Was an absolute the worst experience. I had to keep asking the same question over and over .. vehicle i was looking for was not available... which happens .. I asked for delivery, which was not available.. then after all that my payment method was not acceptable.. I wouldn't advise anyone to make use of their service, other than in Cape Town .. use other providers for the rest of South Africa.. if i could give less than 1 star i would

Hiring cars is nightmare, worldwide, except in South Africa, thanks to AroundAboutCars. I'm a regular visitor to the Mother City and for many years have used Kaydee, and her fantastic team, to secure me the best deal. I'm usually an advocate for going straight to the supplier, rather than through an 'agent' but, for car hire, I go directly to AroundAboutCars. They get the best prices (without hidden extras) and, as happened twice in ten years, if I get a problem with the hire company then the team at AroundAboutCars take all the worry out of my hands and sort the problem for me! They are brilliant!

Wir haben nach 10 Jahren Südafrika, das erste Mal bei Aroundaboutcars gemietet und es war eine wunderbare Erfahrung. Die Abwicklung war extrem unkompliziert und super nett in der Kommunikation. I have now hired several cars through Aroundaboutcars from Cape Town and OR Tambo. Website is easy to use, confirmed bookings come through quickly. I like the executive cover with zero excess and I can never find a better price through other consolidators. Hire is usually with Avis or Tempest and they are always quick to respond to any queries

Auf unserer Südafrikareise haben wir 2 Mal ein Auto bei AroundAboutcars gemietet. Einmal 10 Nordosten) und einmal 5 Tage (Südwesten). Der Preis war sehr fair. Die beiden Pkw waren Mittelklassewagen und waren sehr zuverlässig. Da ich aufgrund meiner Behinderung einen Pkw mit einem speziellen Umbau (Handgas) benötigt habe, wurde mir dieser von AroundAboutcars zur Verfügung gestellt. Die ganze Abwicklung und Klärung dazu, plus ein paar extra Fragen, wurden immer zeitnah, professionell und sehr empathisch beantwortet. So einen guten Service habe ich noch nie erlebt. Dafür gibt es dann unter dem Strich 6 Sterne!

Seit Jahren benütze ich Aroundaboutcars für den jeweils dreimonatigen Aufenthalt in Südafrika. Wir haben für 17 Tage im November 2025 einen Mietwagen über die Firma gebucht. Die Kommunikation im Vorfeld der Buchung, Rückfragen und Wünsche erfolgten äußerst schnell und freundlich. Das Gefühl mit seinen Fragen nicht allein gelassen zu werden, half außerordentlich. Die Möglichkeit, auch in Deutsch zu kommunizieren, fanden wir sehr hilfreich.
Wir erhielten am Flughafen problemlos unser Fahrzeug, ein Upgrade erfreute uns um so mehr.
Alles funktionierte reibungslos, das Fahrzeug war fast nagelneu. Auch im Nachhinein wurden Anfrage freundlich und schnell beantwortet.
Wir waren sehr zufrieden, können die Firma absolut weiterempfehlen und werden bei unserem nächsten Südafrikaurlaub wieder hier buchen.

Rented a car from them a couple of times and I am still going to do so soon. The booking is made easy. Picked up the car at OR Tambo and that car was in a very good condition, almost new with just few kilometres, the deposit was paid back to us within a promised time frame. I would recommend their services to anyone.

Wir fühlten uns von der ersten Anfrage an gut betreut. All unsere Wünsche und zwischendurch Änderungen wurden freundlich erfüllt. Sie waren jederzeit erreichbar und auch als wir mitten im 'Nirgendwo' eine Panne hatten war Hilfe sofort erreichbar.

Car was in perfect condition and good on fuel.

Die Abwicklung an den Stationen funktioniert extrem zügig und die Autos sind in TOP ZUSTAND!

I have a good experience with AroundAboutCars. I wanted to rent a car in Cape Town, but I didn’t have a credit card, so my choices were limited. I discovered AroundAboutCars and decided to give it a try. They have friendly customer support, no hidden fees and good prices.

During the booking process the staff was very helpful. We rented a Fortuner 2x2 at O R Tambo and received a pretty new one with only 20.000kms. The price was very reasonable and we didn`t have any problems with the car. After having driven 4000 km , mostly through Kruger NP, we returned the car at the same AVIS station in Johannesburg. If we ever return we definitly will rent our car at Aroundaboutcars again.

Wir haben zum ersten Mal bei dieser Firma gebucht und waren wirklich begeistert! Wir wollten ein bestimmtes Auto haben und das hat dann auch wirklich geklappt! Es wurde immer sofort und sehr freundlich geantwortet und man hatte wirklich den Eindruck, dass alles möglich gemacht werden sollte und auch wurde! Ich kann nur eine 100-prozentige Weiterempfehlung geben und werde auch selbst hier sehr gerne wieder buchen!❤️❤️

Günstiger als die Konkurrenz und vor allem:

Super toller Service - schnell, zuverlässig und über die Maßen unterstützend und hilfsbereit! Leider hatten wir einen kleinen Blechschaden und es wurde zunächst unberechtigt Geld von first car rentals abgebucht. Aber auch hier wurde es schnell geholfen und das Geld wieder erstattet.

Renting at Skukuza Airport was completely straightforward and super quick, as was returning the vehicle in Skukuza. We booked a vehicle through Tempest and got an almost new and well-equipped Ford Fortuner. We'll be happy to use them again on our next stay!
