I had a very unsatisfactory experience while visiting one of your stores in Virginia, at 9880 W. Broad St., in Glen Allen.
I had come in to look for a pair of sneakers and had decided on a pair of Saucony’s, for $64.99. While in the aisle I asked one of the sales associates if I could use a DSW VIP coupon I had in my possession, which was $30 off if one spends $49. She looked it over front and back and said it was good.
So I waited in line with my 90-year-old mother who wanted to buy a pair of sunglasses which I also charged. The line was about 8 people long when we went to the register.
To my dismay, the cashier would not apply the coupon. She said it did not cover the Saucony brand. She then showed me a yellow sheet showing the numerous brands (all popular) excluded from the coupon including Saucony.
I feel this is misrepresentation and fraud on several levels:
1) On the coupon itself, there was no mention of popular brands being excluded. This omission is not representative of good business practices and kind of a teaser to draw customers in which is very misleading. What’s the value of a coupon if most brands are omitted?
2) The personnel in the store shouldn’t say a coupon is valid, when it isn’t.
3) The cashier stated that signs were posted in the store showing the exclusions. There were none apparent on the aisle where I shopped and I did not see any very visible in other parts of the store or else I would have thought twice about the purchase.
Because of this, you can expect to lose this customer. Famous Footwear honors their coupons and doesn’t mislead the customer till you are at the point of purchase, after telling them the coupon is valid, and invalidates the discount. Poor form, and poor business practices. You should address this at your earliest opportunity.
This place is a racket
This place is a racket. They send me coupons and $ off and savings with codes, but for the past 3 times I’ve gone I’ve been told “you can only use that online” for coupons that state that nowhere or “this item doesn’t qualify for that savings.” I have NEVER had a coupon/ reward work there. I’ve bought my last pair of shoes there.
Please support other places that won’t give you the run around when you’re just trying to keep your head above water and save a buck or two where you can.

We ordered a replacement pair of shoes for a pair that my son LOVED! They shipped the wrong shoes (wrong brand, wrong color and still had security tag on them). When I called, the original shoes were no longer available and my son is devastated!

Received an email a few hours later that the sneakers I ordered was canceled!!!!! Call Center said there was a glitch in the system!!!! Very unprofessional...Will never order on line again...Have not been happy with any pair of have ordered...they seem like rejects!!!!
I have been shopping at DSW for years…
I have been shopping at DSW for years and never have been disappointed, everyone has always been so helpful. To me shopping for shoes is stressful, it takes a lot of walking through the store to find what I need because I am picky. When I get to the register to pay I am tired, so having someone personable and people friendly at the register is nice. Thanks guys.
DSW Knoxville is the worst DSW store
I went there to purchase a few pairs of shoes and I actually found them. When I went to the register to purchase them, I asked the cashier a simple question as to whether I could have a raincheck on the free bags they were offering since they ran out of them. Suddenly the manager who was not even part of the conversation and was standing behind the cashier doing something else comes to the counter and rudely takes the coupon for the free bag from me and patronizingly points to the dates on the back and tells me: “You have to look at the dates! Do you see these dates!? When you get these coupons look at the dates! Do you see March 2 to March 5? So look at the dates next time you get these!” I was so shocked I didn’t know what to say. I was going to let it go, pay for the shoes and leave, until I saw a small defect on one of the pairs and asked if I could get 10% off for that pair. Again, Lindsey interjected and quite rudely said there is nothing wrong with them! You don’t get anything for that! At this point I have had it with her rudeness and attitude. I left the shoes and walked out. This woman does not deserve to be a manager. She has absolutely no people skills. She is rude, unwelcoming, and patronizing. I will never go back to this DSW again.
Gross Incompetence
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the level of service that I recently received from DSW. My experience with their company was by far the most grossly incompetent retail experience I have ever encountered.
On 10/13/22, I ordered three pairs of shoes for my wife, with an expected delivery time of 4-7 days. However, it took 2 weeks for the first order to arrive and another 3 weeks for the second order to arrive. To make matters worse, the first item arrived damaged, with the box literally falling apart and the shoe having terrible wear. We returned it right away, and it was received by 11/1/22, but as of now, we still have yet to receive a refund.
In the second shipment, we only received one shoe, even though there was supposed to be two. The packaging was fully intact, and my only guess is that the warehouse forgot to pack it. I made numerous calls to DSW's customer service team about these issues, and each time, the person speaking terrible English seemed nice and promised to make things right, but nothing was done.
I eventually filed a dispute with my credit card, and I was appalled to receive an outright denial from DSW, claiming that I had never even contacted them and that their system shows that I had in fact made the purchase. This is a complete fabrication, and it only serves to exacerbate my frustration.
Due to DSW's gross negligence, the $250 shoes my wife purchased ended up costing us $650, and I am deeply disappointed in the lack of customer service and professionalism exhibited by their company throughout this ordeal. I would highly advise against doing business with DSW, and I will certainly never shop with them again.
I received my order in a sealed bag…
I received my order in a sealed bag that was not damaged. However, when I opened the bag, I smelled a strong odor and the box was wet and ripped open. My fingers were blistered where I touched the box. I sent pictures to DSW and told them the story. Their response was sorry, we’ll give you $15!
DSW customer service and website are no good
I am very disappointed with the DSW website and customer service. I placed an order to be delivered and several days later received an email stating the order did not go through due to technical issues. I called DSW customer service and the two customer service representatives could not explain the issue stating PayPal would need to sort it out in 3-5 days. So, I cancelled the order because the issue could not be resolved promptly and I needed the shoes soon. I lost the 20% discount and the weekend bag that I was to receive with the first order. Then on the reorder, to add insult to injury...the site would not let me sign in...the keyboard for the password would not come up. I attempted to enter the password 5x and every attempt failed so I gave up. Because I could not sign in, I was unable to apply $10 credit I had as well as 2x points. I sent several emails to DSW customer service complaining about not being able to enter the password because the keyboard would not come up and they changed my password !!! Save yourself the trouble and order shoes elsewhere. This is the most bogus company I have ever dealt with !!!
Pleasantly surprised
I bought a Valentine's by Mario Valentino purse online. I am very happy with the purse. It was shipped in a timely manner to the store and I was notified immediately that it was ready to pick up. I was in and out with my purchase.

I have bought numerous pairs of shoes from DSW as well as accessories, i have not been disappointed in any services i received. Ive ordered online and hands dwn they were all great experiences. I went into the San Diego stores and received grea tcustomer service as well. Keep up the good work
Generally good experiences
I generally have a good experience with DSW, however, not perfect. I ordered a pair of Birkenstocks that still had the security lock on them, and another time I clearly got some returned boots that were very used. I also got two separate pairs of sunglasses (original and replacement) that were both defective. However, most of my orders tend to be great, and DSW has commendable customer service. While returning the Birks, DSW arranged a free pickup for FedEx to come right to my door because their store was too far away for me to drive. Overall, I have positive experiences with DSW.

Bait and Switch at DSW
I was shopping at the DSW in Maple Grove, MN with my son last week. I found a pair of boots I loved on the Clearance Rack that were priced at $69.95. There were stickers with this price on the sole of each boot. When I went to the cashier to checkout, the boots rang up at $155. I pointed out to the cashier that the advertised price on the boots was, in fact, $69.95, and asked her if she could correct the error. She called over a man (young with dark hair and glasses) who I assume was the Manager. His response to me was, “I’m not accusing you, but people switch the tags on merchandise all the time. The boots are $155.” Tag switching????? Seriously? Sounded like he was accusing to me, and to my grown son who was with me. Clearly, DSW is using a Bait and Switch tactic with their customers!! I was very offended, to say the least. This young man could have easily checked the cameras. In the past, any time I have shopped at a retail establishment where the tagged price differed from the actual price, that retailer has ALWAYS honored the price on the item. Mislabeling items is the fault of the retailer, NOT THE CUSTOMER!! I will no longer shop at DSW and am making sure to share tis with ALL my family, friends, co-workers and customers at my place of employment. I am disgusted beyond measure. Shame on you DSW!!

Bought a pair of boots I used 4-6 times and walked less than half a kilometer in before they started breaking down while still brand new. They suggested the damage was intentional and offered a 10% discount even after seeing the pictures. Zero accountability. Avoid this business.

Very disappointed and upset because up…
Very disappointed and upset because up to now my order hasn't arrived and no one can fix the issue. They've been covering up that FedEx has a lot of delayed deliveries which is totally NOT TRUE and seriously wrong information. They've been pointing left and right and giving coupons for what, this issue cannot be resolved just like that. Really upsetting and can't even suggest option or find a different solution. This is for the CHELSEA Dr. Martens. I am starting to not like DSW anymore because of incompetent customer services.

Been ordering Under Armour shoes at least once a year for years, flip flops, most recently a pair of winter boots back in Nov. They've always had quick shipping and customer service. Tonight blew me away, I tried to start an online return and the system rejected me. I emailed customer service and within 6 MINUTES I had a shipping label emailed back! I'll keep shopping with them!
