Fridge has a funny fishy smell to it and consideration should be made for the time of year when requesting bedding. I hired in August and only received a bottom sheet and a summer quilt, no additional blankets for a winter booking. I guess I could have been asked the question if I needed more or even given extra just in case.
I have hired similar in New Zealand which had heating which worked if gas and Apollo Perth only have heating that runs of 240v power

Nice staff members, great caravan condition, very customer oriented.

Overall great but a few small issues. The fridge was very noisy and needed to be turned off at night. The kettle was for gas top only, an electric kettle would be good for when we had power. Would have liked a small camping toaster for use on gas cooktop when we had no power

The motorhome ,unlike previous times we have hired, was not fully operational and stocked which we did not discover until we were on the road. I feel the Perth team are not as diligent as other depots. A drawer would not close, one burner did not work on the hot plate, the water pump continuously cycled. Friends hired at the same time and the original motorhome offered was dangerous with sharp edges on the table and very dirty. The depot replaced the van with a ‘newer’ model that had very high KM and was no different in quality to the Apollo brand. It had differing amounts of kitchenware and only 1 set of sheets for a 6 berth.

Overall experience was good, we were first-time campervan users. Staff was friendly (but forgot to hand me the keys to get our vehicle started), could have actually explained more in detail about the waste water, fresh water and toilet water system, had to prompt more before he explained, and we spent some time figuring out.

The experience at the Lexi depot in Perth was wonderful. The staff was friendly, informative, and provided an excellent tour of the campervan.

However, there were some issues with the setup. The front camera kept malfunctioning while driving on cruise control due to moisture in the area. Additionally, the sensor on the sliding door was causing the cruise control to disengage unexpectedly.

Excellent experience from booking online to pickup to drop off. Campervan was met all expectations. Professional service and top notch product.

Driving the vehicle itself was fine, but our service with checking in was disappointing. In many instances the vehicle was missing items. During the trip itself our solar controller randomly malfunctioned (waking us in the middle of the night) and the 3 way gas fridge needed to be reset every time we transitioned from driving (engine power) to gas (parked).

I was advised to be at branch by 4pm otherwise I would have to come back the next day. The airplane was one hour late and I phoned the branch from the tarmac at 3.20 to advise them.By the time I got there it was 4.03. Manager was there serving a customer but told me to come back tomorrow. I told him two family members had already got vehicles and we were to meet them at our first caravan park. He wouldn’t help.

Will hit you with payment fees not in the rental price. If you don’t get their insurance they’ll sting you for $7,500 deposit. Fuel cover fell off mid driving, main cabin light only worked 50% of the time. One of the gas elements in the stove didn’t work properly. And a few other things that were just inconvenient. Left totally unsatisfied and will not use Apollo again.

Overall was a fairly good experience with booking and Apollo personnel in general.

However, the LDV van was very noisy, cruise control would cut out intermittently and we had a concern coming back to Perth at dusk when the motor went into limp mode it almost stalled with no power.

This problem went on for at least 2 hours before coming good and returned the next day.

Helpful staffs. Allow yourself decent waiting time for a pick up. My camper had repetitive engine issues, but roadside staffs were very helpful every time.

Pick up was quick and clear and I was able to use the features of the motor home.

Return was quick and simple.

Motor home drove well had agreat fridge and the cooler was proceless.

When we had a blowout back up service was quick thorough and allowed us to continue our holiday without trouble.

The check in process was simple and efficient. The camper was clean and well maintained.
We had a minor mechanical issue that was resolved prmptly by the support team

My friend and I hired a campervan from Apollo for a 14-day trip along the Western Australian coast in May 2026. The van was booked well in advance. On Apollo's website it was advertised a newer fleet of vans were becoming available from May.

Unfortunately, the vehicle we received in Perth was significantly older and more worn than expected. There were several issues from the start, including non-functioning 12V charging outlets, the entertainment/nav system worked intermittently, the TV didn't work, the wiper was so bent that it was not making contact with the windscreen, and the sliding door would occasionally open while driving.

The major issue occurred halfway through our trip when the check engine light came on. We immediately contacted Apollo and, to their credit, they arranged for a local mechanic to attend promptly.

After inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic advised that the van was experiencing a turbo-related fault and entering "limp mode." He explicitly told us that he would not recommend driving the vehicle any further or taking it far from town. We were instructed to contact Apollo for further instructions.

Initially, Apollo advised that they would arrange a replacement vehicle and tow the existing van. We were flexible and even offered to accept a lower-spec van to help resolve the situation.

However, after multiple calls, Apollo informed us that they would not be replacing the vehicle. We were told this was because it would cost approximately $7,500 to transport a replacement van to our location and recover the faulty vehicle.

Apollo then argued that because the van had occasionally felt underpowered earlier in the trip, we should have reported it sooner. The problem with this explanation is that there were no warning lights, alarms, unusual noises, or any indication that a serious fault existed. The van was as slow and unresponsive in 'limp mode' as it was driving 'normal.

We contacted Apollo immediately once the check engine light appeared and the fault became apparent.

Most concerning was Apollo's proposed solution: continue driving the vehicle despite their mechanic's recommendation not to do so, and call them again if it broke down completely. I told Apollo that there is limited reception between towns and their response was to walk until we found an emergency phone along the highway!

The alternative offer by Apollo was for us to make our own travel arrangements at our own expense, but only after we drove the van 800km to town.

We had purchased Apollo's premium insurance and additional cover specifically because we were travelling long distances in remote areas. When we needed support, we felt abandoned.

Based on our experience, Apollo was unwilling to provide the support we reasonably expected after a serious mechanical issue arose during our trip.

Very disappointing experience, and I would not book with Apollo again.

First vehicle offered at Perth depot completely unacceptable, second vehicle offered passable. Service at depot lengthy and disjointed. Too few experienced staff on duty.
Fridge didn't work for 8 days, missing 'paid for' camping inclusions, broken lock on kitchen awning.
Extremely disappointing considering we are return customers, though its a service industry so customer service should be a priority.
Difficult to call a branch, all calls go to a call centre, probably in New Zealand.
Absolutely no 'quality control', care or thought in the presentation of the vehicle. We at times wondered if the vehicle was fit for purpose.
