Health wise Team.

The staff in the Health wise team Louise,Sally and Jules are very supportive and kind. Reception staff are always friendly and always willing to sort out any queries.

Recently joined this gym.The Pickleball drop-in sessions are very good, all participants are friendly and have made me welcome. The gym is also welcoming with a good range of equipment.

Poorly managed centre

I wish I could separate out the instructors from the other centre staff with what I am about to write as the instructors are absolutely amazing.

Gym is poorly maintained, with cleaning sparse at best. Chewing gum which has been on walls for 3 years. In the sports hall they literally painted over it. Blood on spin room floor that over period of 5 weeks I watched turn from red to rust to flaking away to nonexistence.

The booking app is very rarely correct with classes missing or in some cases duplicated. Regular classes cancelled with no notice to paying membership because they've hired the space out to externals. Still take our membership fees each month and increase them annually for the privilege.

GLLs recent swap to the Power Music app in response to royalty fees has been an epic flop. Material that has to be used is not of the same quality. We have some instructors choosing not to offer classes that they have delivered with passion for years because of the drivel that they are expected to use. (Note no blame attached to the instructors here, in fact I think it shows great integrity to say I can't provide something of the high standard customers deserve therefore I choose not to deliver something of subpar quality)

At best management is indifferent but at times argumentative choosing to publicly shift blame over to the instructors.

We’re deeply saddened to see the comments you’ve raised regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and communication at our centre.

We've shared your concerns with our wider team for further review.

We also apologise for the frustration caused by any inaccuracies on our Better UK App and any last-minute class cancellations.

We always aim to minimise disruption; however, there are occasions when we’re unable to secure a replacement instructor at short notice or when the space is already committed to another booking.

We're sorry for any inconvenience or frustration this has caused.

Regarding the change in music licence, in late 2025 we became aware that the cost of our current music license that covers all our 250 leisure centres and gyms across the UK would increase significantly. As a charitable social enterprise focused on community benefit, we carefully reviewed our options to ensure we continue to invest our resources responsibly and sustainably.

Following this review, we asked our fitness instructors to transition to PPL pre-cleared, royalty-free music. This approach allows us to manage rising costs while continuing to deliver the high-quality classes you expect.

In practical terms, all instructors are being provided with free access to Power Music; one of the most widely used fitness music platforms. Power Music enables instructors to create their own playlists using professionally recorded studio tracks (not AI-generated), giving them flexibility while ensuring full compliance with licensing requirements.

Very helpful staff

If you're on the waiting list for a class and a spot opens up, we email everyone on the list. We operate on a first-come, first-served basis to keep things fair. We also have a maximum capacity for our waiting lists to keep everything running smoothly.
If you do get an email but find the link tricky to use, no worries at all. Just log into your account, head over to "My Bookings," then "Waitlist," and you can easily remove yourself from the waiting list and book as usual.

Rules

The gym is good but rules aren’t the best, should be able to use SOME free weights and have more freedom on different machines especially when closer to the age of 16, the time slots and session length are minimal too, there should be a wider range of times you can go as a junior and should be able to stay longer than 40 minutes.

Good Local Leisure Facility with Theatre, too!

I moved to North Kesteven recently and visited the ONE NK Centre at North Hykeham to enquire about Gym membership. The staff were friendly and helpful. One of the Managers, Phil, offered to show me around the gym and and was really helpful with his recommendations about classes. I also discovered that the centre has a small theatre and have now been to see 2 shows there; it's a lovely venue and has some really good shows coming-up, too. Would recommend to anyone living locally.

It is a great place for swimming for…

It is a great place for swimming for fitness easy to enter and can book times around the busy times. Staff are very pleasant and helpful and the areas are always clean and tidy

I really enjoy this gym and the nice…

I really enjoy this gym and the nice atomosphere the only thing I would recommend would be to get a AB machine and stair master as these are what I live to use in the gym and I have been told by others that they wish there was one too.
