We booked a large MPV for a transfer to Abbeywood Station for a flight booking.
This booking was made five days in advance and we had a booking confirmation/reminder beforehand.
However on the morning of our transfer, no car turned up and when we called to see what was the delay, we were informed by a very poor english speaking lady that they cannot fulfil our booking for another 40 mins!
We were panic stricken as this impacted on our flight check-in and if I had not called to chase no one at Amber cars would have bothered to get in touch, just left all 9 of us with suitcases waiting.
Do not use this horrendous car service.

Phoned up to book a cab this morning to be told it is gonna cost me 30 quid from thamesmead to Darenth Valley hospital & when I told him on the phone I can get it for cheaper than that he told me to "do one" and get off the phone! RUDE STAFF AND RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!

From Amber cars going under new ownership they are not reliable what so ever even when u pre book a taxi still arrives over 20mins late.. I use these 4 times a week definitely will be taking my custom else where!

Be very careful of this company - was involved in an RTC on Friday due to your driver not looking at a junction - driver didn’t check I was okay and neither did the company - avoid!!

I always like to use Amber cars.I cannot understand all the negative reviews. They've always arrived on time, the cars are clean and drivers very pleasant. I will use again

Used there app booked taxi they have taken the money and then cancelled car after 20 min have to wait 2 _ 3 days get my money back then want to rebook and charge me again company is a joke use with caution ⚠️ will be informing my bank and won't use again shame because are usual drivers are not the problem its the shambolic company left me and my wife stranded and taken my money

This company are a joke. We booked an airport transfer 5 days in advance We called the morning of departure an hour before we were due to be collected and they still confirmed the booking
However the driver didn’t turn up We called them and were informed they didn’t have a car available
As a result we missed our flight which resulted in £650 in flights costs for our family

Absolutely disgraceful, and I hope Amber cars should be ashamed of themselves

Been using this taxi service for years. I book on line then pay by card. Looking at my bank statement I’ve been charged for my journey, then other amounts have been taken out straight after. Found out by the bank this started in February this year. It’s not huge amounts but a couple of pounds each time. If you used Amber like this check your bank statement asap! I was given an email address by Amber to let them now what’s happened. They didn’t seem bothered, I have now deleted my app, I will never use this taxi service again.

It's not just here they have bad reviews. There is a reddit thread titled amber_taxis_possibly_the_worst_taxi_company_ever

Terrible company. Booked 2 taxis for a given morning. First one got me to the station late because the driver took a slower route. When I complained, they advised I should have told the driver my preferred route. I would expect this if my route was unusual but all I wanted was the quickest route otherwise it is like booking in an engineer and the engineer asking me how I would like the boiler fixed.

Second taxi didn't turn up after 10 minutes of waiting. I recommend Uber.

This company are a joke. Never turn up on time. Even booking well in advance they still don't turn up in time. They make me late almost everyday. Most of the drivers are rude and lazy. Done with this company.

Booked a car to pick us up for Gatwick airport, gave them the time and flight number. They had delivered us to Gatwick with no problem. Our flight was on time, so as we waited for our luggage we rang to check that the car was on the way. They said it was, but a few minutes later we received a confirmation text and the tracking said that the driver hadn't even left. After several phone calls to the customer support and the driver we were told there was a delay. We eventually ended up waiting 1.5 hours. In the cold in the middle of Gatwick airport. The driver arrived, was completely unhelpful and took 2 hours to get us back home. Twice the length of time the journey normally takes, listening to TalkSport all the way. Terrible service, terrible driver. And when we complained to the company they just ignored it.

I was charged extra for my taxi fare because I used my Debit Card to pay for it.

I asked the driver and he said they always charge extra for using cards. I went online to Trading Standards and was told that there should be no extra charges for paying for taxi fares or anything else for that matter by card

I rang Amber cars and asked them why they are charging extra for using credit cards to pay for fares and I was told it wasn't them it was Airpay that adds the charges to taxi fares that are paid by card.

I have now emailed Airpay to find out why they charge and once I find out I will be making an official complaint to Trading standards.

I have to pay by card because there are no banks, post offices or ATM's near where I live so it has become more difficult to always have cash in my purse as there is nowhere to draw cash out.

To be charged extra for using cards because the banks and post offices have made it more difficult to access cash is disgusting.

COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE.
Booked 12hrs in advance. No driver arrived and no notification either and more importantly, they don’t care!!

This compny is scamming to customers.
It’s been continuously last 7 mounths when I book car they never on time and not exact on my pickup destination.When I complained they said book car 15 min before my require time than car be on time I book same what that said and drivers not even on time more than 40 min late.
I missed my appointment witch are most important and I’m pregnant but driver behaviour like most aggressive and dangerous.not recommend never this company .it’s amber cab plumstead high street London

After ordering a taxi for a set time, I was informed by text at the time the taxi should have been with me that it was 15-20 minutes away! I wanted it for the time I asked for, not later! I had to cancel and luckily got a lift with someone. I do appreciate there are traffic issues and the like but surely they can do better than that!

I hired a taxi to take me to Cleckheaton from Leeds to a company called Pro Accoustics. The driver did not know where he was going and we were driving around for ages till he eventually found it. The fare came up to £73 there and back. The following day I used Amber again and the driver knew where he was going and the charge one way was £28. Please check the driver knows where he going before going on a journey. Normally Amber are ok but that experience left a nasty taste as well as a hole in my purse!

I can’t be bothered going into detail about this company. Only to say there absolutely useless and should not be used by anyone

Still waiting, 40 min late so far after pre booking…..
Would appear you don’t actually book on their app, you just log the time you would like your taxi (is there a difference?!), they only look for an ‘available partner’ in your area at the actual time you have requested….. so no different than just trying to book one yourself at the time you need it….. if it’s ’peak Time’, expect to wait a long time….. I still am, 45 min and counting….. gave up at an hour.... booked an Uber, bit more expensive but at least they turn up and you actually book a car so you know exactly where it is from the point you book it..... Thanks Amber.
