Another fantastically organized private trip (Namibia, Vic Falls and Botswana), which made all our wishes come true. Excellent accommodations, knowledgeable guides/drivers, and everything we agreed upon was fulfilled! We had wonderful drives; we were spoiled with game (7 leopards!!) and stunning scenery! The private basic camp in the Delta (Botswana) was the icing on the cake! Thanks, African Travels!

We booked in South Afrika a beautiful Lodge with game drives in Game reserve Welgevonden. But since the heavy rainfall the resort was unable to acces, the roads were too bad.

African Travels immediately understandtook action and rebooked our 8 guest to another resort during Christmas time in another Game reserve.

Because of this we still experienced a fantastic safari and managed to see four out of the Big Five.

We had an incredible time from start to finish. 54 days starting in Kenya, ending in Zimbabwe. Marijnke was a star! Could not recommend African Travels more, they were so helpful at every point along the journey. I even ended up sick at one point and had to visit a hospital along the way and African Travels did everything in their power to help us rejoin the group safely and were so caring and supportive during this time. Fantastic company, and incredible trip. 10/10 would recommend.

We had a great vacation! They helped us when we needed information or another lodge. We had a mix off nature and culture.

We enjoyed our time in Africa!

We enjoyed out 21-day roundtrip Zambia-Namibia-Botswana ! Especially the variety, the beautiful countries, wildlife, nature and the combination of food prepared by the guides (camping feeling) and some more luxurious lodges.

We did a 23-day selfdrive in South Africa. Marieke was very helpfull with designing and planning the trip with us. Also during the trip she was always helping us with recommendations, and always available for questions.

The accommodations were all on unique and charming locations. Every time we thought this was the best possible, we got suprised again by the next one.

We booked our first selfdrive tour after some previous overland tours booked through African Travels. The tour itself was perfectly designed with much room for our preferences and budget. We camped at places that we felt really suited us. During the trip itself, we needed a lot of help from African Travels due to flight problems (African Travels changed the itinerary accordingly during the night, whilst we were flying) and car problems. Our car had several hick-ups and every time we called African Travels, they made sure we received the right support, in such a way that it would affect our itinerary the least. We are very greatful for the great design of the tour and all the support African Travels has given us. For our next trips, we wouldn't book else than through African Travels!

What can I say, it was a very well planned tour that started in Kasane and ended Johannesburg with many highlights on the way. We never felt unsafe and it was a perfect mixture of exploring the landscape, nature and wildlife on our own and the feeling of security which gave us the prebooked accomodations. Our personal highlights were the Bayete Guest Lodge in Vic Falls, the Ivory Lodge in Eastern Hwange Nationalpark, Wildtrax Safari Eco Lodge in Botwana and Sirheni Bushveld Camp in Kruger National Park. And of course all those Self Drive Safaris in Hwange and KNP. We can also recommend the boat cruises on Chobe River and the only thing we can complain about is that the Kubu Lodge - our first accomodation - did not offer boat cruises before sunrise.
The car provided by Ndlovu was made for the bumpy and sandy roads on our way through the nationalparks and we never had any problems with it. The car rental company as well as the members of the African Travels - team were always easy to contact.
The value for money you get with African Travels - Bookings is very good and the tour they planned for us suited our needs perfectly. Definitely highly recommended!

African Travels helped us organize a fantastic journey through Africa (Namibia/ Botswana/ Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls). They provided us with all the necessary information and documents. Were always reachable by phone, app or mail. Helped us from a distance with their local co-workers when we got stuck.

African Travels organized a perfect trip for us (4 people). All locations were selected with care and all hosts had amazing tips and great stories to tell. Furthermore, the contact with African Travels was fast, and they had more than enough cool tips to do during our trip. The application they use with all travel information was also of great help during the trip. We would recommend African Travels to everybody who wants to have an amazing Africa experience.

We are very satisfied with our safari organised by African Travels! The communication during the planning-phase was very effective, quick, and personal and within no-time they had turned our wishes into a realistic travel plan through Botswana and South-Africa. They choose great lodges and campsites, and the itinerary was varied and aligned very well with our wishes. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the self-drive safari! The river cruise in Chobe was one of our favourite activities and we had the most fun time driving through the deep sand.

Mooi reisplan,alle info in mail en app voorhanden, tijdens reis diverse malen via app contact gehad met de vraag of alles naar wens verloopt wat wij prettig vonden. Tijdens plannen reis werd er met ons mee gedacht. Kortom, een 10 voor deze reisorganisatie en zeer vriendelijke mensen.

Een hele fijne reis hebben wij gehad die georganiseerd was door African Travels. We hadden een week om te reizen en deze was uitstekend vormgegeven met de Panoramaroute en een bezoek aan een prive wildreservaat. Prachtige locaties waar wij hebben geslapen. Een een kort lijntje met de organisator tijdens onze reis via WhatsApp.

As former Airline personnel I travelled a lot to Africa, more specifically Kenya. As our family grew (both in age as in quantity) and was about to travel abroad themselves and my wife and myself were celebrating our 25th honeymoon anniversary (more on that later) we decided to make one last (for now) trip together, and it was quickly decided upon that it had to be Kenya.

My wife took it upon herself to start planning the trip using desktop research. We contacted several tour operators which all, but one, said that our planning could not be done. Fortunately we had a great zoom-session with Marijnke (at that moment situated in Kenya) which ended in a very positive way. As we wanted to explore multiple game reserves (Lake Nakuru, Masai Mara, Amboseli and Tsavo East) and travel by car to soak up the local smells etc. our plan meant travelling a lot. However travelling by car means meeting a lot of people and seeing the country in all its aspects which is what we were after. We basically asked Marijnke to come up with a travel scheme matching our original plan whereby the only restriction was that we did not want to sleep in the big tourist resorts, but stay in small, personal and hidden gems. Boy did she succeed!

The days before our departure from Amsterdam where somewhat troubled due to some check-in ticket issues. After contacting African Travels via WhatsApp it was however swiftly dealt with and we were assured that the issue was with the computer system of the airline and that all tickets were valid and good-to-go. This was confirmed during the check-in at the airport.

After arrival at Nairobi we were met by Richard which immediately suggested a change in plan which would save us some travelling time back and forth through Nairobi. Great suggestion Richard, much appreciated. Thnx! We now had some time available to scroll through (a small part of) Nairobi and do some shopping.

The next day we were met by our guide/drive and what would become a good friend Jeff. As we would be travelling together for the next 8 days this would mean spending a lot of time together in close quarters. After driving a few miles Jeff asked if we liked Rock&Roll, well not specifically but some music is always nice. This was the start of a musical underlined journey 😊. As some of the family are professional singers/actors/dancers this became the red line through the journey, the day started and ended in a singing way.

For the next few days Jeff guided us through the most beautiful scenery of Kenya. Through the experience and patience (and some luck 😊 ) of Jeff we were able to sign off on the big5+ in just 3 game drives (5+ because we saw both black and white rhinos and hunting and mating lions)!

Some of the lodges we were spending the night at had no road signs (for what the remaining road signs are worth), this meant asking and driving down steep embankments and across rocks and small streams. Thank god for the decision to travel by Toyota Landcruiser. Jeff also had a great time as some of the lodges were also new to him. The offroad trips to the lodges were always met by the most stunning locations and views! Again a big thank you to African Travels, the lodges were spot on!

As everything also our journey had to come to an end. For us this meant parting ways with Jeff, but not before having a last lunch together at a serene location at the waterfront in Mombassa.

At the start of this review/ short travel journal I mentioned our 25th wedding anniversary…. This was only briefly mentioned during the first call, however Marijnke made a mental note about this and during one of the last diners in our beach resort she arranged for a special private diner at the beach which made an already very special journey even more special. Again a big thank you!!

We would most certainly advise traveling to Africa with African Travels and hope that they can keep providing the personal touch to their trips as this makes them stand out!

Een geweldige reis gehad door Namibië en Botswana met dank aan Marijnke van African Travels. We hebben een self-drive vakantie gedaan door deze twee landen. Alles was goed geregeld, we hebben vooraf heel veel informatie gekregen en het contact was erg fijn. Gedurende de reis hadden we wat pech met de auto, maar Marijnke heeft ervoor gezorgd dat wij zo snel als mogelijk geholpen werden, zodat we veilig door konden rijden. Het is een onvergetelijke reis geworden. Als je op zoek bent naar een goede reisorganisatie, dan raad ik zeker aan om bij African Travels te boeken. Je zult een prachtige, zorgeloze reis hebben.
