Everytime I call to dispute a transaction they either force me close my account or force me to get a new card which is unnecessary. At this point I’m no longer banking with Ally.

Poor communication

Poor communication, updated my address, never received any documents about a repossession, repossessed my vehicle, sold it at auction, no paper trail of the entire process, funny thing is they knew my address when picking up my vehicle, but cant mail nothing!Customer service sucks, people who answer the phone are not helpful at all! Can't answer questions and downright clueless. On part 2 of this disaster, I have a second vehicle financed, reporting to credit bureau its current and they saying im 3 months behind, once again not documents, no email, just a call with someone mumbling and hanging up.Went on there website to log in to view my account, they cant locate my account?

I looked on the app was caught up, they came today on a Sunday to repo my truck now look at the app it says I was behind by 6700 and owe 73,000, it's Sunday my only vehicle and I have to work tomorrow. And they are not open. They are so unprofessional on anything never again

Ally Financial doesn't align with customer values

I had a spotless payment history on my auto loan with Ally Financial. I never missed or was late on a single payment. When I paid off my loan early in order to finance a new vehicle, Ally closed the account — but claimed I still owed one final payment that came due the same day the loan was closed.

I never received a normal bill, statement, or alert that this “final payment” existed. I got an alert from Credit Karma that there was a negative impact on my credit. What I discovered is that Ally reported the account as past due to the credit bureaus, causing a drop in my credit score. Once I found out about the amount I attempted to make a payment which they cancelled.

This is absolutely irresponsible for a financial institution to treat its customers the way Ally has treated me. A lender should never report a consumer delinquent without clearly billing them and giving them a reasonable chance to pay. Ally had my contact information, my banking details, and full knowledge that the loan was paid off. I have documentation from Ally Bank stating "... all obligations have been satisfied." And yet they still linger negatively on my credit report.

This experience has shown me that Ally Financial does not protect its customers when mistakes happen. The mistake I made was to open a loan with Ally Financial.

Horrible

Horrible. They make things impossible. I had missed a payment and got a message that my car was assigned for repossession. When I called it was the day before I got paid so I made a payment arrangement for the next day. When I called the next day they told me there was a stop payment on my account and I can’t make a payment. They told me to wait till tomorrow and “hopefully” I’ll be able to. So my car is still at risk of being repossessed even though I was willing to pay today. Ridiculous!

Can't get lien release

I purchased a vehicle from a deceased person and paid off the lien to Ally in September. Here it is the end of January and I can't get them to release the lien to MVD so that it can be registered in my name. I have spent hours on the phone as they transferred me about 10 times. The last person I talked to said she would send me the lien release. That was two weeks ago and still nothing.

If I could give a zero star I would

If I could give a zero star I would.
One month after paying off my car and after multiple calls requesting that the lien release be faxed to me so that I could sell it, they still haven't faxed it to me.
I have lost buyers because of this. I cannot sell it without the lien release.
I am moving from CO to NY and by the time it was mailed it has been forwarded to NY. I am selling it in Colorado.
I have at least 12 calls documented to their service center promising this lien release would be faxed to me the same day.
NEVER FINANCE WITH ALLY. YOU CANNOT COUNT ON THEIR SERVICE.

Proactive Hardship Request and Lack of Assistance

I have maintained a consistent payment history and have never been late on this loan. Due to the recent loss of my job, I contacted your institution in good faith to explain my situation and request a temporary payment deferral to prevent any late fees or negative activity on my account. My intention was to address the matter responsibly before it escalated.

I was informed that no assistance could be provided because my account is current and no fees or delinquencies have occurred. I was further advised that action could only be taken once negative activity appears on the account. This places borrowers in an unreasonable position, being encouraged to wait until damage occurs rather than allowing preventative solutions.

I also found it concerning that, after clearly stating I had lost my job, I was asked to identify an alternative source of income. For many individuals, employment is their sole source of income, and this was already explained.

I am attempting to do the right thing by communicating early and honestly about financial hardship. Unfortunately, the guidance provided suggests that assistance is only available after penalties, fees, or collection activity begin, which undermines responsible borrower behavior.

Worst financing company ever

Worst financing company ever. My dad passed away and I lost my job. I applied for the financial hardship assistance. In October 2025. I got "approved" only to find out that it never went through. I did gwt a new job and I'm trying to get back on my feet while still dealing with the death of my dad. Every god damn month I have to call and make a new arrangement because something to messed up with the previous ones and they take ZERO responsibility for THEIR F ups. They literally dont send anything to their online portal like they say they will. I request them to fax me every single time. When they do, its not always the correct paperwork and then the AH on the phone acts like it's my fault. They also have a habit of losing the paperwork I fax back. I am currently looking to refinance through a local bank instead of continuing with these f-ing shit bags. They need to be shut down. After doing a little digging, it seems like this company is also a debt collector, so no wonder they never own up to their mistakes or make things right.

Absolutely they worst finance company…

Absolutely they worst finance company ever. I've been with Ally for over 10 years and NEVER again will I use this company. I filed chapter 13 bankruptcy 3 years ago and all of a sudden they are forcing me to call to make my payments instead of paying online like I normally do. I have NEVER in the 10 years I've been an Ally customer missed a single payment. Matter of fact, I usually pay more than is due for the month. I have less than $3000 to pay on my car and after everything they are forcing me to call them each month for payment. I'm done.

Ally Auto’s customer service

Ally Auto’s customer service is extremely poor. Representatives make promises that are not followed through, and payment processing is slow and unreliable. When issues arise, the burden is placed on the customer rather than Ally taking accountability.
The hardship assistance option is especially frustrating—overly complicated, unclear, and difficult to access, offering little actual support. Interactions often feel dismissive, as if using their services is an inconvenience.
Overall, this has been a consistently negative experience. I would not recommend Ally Auto.

this company is most things wrong with business today in the US. Outsource customer calls and no one can assist you in a way that's meaningful without the difficulty of understanding each other. No one is at the wheel to help, only to give inflated figures of loan balances from crowded call centers is what it sounds like. Seems to me they're better at making misleading commercials that suggest they care about their customers.

ZERO STARS!

If I could give no stars I would. We traded in my car. The dealership sent them the pay off. Now for the past month they are saying we are behind on payments. The dealership has even called them. They noted the account cause the check is there with Ally. But for some reason they want more money. This is affecting our credit score. This company needs to be shut down ASAP! HORRIBLE!

I will never use Ally again!

I will never use Ally again. Apparently in the fine print there is a deposition fee that when you lease a vehicle if you don’t lease another vehicle 30 days after you turn in that vehicle they charge you $395. Also, I turned my vehicle in a month early And was told at the dealership that I would get money back for turning it in early plus I was under the mileage. I had to have surgery and so I had to get my ducks in a row and I turned it in early. I end up getting a bill for the full car payment and when I called Ally they would do absolutely nothing for me Although I have no income now as I’m working through disability due to the accident.

Worst decision in auto

I do not know about other functions of this company but the auto side is the worst. They have seriously messed my payments up on multiple occasions. Sent me a confirmation and said the received my payment then waited almost 10 days to draft it. The try and pull money multiple times each month. Can't understand half of what the support people even say so I can clear things up. App reflected the email then changed and now they are talking about last month which was paid. Biggest mistake I have ever made in choosing a financial institution. Will never do it again. Buyers beware of them.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. I need to get a lien release for my totalled vehicle to be sold to the salvage yard. I have requested a signed copy 10 times and 10 times they sent me an unsigned copy which the SOS will not accept. They refuse to send me a copy stating they will only send it to my insurance company (my insurance company has never heard of anyone having to do this) There are language barriers and they are not helpful in the the slightest. AVOID using ALLY.
