I would highly recommend John Charcol and my advisor Kathryn Nield, who was extremely helpful in finding me my mortgage. I cannot thank her enough.
Kathryn frequently kept me updated on the progress of purchasing my house, and gave me all the support I needed in finding the best product.
I completed my purchase a year ago, and every month I get a Monthly Home Report from John Charcol informing me if my mortgage is still the best product at that time.

The mortgage broker was excellent, taking a lot of trouble in finding a good mortgage for me. When things got difficult she supported and guided me through it.
However, the conveyencing department of John Charcol was incompetent, first recommending a solicitor who didn't work with the recommended mortgage provider, and then another which delayed and didn't respond until a crucial repayment deadline was missed. John Charcol's conveyencing staff were useless in sorting this out, and reluctant to recompense me for my financial loss. Finally, proper recompense to me was agreed. Overall, a very bad experience.

We have been using Charcol since the company was formed and have always received excellent professional service. Jessica Childs, our nominated Partner for the past few years has always managed to find excellent deals for our non standard complex mortgage requirements.
Emma Moores, our Client Relationship Manager for the remortgage just completed provided a superstar service managing the legal services provider and lender, keeping us informed throughout the process which put our minds at rest.
We have recommended Charcol to friends and family who have also received excellent service.

I had the pleasure of being introduced to Susy Dalby at John Charcol late in 2025, and she was absolutely excellent in facilitating my re-mortgage alongside Chantelle Parker. Throughout what was an incredibly stressful time for me personally, given that this was the outcome of divorce proceedings and that my parents were becoming unwell, Susy was incredibly empathetic and understanding. She and Chantelle communicated all requirements in a detailed and timely fashion, never leaving anything to chance. They understood the pressing nature of the situation as well as the complexity of it and their service levels were impeccable. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I approached them as a first time buyer and they helped me get a mortgage. Chris Allcock was great from start to finish - provided updates, took actions without being prompted and always kept me up to date. They also put me in touch with a conveyancer and with a life insurance consultant. All in all I'm very happy with their service.

I cannot recommend Christopher Cattell enough, he has been absolutely fantastic throughout the entire process. I had been let down by my mortgage broker and was in a spot. My mortgage was tricky and not straightforward. In addition I was running out of time. I contact John Charcol and was put in contact with broker Mike Ritchie. From the off Mike was brilliant, understood the limitations and worked thoroughly and dutifully to get the deal we wanted.
