My counselor had a surgery

My counselor had a surgery, no service provided, still billed. 130.00. 2 calls to customer service number which is a messaging service. No reply. Ripped off
Counselor was great but I refuse to pay for services not performed. Scam company.

I highly recommend BetterHelp

I highly recommend BetterHelp. It allows you to have more access to the therapist, then traditional therapy. When going through traditional therapy, you only get 50 minutes and then you are left with those feelings until the next session. During that time you’re not really able to work out those feelings or even talk about them since the therapist is not available. With BetterHelp, I am able to message with my therapist in between sessions. It is not only helpful to allow you to work through your feelings, but to also be able to provide more information that the restricted 50 minutes doesn’t allow for. In the past, I felt like it always took so many sessions to really get to the root of the cause because of the restricted time. I was able to heal faster with the help of BetterHelp because of the access I had to my therapist. My therapist would answer messages twice a day so I knew I would hear from her the same day or the next morning if I sent a message late at night. I would never get that with going to traditional therapy. If I was not able to do a virtual call then I could just do a telephone call. I appreciated that because I would often times schedule my therapy when I knew I would be in my car and away from my family. It allowed me to have a session after work even later in the evening. My days off fluctuate and I work long hours, so BetterHelp is much more accommodating to my schedule. I only gave four stars because currently BetterHelp does not go through my insurance. I look forward to the day that they go through more insurance companies, but for now I will pay out-of-pocket because of the flexibility and wonderful therapist that they have. If they went through my insurance, then I would’ve definitely gave them five stars. If you are really struggling through a dark time of your life and can still afford to pay out-of-pocket than it is very worth it to go with BetterHelp. I will say that they offer great discounts to make it more affordable.

I am incredibly grateful for the support I receive from my therapist. She is compassionate, attentive, and creates a safe, non-judgmental space where I feel genuinely heard and understood. Her approach is thoughtful and grounded, and she has helped me navigate some really difficult periods with care and clarity. I always leave sessions feeling supported, validated, and more capable of coping. I couldn’t recommend her more highly

Such an seamless way to help through a…

Such an seamless way to help through a difficult time. I absolutely love the ability to find a therapist that shares beliefs and type of therapy needed. The ability to message and do homework all online is such a huge time saver and relief especially when I already felt overwhelmed! Super impressed with my therapists ability to give information that was useful that I could read in my time frame. Also loved the ease at making appointments for live sessions!! Outstanding!

honestly, shocking. poor website. poor communication, poor therapists who don't actually listen. they charge relentlessly. wish I never signed up with them

My experience her with betterhelp

My experience her with betterhelp, is a whole metaphysical journey on the quest to find myself, to better understand me myself and I, I've became emotionally intelligent, or something close to that, I reconected with my higher self, I'm hopeful and on top of all that now I begin to see my self-worth, thanks to the wonderful therapist of betterhelp and thank you Betterhelp.

Psychologen die KI-generierte Antworten verwenden! Ein absolutes No-Go. Ich zahle doch keine 240€ im Monat, wenn ich fast die selben Antworten kostenlos auch von Gemini bekomme. Zudem antwortet mir die KI innerhalb Sekunden und bei BetterHelp muss man erst einmal 1-2 Tage auf eine Antwort warten. Dann hängt sich die ganze App manchmal auf, auch noch gerade dann, wenn man die Mitgliedschaft kündigen will. Bei den Telefonzeiten hat man jeden Tag nur eine Uhrzeit, die man auswählen kann. Ich würde keinem diese App empfehlen!

Shameful. Misleading & willing to take full payment even when cancelled within 13 hours and even though unable to use any services. A counsellor wasn't even assigned when charged.

Website clearly states they do voice call sessions.

I have provided screenshots to betterhelp showing where it clearly states calls are available. They have the evidence. Additionally, they have all the relevant information they're requesting in the full email complaint.

I clearly stated I have learning disabilities I sent email asking for further help with membership as I don't have cognitive awareness of what I just signed up for - this was last night. They took full month's money without being assigned a counsellor. They didn't reach out to support myself in understanding what I had signed up for. I have learning disabilities & mental illness which they were made full aware of and are taking advantage of. They emailed me today stating voice calls are unavailable - website says different. They are fully aware I cannot continue with any of their online things yet they still charged. Don't want anyone else risking this. Customer support shameful. No help whatsoever. Between 31 Jan 2026 and 11.16am on 1/2/2026 they've already taken money, not refunding even though they know I have learning disabilities stopping me from using their services (apart from phone/voice call which website says they provide)

However, we don't currently offer member support via direct phone call at this time - perhaps that is where the misunderstanding was?

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am beyond frustrated with BetterHelp.

I was charged €240 every four weeks for over a year despite not using the service at all no sessions, no messages, no contact with a therapist. The charges continued silently until I discovered them myself.
What makes this worse is the complete lack of customer support.

There is no phone number to contact anyone.

Emails have gone unanswered.

There is no real way to speak to a human being when something goes wrong.
For a mental health company, this level of inaccessibility is deeply concerning.

Charging people hundreds of euros for a service they are not using, while providing no meaningful way to resolve billing issues, feels unethical and predatory.

I am now being forced to pursue refunds and chargebacks through my bank because BetterHelp has not responded through any support channel.

If BetterHelp wishes to resolve this, they are welcome to contact me, but so far, silence has been the only response.
I strongly advise anyone considering this service to watch their billing extremely carefully and not assume inactivity equals cancellation.

This experience has completely destroyed my trust in the platform.

We do everything we can to make it clear upfront before entering your payment information (and in subsequent billing confirmation emails) that these charges continue automatically every 4 weeks until the service is canceled! That said, if you haven't used the service, we should be able to help you through the refund process for unused time.

We provide support through email only at this time, but we respond to most emails within one business day of receipt. To ensure this gets properly resolved for you, I've requested the email address linked to your account so we can have a member of our management team reach out to you directly.

I absolutely love BetterHelp

I absolutely love BetterHelp! You get so much help that is available in many different formats, weekly one to one with your therapist, weekly group meeting with so many different options to choose from, as well as the many classes offered that are recorded so if you can't make it to the class you can still watch as many as you'd like. I didn't think I would like online therapy because I thought it wouldn't be personal enough. I was so wrong. BetterHelp has been such a lifesaver for me. My one to one therapist has been so honest with me and nudged just enough to help me see things clearly. He also knew when when to be gentle. I can't think of anything negative to say. BetterHelp has made all of this so affordable and I am so very grateful to them.

I am completely against the existence…

I am completely against the existence of such organisations online and them being allowed to charge people money for this. Particularly vulnerable people.

What regulations are there.

My honest opinion is NHS must provide mental health support 1st and foremost

What qualifications do these therapists have?.

I particularly challenge Brian Back to come forward and tell everyone on national television about how he is professionally qualified and competent in this field.

I also think it is wrong that people should be charged for this.

Professional psychological and psychiatrist professionals i still hope study medicine and if this is their expertise then we should be afforded this opportunity with real professionally competent practitioners.

Brian Back come forward and tell everyone what makes you professionally qualified to continue in what you practice and charge people money for your services. Also if you are so competent stand up be counted and represent your better help colleagues accordingly with credible evidence

Betterhelp needs to do better

Betterhelp sessions felt incredibly impersonal and quite frankly superficial. I ended up cancelling because I felt like I wasn't making any real progress. The discussions we had were mostly surface level, and I couldn’t recall any deep conversations that actually helped me. It often felt like I was just another appointment on my counselor's calendar, and I was left feeling more frustrated than anything. They often pressured me to select an appointment every week (so they could get paid obviously) that didn't work with my already busy schedule. There was poor follow-up from my counselor and customer service. The pricing is outrageously expensive for those on a budget, and I didn't qualify for their "financial aid." You are charged weekly whether you use it or not. The BetterHelp platform also leaves much to be desired. The platform randomly selects a counselor for you based on criteria you select (or even don't select)! I tried contacting customer service to find a different counselor but I just went around and around in circles with automated messages and the solutions reps offered didn't work. There was a VERY limited selection of counselors to choose from with varying degrees of experience (most of them with only 2-3 years of experience). Overall, I didn’t find it beneficial, and I would not recommend it if you’re looking for meaningful support on your time or money. This experience just came across as exploitation of my mental health and information (data mining).
