Audible UK Poor Customer Service
Audible UK
Service was inadequate. Service provider seemed only aware of how to download sale titles using mobile phone.
I have used my laptop for downloading titles for 11 years so why change? I explained this. She typed "I have explained how to resolve" or words to that effect and that was it! I later resolved problem myself using laptop!!
If I could give less than one star I would.

What is wrong with Amazon that the playback cuts out. It's the same with Amazon music. Spend a bit more time on the services being provided instead of grandstanding with weddings and tedious hen parties in space

Audible appears to have hacked into my online radio as there are ads repeated over and over again making the station un listenable.
Terrible "Customer Service"
A terrific service when it's working. The problem is the absolute travesty that is their customer services. Utterly useless, reading trouble shooting from a screen that you have already done, very poor grasp of English. From such a multi national company, this is appalling
This is my second complaint about this…
This is my second complaint about this company in two months.
I ceased to have anything to do with them sometime back due to their extremely poor service, inferior products and extortionist tendencies.
Audible.co.uk somehow continues to obtain money through a direct debit which i cancelled three months ago. My bank insists I talk to them. They are apparently unreachable!
Today they are walking away with my £11.10 and next month they will do it again and get away with it.
Over complicated & Tedious to cancel so don't even start
I have been audible member for sometime & it's been fine.
Chosen to cancel which is not an easy task.
I will NEVER NEVER use Audible ever again as so incredibly tedious to cancel.
Come on Audible....treat us with respect and I would happily return but not now
Customer service is atrocious
Customer service is atrocious. I had a tech problem, spent an hour and half with 3 different agents, not one of them was listening, not one understood the problem, kept asking me to do the same thing over and over, I put it to them if logging out and back in hadn’t worked the first 3 times, there wasn’t much point trying again … I was told I was being uncooperative.
Finally solved the issue for myself with advice from a friend. Really simple, they should have been able to help.
On speaking to a ‘leader’, the only compensation for wasting so much time and useless tech people was that I could have a reduced offer if I continued my membership. I really hate when the only compensation is a bit of rebate if you want to continue …. I don’t want to continue and will never use again,
In the UK, use Libby via your local library, it’s free.
Not recieving OTP messages, lost account with 200 titles...
All well until one day they stopped sending me OTP texts to log into my audible.
I have over 200 titles and still keep paying monthly for over a year now without access in hopes I can at some point be reinstated, but I'm losing hope...
I spoke to advisors around 20 times, always verifying myself, I spoke to technical, account change team, direct Amazon support and raised over 10 tickets, submitted my IDs for two step recovery numerous times. Nothing ever happens... They raise tickets and then it's silence... It's really sad as I paid for all titles on my account sometimes more than just monthly credits...
I’m so very disappointed with Audible
I’m so very disappointed with Audible. My Amazon account was hacked so the only option I had (since there is no way of receiving help from Amazon) was to shut down my account. This meant my audible account automatically closed too-meaning I lost access to all the purchases I’d made. I reached out twice to audible and was assured they were looking into the case yet I’ve heard absolutely nothing. To be fair, I’ve since realised I can get audible books for free via my library however it leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth. The company clearly has complete disregard for its loyal customers.
Shameful customer care
I’ve been a loyal customer for many years like many on here now I’m looking to move to an alternative provider. Firstly I didn’t realise that even though you pay for your credits they take them back if you don’t use them within six months. Why I paid for them how can they just taken them back. Secondly they spend my credits for me. I’ve noticed my 5 credits went to 4 I noticed a new book in my library. I thought I must have downloaded the book and forgotten but this week 5 credits dropped to 3 and 2 new books in the library (both not great).
I tried to contact customer service- there is none. What a shame I used to really enjoy Audible but now it’s a money making could care less about customers company. Shame
Feels like a trap
Feels like a trap! What initially was a smooth customer service turned into a chatbot that doesn´t solve your problem + NO HUMAN ASSISTANCE throughout the process—horrible customer care experience.
ADDITIONAL CHARGES
I’ve been a loyal Audible customer for many years and have spent a significant amount with them, but sadly, I’ll now be looking for an alternative audiobook provider.
Recently, I went to purchase additional credits on my iPhone. The price showed as £32.99, more than the usual £28.99 I was used to. I assumed it was just a price increase, possibly due to inflation. However, a colleague using the same app on a different device confirmed they were still seeing the lower price of £28.99.
I contacted Audible customer support to ask about the discrepancy and was told that the higher price was due to third-party charges associated with using an iPhone. I explained that I pay Audible directly for my membership and purchases, not Apple, but was told there was nothing they could do.
It’s incredibly frustrating to be penalized for the platform I use, especially without any prior notice or transparency around the pricing differences. For a service I’ve supported for years, this feels like a poor way to treat loyal customers.
Audible may still be a good platform in terms of content, but this experience has really changed how I view their customer care and pricing practices.
Horrible experience!
Horrible experience!
I woke up with my account close and I cannot access the customer support because my account was closed without doing nothing
Now I need to pray for miracles to contact them to make my account active again because I have books that I didn't read
And not to mention I lost all the library and and all the books I paid for!
Horrendous app
How can such a huge company create such a unintuitive user interface???
I actually got a 3-month free subscription today and uninstalled it after just 20 minutes of trying to understand how to navigate the app.
I could probably design a better app after drinking 10 pints of beer while giggling on the floor.

Their 3 months free trail was cancelled by them after only a month - no explanation and no way of finding out why
Who would use such a terrible service as this?

Signed Up for a Trial, Stuck with a Headache
I signed up for a free trial and forgot to cancel it, and now I’m having trouble deleting my account. So far, no one has helped me with the process. This doesn’t seem like a great marketing strategy—frustrated users trying to cancel their accounts and receiving no support at all.
Rubbish
Rubbish. The selection of books that are free is extremely poor. You need to pay top prices for anything worth listening to. And they make it incredibly awkward and difficult to cancel. Have used it a few times now for holidays but I'm done with it now - really, really poor. No wonder there are so many negative reviews.
Audible don't have booksmarts
Books that I paid for were removed from my library. I wasn't given any notice this was going to happen or that it had happened. My first attempt to resolve this was a failure. The second interaction resulted in a refund - except I was refunded with book credits, I wasn't asked if I would like a cash refund which I wanted. I'll never use Audible again and would advise anyone interested in Audiobooks to give Audible a miss.
Audible fraud or data breach
On 4th July I asked the CSR to put a complaint against Audible for fraudulently charging me for $14.95 on my credit card account. Initially I was told that all billing issues should go via Apple. This was incorrect and was later confirmed by a manager once I managed to get one. I am tired of being told they know how I feel. It is incredible that the UK organisation are incapable of raising this issue with the US marketplace. It has taken over three hours out of my day and it is still not resolved, I have now submitted a full complaint and raised this as a fraudulent activity. My card is cancelled and I now have additional inconvenience due to Audible. I will be continuing to raise this issue with Audible and Amazon management. UPDATE I have now cancelled my credit card, rejected the payment as fraudulent and raise again the issues with Audible.co.uk. Your marketplace holder in the US does not have authority to take this payment and if necessary I have screenshots of this. The confirmation from Apple on the 3rd July. A day before of the cancellation. Your own cancellation on the 30th June. Audible has been blocked by M&S credit card and Mastercard of taking any payments. I will now contact Amazon and I will not update my credit card details on their account until they acknowledge the fraud by one of their subsidiaries.
FURTHER UPDATE. I have now submitted an SAR against Audible UK because they have zero integrity or competence - they cannot be trusted. After hearing nothing from them since early July they trot out the same lies. They tell me they cannot communicate with the US, another marketplace. But the US is allowed to defraud me through the UK subsidiary. This is either a serious data breach or fraudulent activity. Audible you have 30 days from today to provide me with all data in my name including internal communications, phone calls or emails to me. If not received by the 22nd August 2025, I will hand this issue over to the Information Commissioners Office as a GDPR breach. By submitting a Subject Access Request against this awful organisation it commits them to provide all data including recorded calls and internal records involving my name or account information. Next stop rogue traders or Martin Lewis on the TV. UPDATE TO AUDIBLE’s REPLY - you are obviously unable to read this Audible! You have a Subject Access Request against your organisation. You have 30 days to respond. If not I will report you to the Information Commissioners Office for non compliance. No need for more emails from me! You’ve had my complaint from 4th July 2025. As of yesterday, the 20th July you have done nothing despite your empty promises. Now get on with it
FURTHER UPDATE
Good morning.
I served a subject access request against you via customer support and a phone call.
I have not received the information as requested so I will now contact the Information Commissioners Office for the breach of statutory obligations.
This is in response to failure of Audible.co.uk to investigate a fraudulent charge from my credit card account of $14.95. I had to cancel my credit card and claimed this unauthorised charge from Mastercard via M&S bank.
Please also note I had a recent notification from Audible to update my card details so you can continue to charge me.
Amazon, Audible UK and US will never be trusted by me again.
Please ensure you provide me with the required information, including copies of text, email and phone recordings soon so that I can continue with the action against Audible. Avoidance culture is unacceptable against UK GDPR regulations.
LATEST UPDATE
Hello Ian,
Thank you for contacting Audible.
After further review, we see this email address was enrolled in an Audible US (Audible.com) membership. A 30-day free trial was started on June 4, 2025. The title The Great Cholesterol Myth, Revised and Expanded was added to your library on the same date. Since the membership wasn't canceled prior to the trial ending, it rolled over to a paid membership.
We have canceled your Audible US membership. In addition to this email, you will receive an automated email with the subject “We’re sorry to see you go.”
We have issued a refund of $14.95 back to the same credit card. Depending on the bank, a refund can take about 7-10 business days to appear in your account. If the card has been canceled but the account is still active, the refund will still be issued to your account.
If you need more help, please let us know.
Sincerely,
THIS IS A RESULT
Use the Subject Access Request as a method to resolve any issues with Audible. I never got my date from them but it forced them into a result. Important points. Membership cancelled but I’m still able to access my books.

I did, didn’t like it, and cancelled right away — which wasn’t easy. Still, I got charged €9.99. Super disappointed.
