Hospiten PUNTA CANA FRAUD
Beware of this company. Report them for fraud and report to the health and tourism ministry. We reported them for extortion
They are a fraud!!!!
My husband and I travelled on 12/3. He had an issue with a hernia when we arrived and we saw the HOSPITEN doctor in the resort. We have experiences with hernia in the past and fever being absent we know we had a few hours to get back to the US which we told them we wanted to do. We begged them to just give us pain killers so we could fly back because we didn't feel safe or comfortable being treated in the DR. THEY SAID NO. They sent us to a second location for imaging.
The HOSPITEN staff at the second location was rude, borderline abusive. They denied us imaging even with us offering to pay cash. We paid for some medicine and they quoted us 26 k for a surgery because “your husband is dying”. The surgeon told us the surgery was necessary, this was all a lie. She had no way to knowing without imaging. She refused to do the imaging even though I begged her and offered a credit card to not avail.
I told them absolutely no to the surgery, when they figured no money was cometh she gave us some pain killers and we were able to fly back, but not without she telling me I was going to jail if my husband died. She was also adamant he wasn’t going to be able to fly.
I booked an emergency flight and made it to the airport around 10 am on 12/4, United Airlines gave us a wheelchair and I was able to manage his pain with the 9 pills they gave us and Aleve. They charged us almost $1000 dollars for 9 pain pills.
The people in the airport were nothing but angels that were sent from heaven. He slept thru the flight (no fever thanks God). We got to the EMERGENCY ROOM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND HOSPITAL and a Walter Reed Hospital surgeon (same hospital that treats the president of the United States) examined my husband.
Not only the cat scan showed he never was at risk of dying , his hernia was treated without surgery. They ran his blood work, no infection, nothing. Yes a hernia is urgent but Punta Cana is a couple of hours away from Florida. All we needed was palliative care to get him to the us. All we got was threats and lies. And on top of that she basically kidnapped us with threats of legal action and it was all a lie. That is crazy. The surgeon named Niziel Azul Espinal de Rodriguez and the resort doctor Carlos Jose del Rosario exaggerated my husband condition to charge us more, denied us the care we requested, denied us medical agency. We are not animals, we have the right to decide what happens to our bodies.
The doctors with Hospiten lie, lie and lie. Americans are only cash cows to them. They don’t care about the guests health or care. They treated us like cattle, like we did not have agency and not we weren’t humans and we are still allowed to choose our care. I am quite sure humans rights are universal and even though we aren't in out country we still have them.
We feel the need to warn Americans not to go to this resort if hospiten is on site abusing and lying to your customers. It is a shame, the staff at the resort are lovely and the beach is beautiful. But we are not animals. We are also planning on placing a complain with any pertinent medical authority in the United States and the Dominican Republic. But most importantly we need to warn the public via social media not to go there. Because we don't want people to be hurt or god forbids die because of hospiten fraud.
I spoke today to the tourism police and they confirmed this is a fraud and encouraged us to file a criminal complaint which we Will do Monday. I also email this to the ceo of Barcelo group.
Beware Tourists: A Costly and Unethical Experience - A Complete Scam
Our experience at this facility was nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that their primary goal was to extract as much your dollar money as possible, rather than provide genuine medical care. The entire event felt like a well-orchestrated scam, involving even the doctors.
The charges were exorbitant—far beyond what one would expect in any first-world country for basic services like a blood test, consultation, and the use of gloves. It was appalling. A blood test report which cost of every test on the same blood sample adding up hundreds of dollars just to fake reach their limit. I’ve attached the report to illustrate just how outrageous their billing is.
We were misled by a nurse at our resort who suggested that our daughter needed to see a general practitioner. However, we ended up in what turned out to be an emergency room and full-fledged hospital, where they seemed more interested in running unnecessary tests than addressing her condition.
Despite our daughter only experiencing vomiting without any signs of dehydration, they insisted on multiple tests, including X-rays and urine samples. They even attempted to insert an IV needle under the guise of drawing blood, which was completely unnecessary. We refused the IV, but they forced it upon her anyway.
Realizing the scam we were caught in, we decided to remove our daughter from their care. They refused to provide any oral medication or prescriptions and insisted we sign a letter before leaving. In the end, we paid $1,000 for absolutely no beneficial outcome.
Thankfully, our daughter is fine now, and we are relieved that we trusted our instincts to take her out of there. I strongly advise others to avoid this place at all costs—it’s a scam that preys on vulnerable patients.
Demasiado caro
Demasiado caro. Gracias
This is the worst hospital
This is the worst hospital, especially for the cruise ship workers. The doctors are continuously failing the workers medical if they don't "wet their palm". Many people have been complaining about this place. I wish I could have put zero star. My advise to this hospital is to review your customer feedbacks, because all your patients cannot be wrong if they are all having the same issues.

Meest verschrikkelijke ziekenhuis ooit…

I was taken off a plane collapsed with a severe uti. The paramedic was wonderful and kind. They took me to Hospiten Sur and gave me treatment immediately. We were given a double room so my husband could stay with me which we were grateful about.
I had great medical treatment: saline drip, strong antibiotics with a night shift nurse giving me my meds. I had head scan to check for stroke or brain injury and ultra sound scan for kidney and urinary checks. We were fed three times a day and given bottled water. The room was lovely with French windows and balcony. Great en suite clean linen and toiletries. Many staff spoke some English but the translation department helped with doctor visits and admin for insurance. It was very peaceful and I am now fully recovered a week after returning home. I was given a prescription for more antibiotics and painkillers as well as a sheaf
of info for my GP. Thank you to all staff and medics.
If you are American don't give them your money!
Unfortunately, Hospiten Los Cabos is horrible. While some of the people who worked there were nice, the hospital administrator was a very unkind nasty woman. They only wanted our money and to agree to a surgery for my husband while we were on vacation and flying home the next day. Once we wouldn't agree, they told us we had to leave. So we went back to our hotel and flew home the next morning. Since then they have been paid both by us when we were in the hospital as well as by our insurance company. They have over $3,000 more than the total bill. But they are refusing to refund my money. They are basically criminals. They never answer the phone of their international billing office in Florida. And the person I am supposed to be working with ignores my emails and my repeated attempts to speak to a supervisor. Just stay away from these people. Go anywhere else.
Hospiten sur tenerife, Dr Nazco shouldn't be called a doctor, He is absolutely incompetent and blames mobility issues and chronic pain, fatigue, high cancer markers and epstein barr all on Ptsd I suffered as a child 40 years ago. Failed to even listen to the list of symptoms I have, failed to do any physical examination, failed to look at my blood test results and decided all my problems were psychological and go take antidepressants. I am in so much pain I can not even get up my stairs to use the bathroom but he decided that is because I have PTSD. he is an absolute joke of a doctor and the empathy of the devil.
Montego Bay hospiten is the worst place…
Montego Bay hospiten is the worst place you can ever goto, they would not even treat my dad after having a stroke until they had 20,000 dollars sent over. My dad is not doing well because of this place after days of being there costing 10,000 a day. Finally we got him back to the US and they couldn’t even send over a decent medical report as to anything they did to him, if the did anything at all. Never travel without travelers insurance because you will not be touched unless they have the money in front of them!!
Beware - Not always free care for European Health Card holders
If you are a citizen from the European Economic Area (EU+ Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein) and need medical services in the South of Tenerife...
please note that this Hospitén Sur close to Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos and Adeje is a "concertado" hospital (private with agreement with Social Security in Spain). This means that the agreement does not cover all treatments for free even if you come with the European Health Insurance card.
If you need a public hospital in the South you can go instead to Arona, Hospital del Sur in Tenerife. That one is public and is not so far. They do not have all specialities though.
This was the experience of our daughter on 26 June 2024. After being examined they told her the services needed would require an specialist (and ingreso) and that would cost her money. On the phone they had previously told me she would be welcome with the European Health Card because they had an agreement with the Social Security (concierto).
The other good alternative for a public Hospital is the one in La Candelaria near Santa Cruz. This one has all specialities and a very good reputation.
My TUI hotel has a preferred GP to see…
My TUI hotel has a preferred GP to see guests. The GP sent me to Hospiten Roca who asked for my bank card as soon as I arrived. Apparently I needed Euro10,000 to get tests and treatment. They had no charging agreement with San Rogue or my insurer. When I returned home I was advised the vast majority of the investigations were unnecessary and I also suffered sepsis from the catheterisation for the unnecessary tests. Ask your hotel rep to guide you to San Rgoue hospital. Avoid this clinic they overcharge. Also avoid any private GP who refers you unless you have the money to pay.
