Unacceptable Customer Service at Ajax Pharmacy
My spouse and I hold executive memberships with Costco for several years now and our experiences have been nothing but great all round. Costco has always held its customer service experience to a high standard. Regrettably that changed this afternoon in speaking with the CSR at the Pharmacy in Ajax. The entire experience was unpleasant - she spoke in a raised voice and was obstinate and prepared to send me away without my order - that Costco had called to confirm had arrived and was ready for pickup!! I even showed her the call log but was continued to be interrogated and had to even provide private information like my date of birth all because she claimed there was nothing showing up on her computer screen for me to pick up!! Instead of an apology for perhaps the obvious confusion and offering to check with the pharmacist or a colleague - she rather I, the customer, be inconvenienced for her incompetence, and be turned away without fulfilling my order. After several minutes of defensive excuses on her part she suddenly realized my order may just be a "special order" and goes into the back room and miraculously brings me my vitamins. Brilliant! I asked her why this never occurred to her sooner and still in her unapologetic tone of voice said she was new. I told her she obviously needed more training. I did speak with the store manager, to explain the incident, however, Costco please ensure this front line customer service representative is definitely provided training in people skills and customer service. This is not the service an elderly or even an ill individual using your pharmacy should have to encounter.

100 for Canadians who are purchasing a membership for the first time. Or if you have not been a member for 18 months. Executive membership only. They did allow me to cancel on the phone with customer service. Also they want your interac number and permission for them to use your data on google cloud.

Used to be reliable. Now products we always buy are not in stock. I have an executive membership that is supposed to save me money, but If I can't buy what I need there is little point of going at all. It costs me more in gas than it does to shop there now. The store manager tells you to call in at 8:30 in the morning to see if what you need is in stock, so you spend an hour on the phone in queue. I don 't think so. They also tell you to buy on line, but again, the items I need are not listed for online sales. It's time for a change in this household. I can't handle the frustration any longer.

1. The price is so much lower than other businesses.....quite lower!
2. The after service is excellent.
3. I went in today because my right ear keeps on having problems with ear wax. No problem they took out the filter which was totally blocked and reminded me to put two drops of olive oil in both ears.
4. Then I told them I still have trouble hearing quite voices in a crowded room. No problem they added a special upgrade at no cost.

We ordered a refrigerator on Friday May 15th 2026. It was supposed to be delivered on Saturday May 23, 2026. It didn't show up after waiting all day for it. I received an email saying the delivery was canceled and we'd be notified of a rescheduling date. That never happened. After a week or so we called customer service and the person said the local delivery company would call to reschedule. That hasn't happened. We called again this morning and they said they'd look into it. We're waiting. Horrible service.

However, the returns process has become increasingly frustrating. Assigning only one or two staff members to handle returns, while requiring multiple layers of approval before issuing refunds, often results in lengthy lineups. For lower-priced items, such as those under $20, the time spent waiting can exceed the value of the refund itself.
There were always some inconveniences associated with shopping at Costco—crowded aisles, long checkout lines, and exit inspection queues—but these were generally tolerated because of the opportunity to purchase gourmet food products, unique merchandise, designer handbags, jewelry, and other specialty items at attractive prices.
Over the years, many of these advantages have diminished. It is now rare to find gourmet or truly unique products, and prices are often comparable to those at other grocery and big-box retailers. In some cases, competing stores offer better sale prices without requiring a membership fee or subjecting customers to long waits and crowded shopping conditions.
Customer service has also declined. For example, after purchasing a freezer, we requested assistance loading it into our vehicle. We waited in the parking lot for 40 minutes, but no employee ever arrived. Fortunately, another customer kindly offered to help us load the appliance.
It appears that Costco’s business model has evolved significantly since its early years. The company's efforts to attract new members by offering promotional coupons worth more than the membership fee suggest a growing focus on recruitment. However, long-term success depends not only on attracting new members but also on retaining existing ones. To achieve this, Costco should refocus on the qualities that originally set it apart: unique, high-quality merchandise, genuinely competitive pricing, excellent customer service, and an efficient, enjoyable shopping experience.

They used to be awesome
They used to be awesome. Now the delivery is always late and the last time I got a delivery it never came and UPS marked it as delivered and I had to spend more than a week calling over and over. For a store I pay to shop at. Their customer service follows up before issues are dealt with, customer service agents always tell you they will fix the problem and follow up, none ever did. It was beyond frustrating. Some people I talked with were assholes too.
I never want to use costco ever again.
Delivery issues
Just a heads up, that when they quote you a delivery date, it's just an "estimate" according to their customer service. They changed my delivery date on the day it was supposed to be delivered. Very poor communication throughout the entire process. But they were able to get my dishwasher to me eventually. I guess that's worth something. Not much though.

No stars for this company. After 6 months, still didn't get my money back. Worst, after investigation it showed they never sent any order to my home (they pretended doing it twice). That was a scam from day one.

Most horrible experience for Heat Pump and Furnace installation with Costco and Francis plumbing. They overcharge me $6000 higher compare to regular other "not costco" dealers. And installation been done after 9 visits ! I tried to get respond from costco they created tickets, told me that will call to discuss the problem but NOBIDY EVER called me !!! DO NOT DEAL WITH COSTCO !!! save your money and nerves.
Never Buy Washer/Dryers From Costco
After purchasing a washer/dryer from Costco, with white glove service, we had a horrible experience with the delivery/installation company that they outsource this work to.
The delivery company did not properly install our washer/dryer, which caused a flood in our laundry room. After filing a claim, both the delivery company and Costco are claiming it wasn't their fault, and we're left with water damage to the subfloor of our laundry room.
I would highly recommend not purchasing washer/dryers from Costco as they won't take responsibility for any damage caused during installation.

Costco still the best
It's hard to believe how many disgruntled members give one star reviews. I have been a member for 38 years and although no company is perfect, Costco has offered one of the best services I have experienced anywhere. Blaming Costco when the issue is with the product supplier can only go so far. Their Kirkland brand guarantees better product quality than most other manufacturers. Their tire shops offer good prices, good service and a great warranty. Their gas prices are always lower than the competition. Their poutine is easily the best and their hot dogs are dirt cheap. If anyone thinks they deserve a one star review, then maybe they should consider shopping elsewhere in the future. I became a member of Sam's several years ago and cancelled my membership after one visit.
