2-1 solution instead of smart phones for young children

We were recommended KidsNav by a parent in my son’s class- when I was looking for alternative options to smart phones for keeping track of kids after school. We looked through the website and were quite impressed with the features that came with the watch. I could take remote photos, control the time during which the ‘smart’ aspect of the watch would function so typically during class hours I could schedule it to function like a normal watch without the call/phone feature being used. As working parents we found it super helpful and my son felt confident that he could reach us anytime he needed to. However accidentally at school, my boy broke the watch strap and I emailed the customer team explaining my situation. Laura responded immediately and resolved the problem within a few days. I am so impressed with the after-sales service and courteous customer relations by the team. Truly appreciate the good quality of the product and the fantastic customer support! Highly recommend the product!

The watch itself is excellent

The watch itself is excellent, can’t fault it at all. What is disappointing is that if you use the SIM card they provide, you must spend £10 every two months - I do not think this is clear from the KiDSnav website. I contacted ‘customer service’ and they were extremely rude to me, I’ve checked other 1 or 2 star reviews on here and sadly this seems to be a theme with the company. I won’t post the screenshots but the attitude is ‘I’m not sure what else you were expecting?’ And ‘If you really don't want to use another sim card in the watch, send it back and I'll refund you.’ which is really sad as I said the watches are great in my opinion. The company is marketing a product at families with young children and we are trusting the product to be able to contact our children and as a tool to keep an eye on their safety. Sadly, the rude customer service responses have made me feel really upset about the company in general. I’m sure there will no doubt be another rude reply to my review about how you don’t have to use the SIM card they supply, the multiple links to 1p mobile on their website, that they’ve offered me a refund etc but honestly I would avoid if you are expecting any level of good customer service.

Thanks for your review. As explained in our email exchange, the sim card provided does not have to be used. We supply sim cards from 1pmobile as they are the only network that allow us to purchase sim cards with £1 credit already installed on them.

We lose money when supplying these sim cards, but we think it's fair that our customers can test the watches BEFORE committing to add credit (with 1pmobile, or a network of their choice).

We have a couple of pages on our website that links to the tariff we supply and we have a whole 'compare' page on our website. If the sim card provided is used, it's still cheaper than all of our competitors.

Our company is indeed marketing a product at families with young children, hence why we're cheaper that all of our comptitors and supply a sim card from a network that is, like us, rated EXCELLENT on Trustpilot.

You're entitled to your opinion about our customer service, but we were simply trying to explain the above. We replied to all of your emails within a matter of minutes and even offered you to return the watch. In our opinion, that's good customer service, but again, you're entitled to your opinion.

Don't work in Europe on holiday as advertised

We bought two watches for our children to have in Europe on holiday. Watches worked ok in UK but don't work abroad. Problem seems to be the 1pmobile SIM that is heavily pushed by the company as the best one. All roaming settings activated but nothing works. 1pmobile don't answer the phone so just have 2 dead watches.

UPDATE: Glad to report Kidsnav are sending a new watch. Excellent outcome after I complained. I still think a watch designed for children should be able to have the screen replaced.
Original review: After buying this product a couple of weeks ago I decided to reserve judgement until we had for long enough. A device that is designed for children????? My 9 year old son was pushed in the school playground today and the screen cracked. The screens in these watches cannot be replaced!?!?!?! I just cannot believe how poor this is. Is Kidsnav expecting parents to buy another device and spend another £80???? Who's EVER heard of an expensive device designed for children that cannot get a cracked screen replaced. I am absolutely disgusted and WOULD NEVER BUY A KIDSNAV WATCH AGAIN. Outrageous!

Really disappointed with this watch

Really disappointed with this watch. Got it for my wee one Christmas gift and worn it once and it’s not switching on unless we hold the home button the moment we let go it just goes blank. Tried switching off and on nothing. A lot of money for it to last one day?

Could be great, unfortunately it's really not...

Since owning the watch for over a year we've had non stop issues, device switching off for no reason, showing full battery only for it to die in under and hour, device not switching on, temperamental charging cable (which was replaced by KidsNav for an upgraded version) however the new cable no doesn't charge the watch either. Over all I feel the device is of a very poor quality and although the support from KidsNav was good, the hardware really isn't worth what we paid for it and we just can't rely on it for the functions which we wanted it for. I've since bought a competitors device that has been flawless, and only slightly more expensive. From my experience I wouldn't recommend this product.

Hi, we've had the pink cat watch since Christmas and charging the device is incredibly unreliable. It takes multiple attempts to connect the magnetic charger before the watch registers it's charging and even then, the slightest movement can stop it from charging. It's becoming more and more frustrating as on days out when we really need the watch, after finally getting it to register charging being on charge overnight the battery is at 0% which defeats the object of having the watch. I've cleaned the copper contacts with a solvent cleaner but it makes no difference so it seems there's an issue with the device or the charger. Can you please help as my daughter loves the watch but the reliability just isn't good enough.

Please don't suggest I never contacted you.

And after saying I didn't contact you, you now back track and admit I did contact you? I've left an honest review of a sub par product. I no longer require support as the device I've since purchased does what it was advertised to, unlike the KidsNav so hopefully this review will help someone avoid the issues I experienced.

Hi Luke, thanks for your review and I'm sorry to hear this. We do offer a 1 month no quibble returns period should you not be happy with your purchase. Our watches are also provided with a 1 year battery warranty. We can't find an order placed but you, but we've requested your details. If you provide these, we can look into this further for you.

Update: Thanks for providing your information. We can see that you never contacted us to resolve the issue above. Sadly, we're unable to resolve issues if we're not given a chance to.

Update: You contacted us in February, we replaced the charger for free and we haven't heard from you since. You then leave us a 1 star review 10 months later despite your watch being in it's warranty period in this time and could have been replaced.

Great quality watch & fantastic service

I recently purchased this watch instead of the dreaded mobile phone.
The watch itself is well made and easy to use. The set up instructions are really clear and easy to follow with the informative videos.
My child loved being able to call and send us messages and voice notes and to be able to personalise the watch cover etc. We had a few issue with the location tracking which was the main reason for purchase for us. The customer services team were really quick to respond and super helpful. Although we tried everything they suggestion and 2 additional SIM cards, that they supplied, we discovered that we were in an EE dead zone so the tracking would not work well. For us this was the main purpose of the watch. So we would need to purchase a brand new SIM from another provider for the tracking to work. At this point though we decided that wasn’t an option. Even though technically the fault lay with the EE SIM coverage and not the watch, KidsNav gave us the option to return the watch for a refund. The refund arrive back in my account the day after KidsNav received the returned watch.
Although this didn’t work well for us on this occasions, due to the quality of the watch and excellent customer service experience, I would definitely purchase from KidsNav again in the future.

Stopped working after 7 weeks. Disappointed

The idea of the watch is brilliant if it works. We loved my wee girls, great piece of mind, she loved it too.
However I bought 1 it lasted 7 weeks and wouldn’t ever charge again customer services told me I had to buy a new charger so I did. No it still didn’t charge, customer services tried telling me that I wasn’t putting it on charge properly, obviously I was. I wanted to send it back to be fixed but they would only accept it if the straps were off and I didn’t know how to get them off. All ended up too much hassle wasted £100.

We asked you to check if all 4 pins on the cable were making contact with the watch and if it still didn't charge, please return the watch face to us (the part that pops out of the strap casing). Great product and amazing customer service!!

Both our sons have KidsNav watches and unfortunately the screens broke on both - not due to the product as our sons friends all have this watch and they have never cracked - user error on our part!!

The customer service team were so understanding and were able to replace one of the watches for free when purchasing a brand new watch.

Both watches are working great and give our boys that little bit of freedom they crave.

Good Watch

The watch does almost everything we expected of it and our child seems to enjoy using it. Would have been 5 stars if it worked abroad. It may just be us having the issues with it working abroad but we thought it should be able to work. Apart from that, it's all good.

Purchased in 2023

We purchased a KiDSnav GPS watch in October 2023 for our daughter. The watch is still going strong and our daughter continues to use it daily. The mobile app is brilliant and relatively easy to navigate. The ability to disable the smart-watch functions during school hours is great as are the parental settings. The location tracking can occasionally be a bit flaky but is usually spot on. Overall we're very happy with the watch and would recommend it as an alternative to a first mobile phone.

Hi, thank you so much for your review! GPS signal can only be found whilst the watch is outdoors. If the watch is inside, the watch will look for either a WiFi or LBS position. LBS can be switched off via the app:

GPS is the most accurate and requires a view of the sky providing location over 4G data as accurate as 5-10m.

WiFi: is moderately accurate as it finds the location using the watch's internet IP address with location accuracy between 50m-100m

LBS: The Local Base Station is the least accurate as it uses only the estimated proximity to the nearest cell tower with an accuracy between 50-1000m. It can be useful to find your child's location when no other location sources are available as they are in a building or underground parking for example.

Watch isn’t working

Got for my son’s birthday on Halloween, I only set it up 2 days ago I am having to charge it every night, as it isn’t holding a charge even though we haven’t been very active this weekend. When he is sitting the step counter keeps increasing the steps when he was sleeping it said he walked 700 steps. The GPS works one min then doesn’t work the next even though we are at our caravan and haven’t moved. If these issues could be fixed this would be an amazing watch for a child to have and would also give the parent peace of mind as to where the child is when out playing.

Very pleased with this watch

My daughter has had this watch for 2.5 years - she got it for her 9th birthday. We have been really pleased with the watch functions and with the service. Because she has this watch, my daughter can walk on her own to school and other activities, and can call me if she needs something (usually when she forgets her clarinet...) We received quick and great support whenever we needed it, couldn't be more pleased.

kids love watches

kids love watches. I have 3.
10, 8 and 5
watch is easy to set up, works. I have put in Ee SIM cards just cos suited me.

they watched location settings is brill and kids can be heard clearly over the line.
I had an issue with 1 watch. contacted Kidsnav, they told me what to do and it was resolved within 6 days.... they sent a new watch ( no hassle, no fees, no arguements ) - just great product and customer service

Great alternative to a mobile phone!

Wanted to buy my son a watch for out playing which had the GPS functionality and a phone so I could call him. After feedback from other parents, we went with this one as most of his friends had one too.
The watch is great, the app is also really helpful. Love the ability to call the watch and the watch to make outbound calls to, especially only restricted phone numbers.
Do have a bit of an issue with the GPS, where it shows the watch being in places it definitely isn't. However, will contact customer service as it seems this is easily fixed.

I highly recomend a kidsnav watch

I highly recomend a kidsnav watch, compared to others on the market, this actually works as expected and is a great tool for keeping in touch and keeping track of my child's location. I am passing it on to my youngest now the oldest has moved on to a mobile phone and it still works just as well!
