Based on a recommendation of a friend…

Based on a recommendation of a friend here in the USA who bought waterproofs from Function18 that you can't get here in the US, I purchased a hat and a pair of shoes on May 27 that are unavailable here in the US.
My order did not leave the building/warehouse for at least 3 days, per Function18's own data.
The order then took several more days to get on a ship on June 5. A ship? Seriously? My package, per GPS as indicated to by the company that Function18 pawns off their shipping function to, has been sitting South of Africa for two weeks now.
I am not sure, I will have to check with the nearest 8 year old, but I think there is a chance that GPS might could update the location of the package as it moves.
Was hoping to take these shoes to Pebble Beach with me next week.
At this point I am not sure if I will have the shoes by the end of the year.

I will gladly update the review once someone tells me where the hell my items are and why Function18 actively lies about their shipping methods.

Hi John,

We're looking into why your package is delayed; your email to customer services today was the first contact we've had, so we were unaware of the problem until that point. As you correctly point out, your order placed on Sunday the 27th did not ship as usual on Monday the 28th due to it being a UK Bank Holiday and the couriers do not collect on public holidays; as a result your parcel left the warehouse on the afternoon of Tuesday the 29th. Having looked at the tracking it is a certainty that the goods are being held by US Customs. Having arrived in Amsterdam for processing on the 4th June, it was last tracked on the 5th June as it departed for the States. The package will have arrived in the US on the 6th and been held since then. Customs can hold goods (for no reason) for up to 14 days - this is the drawback of the ‘free’ shipping service that we offer; a service that has been removed from all other territories than the US but due to customer demand and the fact that USPS are the final courier (they offer a good service) we've kept the service live, as it is an acceptable, cost efficient option for smaller baskets - higher value baskets, over $200 are upgraded to free express shippng. However, there is a small chance that customs will intervene and delay the package, hence why we quote 11-13 working days for delivery. We will get back to you with an update but the likelihood is that until US Customs release the package that the tracking will not update. There is nothing 'palmed off', we pay Global-e to handle all of our overseas shipments, as you would pay any courier or broker and we aren't aware that we've lied at any stage of the process (however if you have any evidence that a member of staff has purposely misled you, then please furnish us with that information and they will be summarily dismissed); we're a little bit too busy to adopt a strategy of telling lies (be that active or passive), so as a rule we opt for the path of least resistance and operate with full transparency. We are of course extremely aggravated by your discontent at the shipping service and it re-ignites the argument of whether the free ‘tracked post’ service that we offer, is in fact worth bothering with; if 5 parcels out of 100 get held up then that’s 5 angry customers and as I’ve mentioned we prefer an easy ride, so zero angry customers would definitely be a more desirable ratio and your experience is definitely adding fuel to that fire.

Hi John,

As per the email we've sent from customer services, the tracking has updated this morning; USPS now have the pachage and it will be delivered shortly. The goods have been sat with Customs and we can only apologise for the delay that has caused. For anyone reading this thread we would advise not to use the free tracked service if you have any urgent requirement for your goods and it's worth bearing in mind that anything over $200 is upgraded to an express service, free of charge.

Excellent service

Function18 are pretty much my 'Go To' website for golf gear now. Next day delivery and on time as promised. I've now ordered quite a few items and all arrived on time. One item had to be returned, which was an easily made warehouse picking error. But the returns procedure was clear and easy, and received the correct item a few days later. Thank you for excellent customer service. F18 have quite a range and I will continue stocking up on clothing and equipment.

Great customer service

Couple of items ordered. Sent the wrong size, not a problem, it happens, everyone makes mistakes. Sent an email to them, replied within a couple of hours, John resolved my query ASAP and is sending the correct size next day delivery, with paid for postage to return the incorrect item. Perfect customer service. Will not hesitate to use again despite the mistake. Thanks!!!!

Outstanding Customer Service !

I have on many occasions extolled the exemplary performance of F18, each time and every time on various review sites as it's important to provide feedback for all the obvious reasons to customer and the organisation alike. For many it's how a company executes an order from placement to delivery will govern its assessment and that's right, but more than that it's how an organisation treats its customers when there is a query as can inevitably happen occasionally in a fast paced commercial world. I have just experienced my first ever minor issue and it's been handled with the utmost empathy and resolved immediately and to my entire satisfaction - now THAT'S the level of Customer Care that all businesses should aspire to. Entrust your order (large or small) to F18 and it couldn't be in safer hands in my book.

"I'm sorry if you found any of the appearances misleading however this has never been a problem for any of our other customers in the past 10years of trading." --- respond from F18 after 3 days of my repeated enquiry.

I enquired about the correctness of two identical discounted items price which indicated same product same quality but great difference in price on the sale product page. Of course, you can set any price as you like but it is misleading and confusing. Henceforth, I sought for their clarification. The staff is completely apathetic about the customer's concerns. Arrogantly he just brought up dogmatic assertions that they have "NO" problem at all for the past 10 years. This is absolutely a "convenient" answer for any queries. Am I a trouble maker to waste my time? The customer service staff is a pompous little official who thought he controls the whole world golf product himself! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are full of cocksure!!

You queried why a seasonal colour was in sale, yet the same item in a non-seasonal colour, which carries over into autumn was not. Without patronising you with a lesson in economics, my colleague did his best to answer your question. In response you then decided to accuse us of actively trying to mislead our customers, using the vehicle of, for want of a more fitting phrase, some made up drivel. Feeling rightly aggrieved by this accusation, the employee in question (that you refer to as a pompous little official) rebuffed your accusation using nothing more than the facts, along with the precedent of 10 yrs plus of trading. As you were not in a position to contest his reply you did not come back to us (thankfully) and instead decided to leave a post on a review site that our site no longer supports. That Donald, I would suggest is an act of modern day cowardice and goes someway to confirming the underlying thoughts that you have about yourself and I quote 'Am I a trouble maker to waste my time?' - the evidence so far would suggest so, yes. To think that a hundred years ago better men, poignantly, were shot for less; I can't help but think that would have left a better legacy than the one you have created for yourself here.

To be clear my colleague received your email (forwarded from Global-e) on the Sunday evening and had replied to you by 09.10 of the Monday morning.

If you want to continue in a battle of words Donald, then please make sure you're appropriately armed.

Superb service

I ordered goods on Friday 28th October, received confirmation of the order within minutes by email. On Monday morning I received a message to say my parcel would be delivered between 10.20 and 11.20 am. At 10.23am my doorbell rang and the delivery man was there with my order.
The service and quality of my delivery is first class.
