Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage is truly an amazing experience! The Wilson family (and the staff) are so welcoming, that I now feel part of the family.
The accommodation is fantastic, and the work itself with the animals is so rewarding, and I felt like I was truly making a difference with wildlife conservation. This place has my highest recommendation!

GoEco answered all my project questions, and assisted me in completing the pre-trip forms and requirements. They were available during the complete process, and followed up at the completion of each Project.

Costa Rica-Sloth and Wildlife Rescue Center
I was able to spend two weeks in Costa Rica volunteering at the center. We fed and cared for the many sloths, parrots, peccaries, Capuchin monkeys, coyotes, and I believe an Ocelot or two. I also met some of the most wonderful and amazing people from all over the world! Young or old it didn't matter. We worked together, ate together, played games and even slept in the same dorm. Vanessa and Laura (founders and sisters) were the most amazing women I have ever had the pleasure to meet. They are filled with such passion and commitment for their countries culture and wildlife. I am deeply grateful that I was able to be a part of this experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Italy-Liveaboard Dolphin & Whale Research Expedition
What could be better than to be on a sailboat off the island of Ischia, Italy for one week! Nothing! The crew and volunteers would sail out daily from the port in Casamicciola Terme into the gulf of Naples hoping to spot dolphins, whales, sea turtles, etc... and we did! Data was collected on the sightings which provided important information on the population and habitat use. The food on board was simply amazing and it was prepared by our chef captain! A mouth watering experience. I was also able to sleep on deck under the stars each night with breath taking sunrises and sunsets. The crew were helpful, kind and accomodating and the volunteers were of all ages, walks of life and countries! My heart is full!

I might just be GoEco’s biggest fan. I travelled a lot the past few years (>20 countries) and my favorite trips ever have all been volunteering projects I have done. My latest ones were the Bali and Lombok Sea turtle conservation projects. An incredible journey with many lessons learned, not just about turtles or marine life but about me as a human. I will always recommend them to those who are willing to go through life shaping experiences.

The team is really nice and responsive! I think the documentation/on-boarding could be a bit more organized, but overall really happy with how everything turned out!

This was the highlight of our 3 month trip around SE Asia. The program is well run by Green Lion, all the coordinators were friendly and very passionate about the cause. The time spent learning about and working with the turtles was amazing and the bittersweet moment of releasing a few into the ocean was indescribable.

The people made my experience a thousand times better. Everyone who works at the project was incredibly attentive and genuinely cared about my wellbeing and about making sure I was enjoying my time there. They knew I was also creating social media content, so they were always willing to help me get good photos and videos and they never forgot about it. I really appreciated that level of attention.
They also took the time to explain everything in detail. They wanted me to understand as much as possible, not only so I could share it online, but also because they truly care about raising awareness. It was the same for all the volunteers. They made a real effort to teach us about the reality that the lions, especially, face. I thought their focus on education was amazing.
Beyond that, the place itself is incredible. The sanctuary and the reserve are beautifully maintained and surrounded by nature. I would genuinely describe it as a magical place. I felt very calm and at peace there. I went mainly to see the lions and learn more about them, but the experience became much bigger than that. It is something you really immerse yourself in.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone. It is a deep and meaningful immersion that truly shifts your perspective. I believe everyone should have an experience like this. It is a powerful reality check that changes the way you see things and stays with you long after you leave.

I had an amazing time out in South Africa volunteering and I would like to go back at some point, the go eco team were very helpful and were always there if I needed anything they were checking up on me every now and then and they even helped me get back my lost luggage at one point. The volunteering place was truly amazing working with different nationalities and so many different animals and having a new adventure each time I would highly recommended going to Felidae centre for anyone new

My husband, 16 year old daughter, 13 year old son and myself vokunteered i Nepal. From the moebt we arrived, we were made to feel welcome by Rajesh, his family and staff. We appreciated the flexibility and diversity thus origeam iffered. My husband and son chose to paint and renovate a new school, while my daughter and I taught at the kindergarten. It was challenging, which made it worthwhile. My daughter learned to plan lessons and how to think on her feet, as this node lessons run much smoother. The students responded well to creativity .. songs with actions, drawing and labelling, games .. Just like any student in any country. The program surpassed our expectations though, with being mire than volunteering. We learned so much about Nepal. Rajesh wncouraged us to learn about Nepalese culture, from Budhism, to Nepalese names to food to community Our guides showed us around the town, temples and the old palaces, explaining the history and politics of the country. We did yoga, had cooking clases, language lessons, and visited a monestry and temples, We felt like we were guests in their home playing with their dogs, chatting around the table, and enjoying their company. The house is beautiful and comfortable and we felt safe. Since volunteering, we have done a 4 day trek near Pokhara, and are currently at Chitwan. My kids have been complimented for knowing a few phrases in Nepalese and having some idea about the country. Their thirst for knowledge came from volunteering at the school and chatting to Rajesh and his guides. Thanks for a great experience!

The whole process was seamless, from interview stage to the actual trip itself.

The experience was especially meaningful as it offered exposure for all of us! We had a fun time taking care of the sea turtles, preparing food, feeding them and doing simple chores around the centre. Definitely the most memorable travel trip as a a family!!

During the trip, the coordinator, arranged and planned activities around the work at the centre. There was a nice balance between volunteering duties at the centre and excursions. We love the way it is structured that we have morning duties to motivate us to contribute. And in the afternoons, there were excursions to look forward to.

My experience with GoEco in the Amazon rainforest was truly meaningful and life-changing. The program was very well organized, and I felt supported and safe throughout my stay. GoEco works with responsible local partners and offers ethical, well-structured volunteer programs with real impact. This experience has had lasting value in my life, and I am deeply grateful to GoEco for making it possible.

The family that runs the orphanage are so amazing and treat you like actual family. It was an amazing experience and it was so much fun learning and working with the animals. The housing and food was so amazing and comfortable. I will definitely be going back one day and taking my sister with me.

Over the past 10 years I have experienced multiple volunteer projects on 2 different continents and GoEco has been an amazing partner through it all. Any and all questions and help I could have needed I knew that I could count on the wonderful people behind GoEco to take care. The whole process made me feel comfortable traveling halfway around the world alone as a female and I would do it again and again.

Being seen as one of the team members, in the marine centre, and being involved in the whole morning routine, of cleaning their tanks, preparing the turtles meals and helping and watching the vets working with each Turtle. My highlight was being able to everyday snorkel and collect sea grass for Hope, the green turtle.
Extra activities were brilliant. Couldn’t believe we got to swim with Manta Rays, going night fishing with the locals and swim with Nurse sharks.
The heat was something you have to get use to. We found walking to and from our accommodation, in extreme heat, to the Marine Centre and restaurant tiring.
Catching the sea plane was an amazing part of the experience, we feel to just make it easier and less confusing for the airline we should have a print out of the receipt to say the flight had been paid for.
We would go with GoEco again.

It was filled with great opportunities to learn and help animals while having free time to enjoy the area and discover so much! We'd do it again. Nice accommodations, great staff and good food considering the limitations of the area. Great trip!

I would love to volunteer abroad with GoEco again! I was able to meet amazing volunteers and be with all the precious, beautiful animals of the sanctuaries. I will forever cherish this experience and will definitely make it a tradition. Thanks GoEco!

Go eco were really good when I was on a volunteering program in August 2025. They provided all the information that I needed prior to travel. When I was en route there was an issue with luggage. a message to go eco staff was answered really quickly and the support was there

Great communication! The program information was very thorough and easy to process. My experience was exactly what I expected, except the animals failed to make an appearance. Certainly no ones fault and it didn't diminish my experience at all. I look forward to volunteering again on a different program in the future.

My son has been studying Japanese for years and is very independent (has traveled overseas, navigated New York City at night by himself), so at the age of 17 (summer 2025) we signed him up to go to Japan and teach in a school for students that here in the states would be in inclusive classrooms, but in Japan had their own special school. My son has experience working with kids (including kids with special needs), and can read, right, and speak Japanese proficiently. This is important information to have for what comes next.

When my son met the point of contact, it was on a Friday. The man had trouble finding the domestic arrivals, so my son had to wait for a bit. My son does not get anxious easily, and was pretty chill. The man drives to the dorm, which was about 30 minutes outside of Kyoto. My son gets to the dorm to find out he is the only child there (dorm has a handful of German men in their 20s) and was immediately told by his point of contact that he needed to provide a deposit of ¥40,000 for the dorm room. We had no idea this deposit needed to be made. My son was very lucky he had the cash. The lack of communication on this, combined with jet lag, no other teens, and culture shock did not make for a very good first few days to say the least.

One of the things that stuck with my son was the fact that the German men were volunteers for an entire year, had their visas, etc. My son signed up for two weeks, being a high school student. The men with him were flabbergasted that my son was there. They just thought it was wild that someone would be there for only two weeks. From the pieces that my son was able to put together it looked like GoEco was not the main volunteer organization sending people to Japan.

Overall, my son had a positive experience. But I want to reiterate that anyone who’s thinking about volunteering in a setting more for adults like this one should be very independent and prepared for hiccups. I would caution parents sending their children if it will be their first time dealing with jet lag or navigating airports, etc. in foreign countries alone. My son spent his weekends by himself traveling around Kyoto and Osaka. This worked well for his experience with the language and his personality type, but parents/ teens should ask questions about the specific experience they signed up for, deposits, and fees, point of contact, and whether or not they will truly be experiencing this with children their own age that they can communicate with or all alone.
