Scammers. the locksmith was in our property for less than an hour and charged £426
This company are scammers. Do not use them. They told my daughter the bill was £180 but they put £1800 on the card machine. She is visually impaired, it was dark, and she only found out because the bank sent her a message to following day. We have reported them to the Police, and the bank fraud team. We will contact Trading Standards. They operate nationwide but advertise as local.
Terrible service, unclear overpriced and scammers! £860 to change a barrel! Absolutely disgraceful- taking advantage of older women who live on their own!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
I was seriously disappointed at the extortionate charge and the residents in our block were also similarly disappointed. I think we paid at least three or four times more than we should’ve done and I would seriously recommend not using this service.
I would not recommend this company, particularly when providing services to vulnerable or elderly adults.
I contacted the company because the client had previously used their services. During the initial phone call, the representative seemed rushed. He asked me to send a video of the issue, which I did. After reviewing it, he said he could attend the property. I explained that we were happy for him to come the following day, but he insisted on attending immediately.
When he arrived, he stated that all that was needed was to push the latch to resolve the issue. This raised the question of why this advice could not have been provided before making the visit, especially after reviewing the video.
On arrival, he then stated the charge would be £70, but this had not been mentioned beforehand. VAT was then added, bringing the total to £90. Fortunately, another person was present at the property when this took place. When they questioned why £70 was being charged for a job that required nothing more than pushing a latch and took approximately one minute to resolve, he stated it was due to a call-out fee. However, as I had already offered to wait until the following day, the immediate visit was unnecessary and had been encouraged by the company.
In total, £90 was charged for a visit lasting around one minute. I found the pricing unclear, the communication poor, and the overall approach unprofessional and discourteous. I also had to ask for an invoice, as one was not provided automatically.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company.
AVOID. My 86 year old father was charged over £800 for a straightforward job when he couldn't open his front door. There was no clear explanation of the costs beforehand. In my opinion they took advantage of a vulnerable pensioner who felt overwhelmed and paid. The price was outrageous. I would advise others to avoid this company. Will be reporting to Trading Standards.
Over priced, shoddy job. Quoted one price, charged another! Steer clear of these people!
I was quoted £69 visit and £39 lock change over the phone, thinking it would be perhaps maximum £200 for a service, which was not an emergency. The man arrived and then quoted £189, by that point you’re resigned to contuining to get the job done. Then, after taking 30 minutes, they write a receipt for £420 which now includes VAT. I’m not sure why they don’t quote prices including VAT when they’re dealing with retail customers. The whole experience made me feel like I’d been mugged. I’m reporting it to my bank and advise anyone to steer clear.
What’s worse is I found this company through the guise of a 9.9 rated checkatrade organisation. I’ll be flagging this to checkatrade as well. Good luck to everyone else in obtaining refunds and no longer being cheated by these crooks.
The engineer was lovely and fixed the toilet. That said the prices are criminal: £545 to unblock a toilet! Granted it was on a Saturday night but when I pressed about prices on phone they were very evasive and wouldn't even even give me a ball park. Said it depended on the job which was untrue since I was charged an hourly price. I would have never used them for that price I could have fitted a whole new toilet for that price
I am a vulnerable person, suffering from multiple health conditions including Parkinsons Disease. I contacted this company change a front door bsrrel lock for me. The Responder arrived, he checked the barrel and advised me to have a replacement. He was here less than 15 minutes. He charged me £720. I stupidly paid the amout and he left. I then thought about the incident and realised i had been a victim of fraud. I have attempted to contact 24hrs Services all day, and the telephone staff just fobb you off with one excuse after another. I have spoken to my Bank, the Police and Citizens Advice and i will be taking matters further. PLEASE READ AND LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE AND AVOID THIS COMPANY. I wish you all luck.
Lost our keys for bi folding doors , foreign guy came in unmarked car , i was told £45 labour charge and price of lock on top ..,£860 cos he had to drill lock out . He kindly then gave me a£100 discount . Ive reported this to my bank , DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
The engineer turned up, sprayed WD40 in the mechanism, something I was warned against when the door was first fitted. He was here for under 5 minutes, the door was better but not perfect. Within a week the door was sticking again just like before. I was charged £225, when I complained that the door was NOT fixed correctly, the phone was put down on me. DO NOT USE THESE CROOKS.
Update. 25hrs Services Ltd have now refused to come and fix remaining faults unless I pay again
, saying I should,ve told them the doorhandle was wobbly. A broken doorhandle is obv wobbly and needs fixing. That was the job i paid £330 for! These are rip off merchants with a very aggressive approach.
Phoned to come out an hour later than arranged and refused to take no for an answer, and promised a quick job or to return to complete it, as it was explained that late calls were not possible due to ill health. ! 1/2 hours later he 's still trying to get a signal to allow me to pay the extortionate fee. I obv didn;t have over £300 cash and he wouldn't take a cheque or wait for payment to be arranged. Did he really need to drill out and break the lock to get at the mechanism and charge £80 for servicing it. I believe that this was to then force me into buying a new lock at an horrendous price. what else can you do when your door mech and lock is in pieces? These are high pressure salesman with an axe to grind in Britain, with many hidden unnecessary actions and costs and to me that's dishonest.
Remember all of their prices are quoted before 20% VAT is added.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY unless you have money to throw away, and can stomach being made an idiot of and suffer a sleepless night. By the time he left I was ill with the stress from his high pressure sales and devious practices. I'm proud to say my family get asked back for work because they are so genuine, kind, honest and go the extra mile for their neighbourhoods.
This is the company I was invoiced by. The company name I contacted via Google was delta-locksmiths.co.uk - check it. My 90 year old mother left her key indoors in her house in Braintree. I googled locksmith Braintree and this company appeared at the top as a sponsored search result. He quoted me £45 over the phone for a ‘simple job’. He arrived within the hour and glanced briefly at the door before looking around the house for open windows etc. when there were none, he said to me that he would need to drill out the lock and that would cost £180 - and that the lock would be destroyed. I expressed disbelief that this was necessary. In response to my resistance, and ONLY AT THIS POINT did he ask whether the door was double locked. I said I didn’t know, my mother said no. He said ‘this is important’. I repeated that it wasn’t. Then he retrieved his inflatable air wedge from his car and attended at last to the door. He opened it very quickly. Then he billed my mother for the £45 quoted, plus an unquoted £65 call out fee, plus VAT = £132. Cheaper than his original plan of £180 + £65 + VAT + the cost of a new lock etc. AVOID.
The company came advising on the phone a "labour" charge of £60 when the lock on our front door jammed. A Foreign man arrived and fitted a what we now know is not a high security lock , sprayed some Wd40 on the gearbox which was returned NOT replaced , put a new handle on a window in our lounge and wrote out a bill for £845!!!!! the bill was not itemised- we paid by credit card for protection as needed the door secured with it being late in the evening. We have reported to the fraud team and have obtained a fraud ref no which we have shared with our credit card company to investigate. A reputable locksmith was horrified at what we were charged claiming he would have charged cira £120 for the low standard lock and that was out of hours charges!!
