AVOID this unprofessional, untrustworthy, inhumane, scumbags of a dealership / company
I drove 185 miles from Wales and bought a Land Rover Discovery Sport from Browns Car company on 11th March 2026.
Before even driving it off on the day it had a warning service light which the salesperson noticed and got their mechanic over to clear this warning light and informed me it should have been taken off before as the service was done.
On my way home after driving about 50 miles and while I was on the motorway, I had a gearbox fault/failure light that appeared. I immediately notified the dealership of this and was told to contact the warranty provider to have the issue resolved and they will assist.
I immediately called A1 Approved Limited (warranty company) and was instructed to take my vehicle to my local mechanic for a diagnostics which I did so the very next day 12th March 2026.
Since the mechanics diagnostic advised a gearbox specialist was needed, the car was booked in at a gearbox specialist a week later. The result was a full gearbox refurb with a quote of £3850 + vat
The warranty provider informed me that they only cover me for £1000 (£975 repairs + £25 excess) and therefore either Browns car company pays the balance, or they need to be given an opportunity to repair the vehicle themselves.
I originally wanted to cancel the deal and get my money back but was informed that they need an opportunity to try to repair the vehicle and therefore on the 27th March 2026 I met a driver from Browns car dealership who dropped off a courtesy car for me to use in the interim (for which I was extremely grateful) and they collected the Land Rover at the gearbox specialist company.
Long story short, after 2 and a half months the car had still not been repaired. I hardly got any telephonic updates and only one email response to many of my email attempts for which the guy in charge Pete told me that they are very busy during the day and check their emails at night-time and hardly ever got Pete to call me back as he was mostly unavailable or out of the office.
However, since it had been over two and a half months this was clearly an unreasonable timeframe to keep a customer waiting for a faulty vehicle that was sold to me while supposably being repaired.
The finance company Tandem were professional, emphatic and very helpful. They fully agreed with me and helped me cancel the deal and proceed with getting my money back to me.
But just when I thought this ordeal was over the situation got very nasty, malicious and in my opinion inhumane and beyond unprofessional. These scumbags of a dealership who hardly communicated with me over 2 and a half months that I waited in anticipation to get my new vehicle back to me had now phoned me on Monday the 6th July and sent me a WhatsApp message as they wanted their courtesy vehicle back asap.
I responded to them to make them aware that they would only be able to pick up the vehicle in 2 weeks’ time as I had left the day before and gone overseas as I was on bereavement leave as a family member had passed away, they never once offered their condolences and instead insisted I tell them where the vehicle was as they have a spare key and can collect it regardless, they did not care at all about my personal situation nor that I would be left stranded at the airport without a car when we return and with all my personal belonging and 2 children car seats that I don’t trust these people going through my stuff, I got threatened by them that I have until the end of the day to tell them where the vehicle was or else they would report the car as stolen and cancel the insurance.
Long story short I got a neighbour to collect the car at the airport to avoid the risk of us potentially getting a criminal record for a fake report of a stolen car since they have a right to do so, they never collected the car from my neighbours’, I came back after burying a family member to this complete waste of time and mess around and gave them the car back a few days later.
• They never sent me any requested documentation or proof of any services done to the vehicle.
• Avoided responding to any of my concerns that I questioned them on.
• I sold them my Audi for £5700 as it had an ABS pump issue with the warning light stuck on the dashboard and the very next day less than 24hrs they had got the vehicle cleaned, photographed and for sale on their website with a selling price of £8700 (+50% markup) and with a mechanical issue which I’m pretty certain they got their dodgy mechanics to clear the warning light with their diagnostics device.
AVOID this unprofessional, untrustworthy, inhumane, scumbags of a dealership / company and I wish them all the Karma in the world that they deserve.

Proceed with caution!!!
Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.
If you're looking for a stress-free car buying experience, this is probably the last place I'd recommend.
Want a car that doesn't even make it home after collection? You're in the right place. Mine developed a fault before I even made it home. After returning it, I was given a courtesy car that was in a shocking state of repair.
The courtesy car also had tyres that were already heavily worn, according to its own MOT. When one of those tyres failed on the motorway, I tried calling the garage for help but got little assistance. It was only then, while trying to sort everything out, that I discovered the courtesy car hadn't even been taxed. Imagine breaking down on the motorway only to find out the vehicle you've been given isn't taxed either.
With their approval, I paid to replace the tyre after being assured I'd be reimbursed. Spoiler alert: don't expect that refund. Despite the MOT already highlighting the tyre's condition before they handed me the car, the blame somehow ended up with me instead.
As for my actual vehicle? It sat with them for over two months, and they still couldn't fix it. Ironically, this was the same car they confidently assured me was in excellent condition before selling it, despite it not even completing the journey home.
Getting your money back is an endurance sport. Expect unanswered emails, unanswered phone calls, and, on the rare occasion someone does answer, a fresh set of promises about when you'll be refunded. Those dates come and go, but the money doesn't.
Pro tip: The only way I managed to get any response was by calling repeatedly every single day. Persistence seems to be their preferred method of customer communication.
Overall, this was one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've ever had. In my opinion, if you're looking for reliability, honesty, and after-sales support, you'll need to look elsewhere. Save yourself the stress, the time, and the money.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this company.
Just one week after purchasing my car, it broke down. The red engine management light was on, and that the clutch had been put together using super glue and cable ties (the red engine management light was a separate problem) . This was completely unacceptable and, in my opinion, put everyone in the vehicle at serious risk. The car failed and came to stop on a busy motorway, creating a genuinely dangerous situation.
After reporting the faults, I expected the company to take responsibility. Instead, they refused to provide a refund or resolve the issue. I spent over six months trying to sort things out directly with them, but they showed little interest in helping or treating me fairly as a customer.
In the end, I had no choice but to take legal action. After more than seven months of unnecessary stress, time, and expense, the court ordered the company to take the car back. This entire situation could have been resolved much earlier if the company had acted responsibly and respected its customers.
The experience was incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I would never buy another vehicle from this company and would encourage anyone considering purchasing from them to do their research carefully before handing over any money.
Also, look past the good reviews as these will pressure you to write a good review about them while in the shop as they done with us.
Great experience
Great experience, very helpful and was happy to help and go out there way.

Would recommend NOT buying a car from here. Sold me a car without completing a single request they said they’d sort on collection. Sold me a warranty that has been totally worthless. Car broke down the day after I took it home (to be told I may have stalled it)
They then kept hold of car for weeks with no communication and lied about saying it had work done at main dealer ship. I’ve now lost thousands on a car that doesn’t work.
Very professional and friendly

Everything fine up to the point of sale..
Everything fine up to the point of sale, then it all changed after that..
Had to continually chase for documents (receipt of sale, service report etc) -not a disaster in itself but annoying. Then I noticed the brakes were noisy- and getting noisier
Took car to local workshop ( good reputation, I use them already for other vehicles)-turns out ALL the brake discs were worn out/corroded/warped/below minimum thickness etc.) despite having just been MOTd AND passing through their own workshop subsequently. Had them all replaced with new pads at a cost of around £1100. When I approached Browns they told me I should have come to them first and they will not reimburse. Were not even remotely interested in the safety implications, but happy to engage a solicitor to politely tell me where to get off..
They've got a very concise complaints policy procedure, unfortunately doesn't actually mean very much. Have registered my case with the Ombudsman- will find out one day if that's worthwhile or not. On the list of car dealers I've used over the years, this is definitely at the bottom of the 'satisfaction' list by a long way
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
For anyone who believes they have found the right car with this company, I strongly advise you to reconsider.
Please do not make the same mistake I did by ignoring the negative reviews — they accurately reflect what this company is about.
On 19 December, I visited their showroom to view a Porsche Cayenne. The car was running, but it had multiple issues, including an oil leak. Ricky assured me that all the problems could be easily fixed and convinced me to leave a deposit.
After two weeks, I had received no update, so I started calling him. After numerous attempts, I finally managed to speak with him. At that point, he informed me that the car was not fixable and promised to return my deposit.
Today is 11 June — 6 months since he took the deposit — and I have still not received my money back. Despite this, the same Porsche is still being advertised for sale.
I strongly recommend that if you are considering buying a vehicle from this company, you bring an independent specialist to inspect the car before paying any deposit. Once they have your money, you are not getting it back.
