If I could give this 0 stars, I would!

The staff in the hotel and the spa are terrible. I didn’t get told the full information and my check in and spa was both at 3. Because I had to wait at check in (people were in front of me) I was late to the spa and the woman behind the desk was smirking as she told us she refused to give us our treatments. It looked like she was enjoying telling us it. Spoke to the manager of the hotel and he kept speaking to us like we were kids. Was told to go wait in our rooms for a phone call that never came. Totally ruined the whole experience. There was also a collection of plasters beside the pool which is gross and unsanitary. I wouldn’t even recommend this place to someone I dislike! When asked to see the manager of the spa we got told she was refused to come and speak to us. Absolutely terrible

Thank you for being our guest and providing your feedback regarding your overnight stay booked on 4 November 2024, for 28th December 2025. It is disappointing you have chosen to post this misleading review so we feel obliged to respond with the facts.

As you are aware, you received two confirmations for your spa bookings at 15.00 in our Quad Spa – the first at time of booking, and the second 48 hours prior to arrival.

You could have arrived earlier to check in, or gone for your treatment, and checked in after the treatments, as guests do every single weekend.

Unfortunately, you only arrived at the hotel and checked in at 15.10 . This meant that you were not on time for your 15.00 treatments as you only arrived at the Quad Club reception at 15.20 for your 15.00 treatments . You will note that the confirmation you received recommends that you arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to the start of your treatment to ensure that you have time to complete the medical questionnaire and are ready in time for the start of your treatment.

As explained you by the Spa receptionist, and by the Hotel Manager, our Quad Spa is fully booked every weekend, and accordingly, we do require customers to arrive in advance of their treatments to ensure that they can enjoy their full treatment. As promised, we did note to contact you in the event that we had any cancellations later that afternoon or in the morning, but all other guests arrived so we were unable to assist on a goodwill basis . The spa therapists are scheduled to perform treatments at the confirmed times for each of our spa guests, so you cannot expect to arrive when you feel like arriving for your treatment, and find the therapists ready to provide a treatment at a different time

Whilst we do sympathise with your personal circumstances, as you will appreciate, the hotel paid the therapists to be at work to perform your treatments, and they were left waiting for you due to your late arrival.

I apologise again for any disappointment but since you failed to arrive for your treatment at the confirmed time, there is nothing that can be done to resolve this and we recommend in future, arriving early for your treatments.

EV charging, coffee and a sandwich

So, I hate sitting at motorway EV charge points. Marlow now has EV Charge points and while lower power means I can sit, work and enjoy the surroundings. Plus a fabulous cup of coffee and marvellous (salt beef) sandwich. Service was excellent 👌. I'll be stopping again.

double charged credit card

paid for our room in advance, charged my card twice then said they don’t have access to the statements and to call back and they say the same thing over and over! then they said i have to contact the park and fly company and still is not resolved! avoid this scam

Terrible experience start to finish. AVOID!

We have stayed at many hotels but we have never come across a 4star hotel so disappointing as this one. It was terrible from start to finish.
I called the hotel on the phone number listed on their website and booked a king room for two adults and a child, and paid for the first night in advance. However, when we got to the hotel the receptionist told us we had to upgrade and pay extra £40/night for the child as we were not allowed to stay in a king room with a child. We told them we were never informed about this. They said it had nothing to do with them and there was nothing they could do. We asked to speak to the hotel manager who came to see us after 10minutes and told us the same thing and said we needed to call the hotel’s booking people and ask them to sort it out. The booking team apologised for failing to inform us and offered to pay the difference. We were checked in after 45min.
The hotel manger repeatedly told me that they were full and that our room was the last family room available.
The receptionist then said it was a quiet room with a nice view. It was neither: The view was to the car park, although you couldn’t see it through the cloud of condensation inside the double glazing. They said they will send maintenance to sort it out but didn’t. Ours was the only room with this problem, which is visible from the front of the hotel.
We were told that was the last room available so we didn’t mention it at first. However, checking online, they had several similar rooms still available, and cheaper.
I guess this was their thank you for all the convenience!

Regarding noise we were woken and kept awake on the first night from about midnight to 3am by loud guests in the corridors, laughing, singing and slamming the door several times.
In addition, the safe didn’t work.
Our booking included breakfast and dinner although when we went for dinner we were told that the booking was only for two adults and that we would have to pay for our child. Dinner on the first night was okay. For the amount they charged there wasn’t a wide choice with half the menu being Indian dishes.
Sauces, including salad dressing, cost extra.
The first day lunchtime and evening salads used was starting to rot.
Breakfast buffet was horrible and far below standard.
The second night it was only me and my child who went for dinner, which was pre paid for two. We asked for children’s menu as the main menu had nothing suitable for a children then we were told we will have to pay extra for the child as the prepayment is only for a three course main menu. Mind you, the price for the children’s menu is a fraction of what we had paid. I told the waiter what they were doing wasn’t fair and we were about to leave as they made us feel really uncomfortable in front of other guests. He then said i will speak to the manager and came back apologised and said it is ok to order from the children’s menu.
Breakfast the next day was terrible. There was hardly anything decent to eat. Everyone around was complaining about the luck of bread, vegetables and even cups …
I saw several guests complaining about something throughout our stay so it makes me doubt the genuineness of their 5* reviews. I know most people are not bothered to leave a review but we were fulled by these fake reviews and we don’t want others to go through the same. This place is not child friendly at all.

The swimming pool floor was dirty and slippery.
Overall, a very expensive mistake.

We will never stay at IHG hotel again.

Terrible Experience – Rude and Incompetent Staff

We supplied furniture for an event recently and were shocked by how poorly things were handled. We followed their instructions and logged our two vans as required, only to receive parking fines a week later! We've been in the event business for over 10 years and have worked with numerous hotels, but this experience was by far one of the worst.

The staff were rude and seemed to have no idea what they were doing. Their attitude was dismissive, and instead of resolving the issue, we had to go back and forth through phone calls and emails with no clear answers or resolution. It's beyond frustrating and reflects a lack of professionalism.

You can see lack of professionalism in the manner of reply below. As said before We logged in our vans, you want to go check CCTV you will see that we are there, and we did log them.
We are a business, why should we threaten negative review? But if something is wrong, it must be shared.

We are proud to provide the finest wedding facilities at our hotel, benefitting from stunning views of the lake and lawns, making Crowne Plaza Marlow the pre-eminent wedding venue in the Buckinghamshire region.

We apologise for any disappointment experienced due to your having received a penalty charge in our car park. As explained to you on numerous occasions since you contacted ourselves before threatening a negative review, the management of our car park lies with Parking Eye. The signage located at the entrance of and throughout the entire car park, instructs motorists to enter their full, correct vehicle registration into the payment machine or terminal on site. Unfortunately, as no vehicle registration details were entered by you, which you confirmed in your communications with the hotel, as you were clearly expected to do, you are liable for the reduced fee PCN.

If I can kindly clarify there are some 24 prominent notices on display across the entire car park and within the hotel, notifying the car park tariffs applicable and the requirement to register where eligible for free parking. All our Hotel guests, event attendees, spa day guests and leisure club members continue to receive complimentary parking as normal, provided they following the requisite simple procedure to register their vehicle to avail themselves of the complimentary parking, which unfortunately you failed to do.

We are very pleased that the event was a great success, despite your unfortunately rather misleading review

Broken crown plaza

Having paid in advance for this hotel located near an industrial estate it went wrong from checking in to leaving.
The man on reception decided we didn't have the correct card checking in alth.ough crown plaza was paid in advance. Concerned about a £75 deposit for potential extras we had to encourage him to use a normal credit card. We had an average dinner that night and to avoid further hassle I paid the bill.
Checking out a very aggressive man who over talked us with" bulging eyes" again refused to listen but talked AT us.
He decided we owed the room and extra costs. He said he was refunding the £75 unused security amount. What happened then shocked an offended us. He took the whole amount from our card! So we now paid twice. Phone calls and emails were continously ignored. 3rd attempt we spoke to someone with zero empathy. Again we chased and over one week later a refund appeared. No apology No email No professionalism from a so called large crown plaza group.
We use many hotels and never had such a rude ignorant and stressful experience. Sadly this night was to celebrate a birthday.

Afternoon tea about 18 months ago was…

Afternoon tea about 18 months ago was amazing. Amy the waitress was really friendly and helpful, bringing more tea etc throughout afternoon and we never felt rushed.
I am vegetarian and diabetic, so couldn’t eat some of the sweeter things. This got swapped for a little less cake and a few more sandwiches instead and scones.

Don't waste your time and money in the spa. The treatments are sub-quality, the staff are horrifically rude and when you try to speak to management to flag concerns they fob you off. The spa itself has no seating room, it's just a pool with a small jacuzzi.. It's outdated and overpriced - stay clear!

As made clear to you, the hotel does not respond to threats of negative reviews in return for free treatments.

Since you have now posted a misleading review as threatened, I am obliged to clarify the facts by way of response to this review.

It is noted that over 3 days after you had visited the spa, you first contacted the spa to advise that you wanted a refund for your manicure as you did not like the quality of your manicure. When a full investigation was undertaken into your feedback, it was noted that throughout your visit to our spa, you gave no indication to anybody that you had any issues with your manicure—neither did you say anything to the therapist, nor the spa manager who was on duty at the spa desk throughout your visit, nor the duty manager at the main reception.

The senior therapist who performed your manicure has been employed at the Spa on a full-time basis for a long time and performs all treatments, including manicures, on a daily basis. As you acknowledged in our exchange of emails, the therapist who performed our treatment was very pleasant. In fact, that same therapist receives no less than 40 positive 5-star reviews on Google or TripAdvisor each month as all her spa guests recognize what a very lovely and skilled spa therapist she is.

Absolutely nothing was mentioned by you either during the manicure or prior to your departure from the hotel, in order to allow the spa the opportunity to inspect the manicure and arrange for any concerns to be addressed at the time, which would be the normal process. Our hospitality promise requires guests to notify any concerns at the time in order to provide the Hotel with the opportunity to address such concerns, but since nothing was mentioned until over 3 days after your visit, we will not be in a position to offer any refund as subsequently requested.

As to your comments concerning our spa facilities, we have just completed the refurbishment of the beautiful lakeside spa facilities offering a 19m indoor heated pool with sun loungers, sauna, steam room, sun loungers, 4 spa treatment rooms, large life fitness gym, and also an outdoor terrace with sun loungers, overlooking our pristine landscaped grounds and lake.

lovely welcome

Check-in was smooth the guy (sorry didn't catch his name) was welcoming and friendly, gave us all the information we needed for our 1 night stay.
we had access to the spa the pool, steam room and jacuzzi was good. we had dinner and breakfast included as well, dinner service was good, food was nice was surprised that they had a selection of vegetarian food. they charged us for the dinner which was rectified immediately.
Breakfast seem to be a chaos was told to sit wherever
the staff didn't seem to care had to ask if there was a waffle as part of the breakfast (I only knew this as someone I know had been there before and was given a menu which you can order omelettes, veggie sausage desserts) which we didn't get was a disappointment as everything was going so good.
check-out was ok wasn't asked if we had a good stay. Overall room was really nice would come back again.

What a wonderful day!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Spa day which was definitely enhanced by the happy and attentive staff from the moment we entered.
A big ‘shout out’ to:-
Kitty & Ide on the Spa reception (SO lovely) and Rubendde (again so lovely and the best massage we’ve ever had).
Beautiful views on the outside terrace and very friendly service.
Well done to everyone for making our day memorable.
We’ll be back, Jacqui and Mary. 👍

The stay we had in this hotel was an…

The stay we had in this hotel was an absolute SCAM!!!! We were sold a night spa break to then discovered the spa was not accessible. Tried to complaint at reception on arrival and was answered that there was nothing could be done . Very frustrated we stayed and realised this was a complete waste of money! After we made the complaint with the service they have said other customer service were offered alternatives in a sister hotel and this made us even more frustrated as instead we were absolutely neglected!!! Can you imagine about spending 200 pounds for one night , organise nanny for your kids, dogsitting , travel two hours and to then discover there is no spa and is close? No enough words to describe this ridiculous service!!!

As already conveyed, the fact that the leisure facilities were closed for extensive refurbishment from 3rd to 16th June , was published on all websites since 10 April 2024, long before you made your bed no and Breakfast booking . In addition the very website that you booked on clearly stated in the confirmation letter that the wellness facilities were closed for refurbishment during your stay. It is unfortunate that despite all these notifications, as the wellness facilities were so important to you that you did not change your date of stay or alternatively contact the Hotel to request a transfer to our Crowne Plaza Reading East which was done for all other guests who made such a request. We would’ve been happy to transfer you, but there is absolutely no record of any conversation with our Reservations Team or With the duty manager

Cobwebs everywhere

Unfortunately our stay this time wasn't as good as previous one. If not for lovely food it would be 1 star. Although room was clean, we can't say this same for the rest of the hotel. Cobwebs everywhere, dead dragon fly's all over the ceiling in sitting area close to the lake,jacuzzi not working properly, filthy bar mirror, I could go on.
I had full body massage, and it felt like the lady isn't qualified at all. The room this was provided was poor standard with everything falling apart.

We stay on hotel over night,next day…

We stay on hotel over night,next day for breakfast we have to wait 1 hour for coffee cups,just one machine for all hotel,after I was buy coffee on bar was cost me 4,50£ over price…!!!! Breakfast was completely rubbish very old meat and fruits,after I got very strong pain stomach and diarrhea,I got as well treatment for massage,when I go in the therapist English woman was very rasist told me I’m from Rumania…!?!?! Was not true I come from Spain,I didn’t recommend this horrible hotel which one is very expensive and Rasist stuff…!!!
I will take legal action with them …!!!!

Avoid this place at all costs

Like many on here, I bought 2 spa treatments on their website after their reservations team emailed me the link. There are no instructions on the website, zero availability to book, just options to add treatments to your basket and pay for them. I bought £100 worth, which low and behold were unredeemable when I got there because their therapists were busy.

Fine, I'll just get a refund... Nope! Not allowed. Disgusting and cowardly customer service which I'm honestly not surprised about these days. The experience was completely ruined by these crooks and I'd strongly advise against going to this hotel

Crap but after service even worse

On arrival all was great. Wasn’t too worried about the filthy cups just thought they had been missed and cleaned them. BUT when went to run the bath I noticed NOT 1, NOT 2 BUT 3 big black pubic hairs!!! Later in eve I told receptionist- they logged and said NOTHING more. I emailed the hotel on my return home and got a hilarious email from the Group Operations Director accusing me that these pubes were mine 😂😂 er no they DEFINITELY aren’t!!! Her reply was unprofessional, rude and to be honest a bigger embarrassment to the company. I replied and a week later they still haven’t contacted me. My advice- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Oh and by the way they also take £75 on arrival and take 4 days to return your funds what a great business conning scheme!!
Love the solicitor response which is totally inappropriate and wrong! You try to scare people to remove their post by making out it’s them- clearly you don’t rinse a shower before use when your away hence as I rinsed the bath that’s when I saw them 😂 why should I report immediately when I am on my way out for a romantic evening?!! So I am now a liar or wrong as I didn’t contact reception immediately?!Clutching at straws I feel!! Why would I lie in a review anyhow?…I don’t expect anything than a supportive apology! In my email and photos to you I stated I wouldn’t have been bothered about the cups but the bath tipped the balance!! I also didn’t except someone cleaning bath as I had already done it! 🙄 to all public thinking of booking- you can see the care that they have for the customers- NOT! Thank you also for reminding me about the temp of the water!- I’d forgotten that bit!

I would like to apologise that we did not fully meet your expectations on this occasion.

Please also accept my apologies for the slight delay in responding earlier, l as the Hotel manager is currently on annual leave.

In order not to delay responding until his return to the office , I have taken the opportunity to investigate your feedback in great detail with all members of the team who were on duty during your stay, in addition to the Housekeeping Manager and the Maintenance Manager.

I note from our front office System, that you checked into the hotel at 3 pm. Nothing was mentioned by you until nearly 8 hours later upon your return from dining in Marlow, when you mentioned to the Duty Manager at the desk , that the mugs in your room had not been cleaned properly and also that there were some hairs in the bathtub. I am aware that he offered to attend to these issues for you immediately, but you declined his offer . He recorded your comments on our daily tracker. I note that nothing further was mentioned by you at time of departure.

Having spoken with the Housekeeping Manager , the room was serviced by a long-standing member of the team and also inspected by the Housekeeping Manager. It is further noted from the photograph that you provided with your email , that the bath in the room has been used as it is wet, and it would accordingly appear that these hairs were as a result of your use of the bathroom and not, as you have suggested, found in the room upon arrival, since you did not report this until eight hours later.

As I am sure you will appreciate, thIs would not be something that the Hotel is responsible for. Had you reported these issues upon your arrival, we would of course have moved you to different room or sent somebody from Housekeeping to address them immediately.

With regard to your comments regarding the hot water temperatures in the room, not previously reported during your stay , I would politely mention that we have not once in the past several years, received any feedback from any guest about the water temperature in the rooms, vacillating between hot and cold , as all the plumbing and boilers in the hotel are in very good working order and we do not experience such issues The Maintenance Manager has checked the room following your feedback, and he has reconfirmed that everything is working perfectly.

Thank you again, for bringing these matters to our attention. We hope to the opportunity to welcome you back in the future in order to ensure that you have a perfect stay .

We tried to request a simple order of…

We tried to request a simple order of three coffees mid morning but reception and room service did not answer the phone after several attempts. My husband was late for breakfast by 15 minutes; he is in a wheelchair and
could not get served. We are staying two nights and should have access to all facilities. However when my husband tried to order a simple lunch at about 12, he was told the kitchen was busy and he would have to wait. The quad room shower heads are rusty and worn. The quad club staff were rude when my husband was late for his massage by 5 minutes and said they would
cut the time available to him. He is disabled. On checking in I had to pay a further £700 and wait for a refund on the cards I had already paid for the rooms on. My husband was given a disabled room with a bath which he cannot access; we had to request a change. I asked for two rooms close together; we are in Room 001 and 023. I cannot see much evidence of the million pounds upgrade in the hotel.

Lost faith in a once good hotel

I have stayed here many times over the years. Never again. I stayed in August this year and left my roberto Cavalli sunglasses at reception while checking out. Rang the hotel 4 times never turned up. Family who live local going to Australia we had a family dinner so booked in again for one night did not use any of the facilities or the bar. family. Just realised they have taking £75 on top of my bill and now have to wait 3-5 days for a refund.

Breakfast this morning was a disaster. Never staying there again.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us here at Crowne Plaza Marlow back in August 2023 and for taking the time to share your feedback.

I am sorry to note that your experience was overshadowed by the fact that your sunglasses were misplaced on checkout.

If I may kindly advise, had any item been found by the reception team it would automatically be logged on our lost property listing so that any subsequent communication to claim an item could be verified before arranging safe return to the owner. Unfortunately no sunglasses were ever found by the team.

The requirement for a pre authorised sum of £75 is detailed on our website and booking confirmations so that all of our valued guests are fully aware of the hotels policy regarding this. Lovely Spa break

My partner and I went on a spa break, The room was lovely and had everything we needed, the treatments were amazing, Shame they couldn't be longer, the best part was the dinner the food was unbelievable there was a split menu of India cuisine and British cuisine that you can mix between for your courses. It was very delicious and great service. The whole team was lovely and friendly and very helpful, they got our room ready earlier for us as our treatment where before check in time which was a lovely very bonus

This place is beautiful

This place is beautiful, the food is all so delicious and the reception staff were so friendly. The evening staff were a little less helpful and we felt a little ignored at times. There was also a wedding party and while I fully understand they would have been paying more than our wowcher cost the spa experience was not as relaxed as we had hoped with alot of children and a line up for the hot tub. The bedroom was beautiful and honestly the best night sleep ive had in ages. Would defo come again.
