Extranomical Tours, founded in 2002, is a San Francisco sightseeing tour company that specializes in tours for people who generally do not like to take tours. Our clientele is very independent and likes to venture to places where most tour companies don't go to. Due to the small size of our groups, our guests receive a more personalized and exclusive experience from us. Our tours offer a distinct "traveling with friends" feel, so that most people interact with each other and so we are able to visit locations larger vehicles do not. For example, we have a short hike up to the Giant Sequoia grove on our one day Yosemite tour from San Francisco. On our California wine country tours, we visit small family-owned boutique wineries (too small for large buses) that produce such limited quantities you can only buy their wine at their winery!
We are fully insured and licensed by the State of California Public Utilities Commission and are regulated and inspected annually by the California Highway Patrol. We are proud members in good standing at the San Francisco Travel Association. All of our drivers are drug tested at the time of hire as well as at random times throughout the year. We make sure that our vehicles are always in excellent mechanical condition by inspecting daily and keeping a rigid maintenance schedule.
We train all of our guides one-on-one to make sure that they are knowledgeable, courteous, and most of all, safe. All of our guides are also friendly, informative, and experienced. We test drivers on a periodical basis on their knowledge of the areas we visit. We also maintain a training program and a resource library for guides to stay current on relevant material.
We carefully select the locations we explore on our tours to maximize your time and see the best of the best, while always maintaining an adventurous yet easy-going atmosphere. On our tours we have a comfortable amount of time where you are with the group, but we also give you enough time on your own so you can choose from different activities that interest you such as hiking, shopping, museums, or just taking in the beauty.

Trip to Yosemite
Brian Sugrue made our trip so nice and enjoyable! He was kind and understanding of everyone's needs and gave amazing presentations of each place I felt like I could talk to him comfortably throughout the whole trip! Yosemite one day tour
We went on the tour to Yosemite from San Francisco. Our tour guide Sharon was exceptionally good. Unfortunately our bus had an issue which caused a slight delay but Sharon was amazing and kept us updated and did her best to ensure we saw everything and had a great time. The stops at the supermarket were fine, it gave enough time to grab something to eat and visit the toilets. Although we arrived back later than expected Sharon drove extremely carefully and we all felt safe because of the weather conditions. I would definitely recommend this tour as a one day overview of Yosemite, it is breathtaking!

Great wine country tour
Great wine country tour! We were guided by Alberto through Napa, Sonoma and Muir woods. It was a great relaxing experience. Alberto is a personable, funny, and very knowledgeable tour leader providing lots of history and wine knowledge all in a relatable presentation. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun day visiting wine country!! Would absolutely do again!

Dining twice a day in the grocery
Dining twice a day in the grocery: this is the worst tour Ive ever experienced..
Sharon was really kind and delightful, however I cannot understand why this tour dropped us at the grocery (safeway) and let us to eat breakfast/dinner here.. grocery foods are very sucks you know.. but there are no options.
Also overall tour today was delayed because of the bus condition, so we will arrive our home (San Jose) around 12am. Since the bus had some issue, driver drove very slowly. This is very tiring..

The bus had some issues, so we arrived in Yosemite much later than planned. As a result, the entire tour felt rushed, and we didn’t have enough time to fully enjoy each spot. To make matters worse, we got to the restaurant so late that it was already closed. It was honestly quite shocking—we ended up grabbing some cold food from a nearby grocery store around 10 p.m. just to avoid hungry. And also arrived at the hotel aroung 11pm-12am. So feel bad and exhausted.

Fun Day with Dustin
Dustin was a wonderful guide and driver! He was informative and funny. My mom and I truly enjoyed the tour. Only one negative feedback was that the tour bus smelled so bad with the cleaning chemical or room fragrance. It was very strong. Other than that, the tour was well money worth and I’m glad we signed up!

Dustin was an excellent tour guide. We got more wine tastings than the usual ones. He has a great sense of humor and made the experience even better. He also knows a lot of history and likes sharing it.
The bus was full and everyone was respectful of timing.

Dustin was a GREAT guide! He told us all kinds of facts and details on the way out to Muir Woods and the wineries, and tossed in a lot of funny humor along the way. Muir Woods was absolutely beautiful and the three wineries were awesome. Highly recommend this tour!
