Kunden, bei denen ich aber auch sofort nachbessere und mich mit dem Kunden zusammen setzte.
