Spent two weeks doing the childcare programme and had the most amazing time!! All the staff and people were incredible and so welcoming especially Rama, Nema and both Ibrahims.
The programme was great and all of the activities were so much fun. Thank you TMR for such a great trip!!

My first solo travel and I chose to spend 3 weeks in tanzania with the mighty roar. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better placement, everything about it was perfect from the super friendly staff to the amount i’ve learnt in the hospitals to the trips around the country. I cant recommend enough and if there was ever a problem the team is prepared to solve it asap. Thankyou for your help and time TMR!!

I did two weeks on the dog programme and it was genuinely one of the most rewarding experiences. The staff are so welcoming and treat you like family.I LOVED working with Kavi on the dog programme. You can see how much she cares about the welfare of the street dogs in Sri Lanka and works hard to improve their lives. She constantly checked up on me and made sure i was having the best time and i’ll miss her and the dogs so much. I couldn’t recommend the dog programme enough!

Had a great time during my medical elective in Sri Lanka - we rotated throughout medical / surgical / a and e / paeds / obs and gynae and it was interesting to be able to compare and contrast how publical hospitals operate in Sri Lanka aswell as those within the nhs. Aircon in the accomodation , really enjoyed the food buffets for lunch and dinner.

My experience with The Mighty Roar has been so amazing. As soon as we arrived I felt so welcome and comfortable and at ease with all the staff. As a nursing student I feel really well supported both in the hospital and at the hotel. The staff have made this experience so amazing and I feel so safe and looked after. The staff take us everywhere door to door to ensure we get to the right place which is such an amazing service. I would recommend The Mighty Roar for a volunteering experience to anyone. Thank you!

I loved the structure of The Mighty Roar through the volunteering but also the free time you can get as well. I loved working with Chamo on the teaching and childcare programme, she really cares about the quality of your experience and checks up on you throughout. My experience volunteering would not have been the same without Chamo as she made it so fun and demonstrated through her commitment and presence she really cares about you! Thank you Chamo!

I’ve just spent 3 weeks in Tanzania with TMR and it was honestly the most incredible experience. The staff here are AMAZING and will help you out with anything you need. The hostel is great, close to Moshi town centre with loads going on.

The volunteering at the dog sanctuary was 10/10. Tumo, who runs the sanctuary, is such a kind person and taught us so much. It’s an experience I will always remember. The weekend safari is also so much fun, definitely recommend!

Overall, I would definitely recommend coming to Tanzania volunteering with TMR. The friends and memories I’ve made I will cherish forever and have absolutely no regrets.

TMR in tanzania was beyond expectation! The staff at the accommodation were amazing, they are so friendly and helpful. Childcare was amazing, we had a structured day where we sing and play. The kids at the nursery are around 2-3 years old, the teachers love the children and I really felt like I was helping out during the day.
The activities they run were so fun, they include a waterfall hike, hot springs visit, paint n sip, base camp kili hike etc. Really made the day.
Moshi is lovely, people are friendly and it is really beautiful!

I spent two weeks at TMR in Sri Lanka doing the childcare program and it was definitely an unforgettable experience. Teaching the children the English alphabet was super cute and rewarding when the children understood us. Furthermore, Chamo who is the leader of the childcare/teaching program is lovely, her passion for teaching and love for the children is clear. Not only is she obviously a good teacher and extremely fitting for this role, she is very clear when explaining her instructions to us and communicating what the children are saying in English combatting the difficulty of the language barrier. Chamo made our experience extra special and I can’t thank her enough!!

I did the TMR Dog Sanctuary experience in Moshi, Tanzania. This was truly one of the most humbling, most exciting, most loving experiences I’ve ever took part in. Every second I learnt something new, I engaged with people I never thought I’d engage with, & learnt new things everyday. The staff in the hostel are also the most amazing people ever. They make you feel so at home. I did two of the weekend trips, the safari and Zanzibar. Both incredible - shoutout to Emmanuel… he made the Zanzibar experience better than ever! He’s one of the best tour guides I know. All I can say is a big thank you to the mighty roar. I feel like a whole new person after this experience. :)

I did 4 weeks volunteering in Ghana, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute! Felt looked out for and safe during my time and made lots of memories. The curfew worked really well and we were in bed most nights before then anyways as up early to get the most out of our days. I am gluten free and Dinah and the local team were really good at providing me safe alternatives such as eggs for breakfast and rice or yam for lunch and dinner, it all tasted incredible and there was always more than enough for us all. The communication from the local team could’ve been better as there were some miscommunications that led to us missing out on activities. The activities themselves were very fun, loved the dance class with the boys.
The UK team do need to update the handbook however as it is over glamorised (particularly the stilt village trip) where i felt we were sold a dream (there was no relaxing on the beach, no turtle watching despite being in the time zone stated in the handbook, no swimming as the pool was green and 5 hours of waiting around for dinner with little to do as we were not allowed to leave the hotel compound) for the money paid i don’t feel that trip was worth it. the cape coast trip however was incredible and i highly recommend, we did lots of activities and had a great time. It was also the easter holidays for more than the first half of my time there which although the local team were amazing at adapting to it with holiday lessons at the school, i felt it wasn’t made clear enough to me before going (handbook only states ‘4 weeks around march/april’) and if i’d had known this i would’ve changed my volunteer dates to feel i had got the most out of it, I spent the last week and a half at the special needs school which was absolutely amazing, I have never felt more welcome than with the teachers and children there, they would translate for me and got me involved in all sorts, such as dancing, beading, maths, english and physio- it was very eye opening and heart warming to see the children working together as a family. I wish i could have spent my entire month there. Despite this however I left having had the most incredible time and have made friends for life, i would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking about going, however it is important to go with an open mind, be adaptable and don’t expect the handbook to be completely accurate to what you will experience.

I had an amazing 3 weeks on the medical programme. The staff were so helpful and friendly. We also had the opportunity to get involved with the teaching programme which was lovely to meet the local kids. The accommodation is right next to the beach so you can easily spend your free time there !

I would highly recommend the Mighty roar to anybody who wants to see parts of the world while doing worthwhile and effective volunteer work. I’ve made friends for life, and just had the best time in Tanzania. The accommodation is good and very safe, the staff are the kindest most giving people who are always looking out for you, the food was delicious with enough variety, and the volunteering placements were all well run with the nicest people.
Tanzania as a location is great for weekend trips too, the safari was the best weekend ever!! And Zanzibar is so beautiful, they are both 100% worth the money. Day trips were great too, including the hot springs, waterfalls, and Kilimanjaro day hike to base camp. Would highly recommend all of these trips.
Will definitely do it again with TMR!

TMR Sri Lanka placement was excellent. I did the medical placement which was based in three different hospitals. The doctors were very nice and we got to see lots of areas in medicine. The food and accom on site was very good and the staff were very attentive. Would recommend.

I did the medical program for 4 weeks. I loved TMR and meeting lots of new people. The placements were interesting and visiting traditional Sri Lankan medicine clinics was fascinating. Thank you for a great time! Special thanks to Thilini for all her efforts!

They are doing a great job in restoring and rebuilding the reef system in Tianjar. As a participant of the diving volunteer program you are actively participate in it from day one onwards.
I wished they would grant volunteers more scientific insights beside "simply" deploying the structures. That would make it a 5 star experience for me.

The staff in TMR are all so lovely and make the experience. Kavi and Chamo make you feel at home. The food is similar day to day. The medical elective is very much just observing.
