Following my fathers Asbestosis diagnosis we contacted James Cameron ( Oliver & Co Solicitors) and arranged a meeting to discuss whether we could pursue a compensation claim. I lost my mother to mesothelioma and was not sure about claiming compensation through secondary exposure. The staff at Oliver &Co were dealing with a case for my now late father. The case had been progressing steadily prior to his passing, on his death I met with James at the office who took time to explain events to date and the process and options going forward. It was clear from this the support my late father had been given. All relevant papers were sent for the process to continue and each step and potential outcomes explained. The process is now nearing a full conclusion and as a novice in tbese matters the family could have asked for more from james and his colleagues.

In a routine x-ray I was told I had mesothelioma. I am an 86 year old man who lives independently, I am very fit and fairly healthy. I was totally taken back in shock. I don't typically subscribe to the compensation mentality so was highly skeptical before embarking on the whole process with James of Oliver & Co. From personal experience and pre-judgements I had previously had a dim view of compensation lawyers..........but how wrong can you be!!
There are no words which will ever convey the gratitude I feel to James for the compassionate, caring, highly professional and patient way in which he dealt with me and my Dad's case EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY.
Nursing Dad with my Mum until his death was the most painful and challenging experience of my life. James brought comfort and kindness at a time when it was so very important. There were all kind of above-and-beyond-the call-of-duty touches such as the ultimately human and caring 'thinking of you' message on the day of Dad's funeral.

James always responded instantly to all emails and phone calls - it seemed he was always there for us. What is more James never made me feel like I was rushed or his time was short - every conversation took as long as it took even if he had to listen to me pouring out emotion. He patiently explained (sometimes many times) things which either Mum or I didn't understand. That is not what I expected.

Ultimately James secured a compensation payment for my Mum in a surprisingly short period of time. He dealt with everything - always making me feel we were in safe and capable hands - and made the entire process as easy as possible.
I catalogue of superlatives would not begin to describe my opinion of James and it is hard to give him the praise he deserves without a degree of gush. If only every lawyer operated in this way.......

The news that a family member has an asbestos related desease is in itself a mind field of emotions and to have an expert to deal with the legalities and all the information that has to be gathered is a great relief.
